Oh my, you'll really went in on it today!! I know someone is probably gonna say this is the wrong place for this discussion but let me add my two cent. As a whole we need more kids from GU in the NBA period, as it stands right now Otto and Green are the only two holding it down in there respective conferences. Hibbert, Monroe, and Hollis are all on teams that will probably not see the play-offs at the end of the regular season and kids take note of that. We are an elite brand and should be able to recruit as such regardless of what any rating outlet disseminates. We need to be the corner stone of hard-work, determination, and relentless defense. We need to get back to opponents fearing a loss when we hit the floor and once we have achieved that we will get the recruits that we want not the ones we need.
Monroe is in a great position the next couple of years to get a lot of attention with the group of guys around him.
Ugh. I spent the conscious portions of the first 18 years of my life following Marquette and Wisconsin hoops (from roughly 1985-1997). Both programs were irrelevant, thrilled the few times they were lucky enough to qualify for the tournament. I specifically remember my giddyness during the drive with my parents out to Georgetown at the idea that I was leaving middling, irrelevant college basketball behind forever because I was going to be at Georgetown. John Thompson. The Big East. Big time, elite college basketball. Contending for national champions.
Then, within like 2 years, Thompson was gone. Esherick took over the program. Dick Bennett shocked the world and took Wisconsin to the 2000 Final Four. Tom Crean rebuilt Marquette and someone named Dwyane Wade came along. Marquette went to the Final Four in 2003, just around the time we were battling St. Johns in the NIT final.
Time and time again I heard it from all of my friends from back home, who suddenly had these incredible runs to get excited, as we melted away.
For just one moment in all that there was a brief respite--2007. Well that and 2008 until Davidson came along.
Both programs changed coaches. Buzz Williams took Marquette to 3 straight Sweet Sixteens, including in 2 years when we finished ahead of Marquette in the conference. And now Wisconsin.
This sucks.

I feel your pain bigdog. I am also an ex-badger fan. Unfortunately, I still live in Wisconsin and have many friends that are fanatic badger fans. They are the same people who have repeatedly twisted the knife when they Hoyas struggle in the NCAAs. Frustrating to say the least.
Agreed. 3 stars according to ESPN, watched him against Govan and wasn't that impressed. Additionally, we are loaded at that position for years to come. We need guards in 2016!
Scout 2012 Shooting Guard Rankings 1. Rasheed Sulaimon- dismissed from team for rape allegations 2. Marcus Smart-NBA (2 years) 3. Archie Goodwin-NBA (1 year) 4. Gary Harris-NBA (2 years) 5. Ricardo Ledo-NBA (1 year) 6. Rodney Purvis-transfer 7. Danuel House-transfer 8. Katin Reinhardt-transfer 9. D’vauntes Smith-rivera (3 years-averaged 9,17 and 16, then declared for draft) 10. Omar Calhoun (averaged 5.5 ppg for UCONN this year) 11. Aaron Thomas (declared ineligible) 12. Jordan Price- transfer 13. Melvin Johnson (averaged 12.4 ppg for VCU this year) 14. Gabe York (averaged 9.2 ppg for Arizona) 15. Alex Caruso (averaged 9.1 ppg for Texas A&M this year) 16. Kellen Dunham (averaged 16.5 ppg for Butler this year) 17. Rapheal Davis (averaged 10.7 ppg for Purdue this year) 18. Marqueze Coleman (averaged 9.4 ppg for Nevada this year) 19. Michael Frazier II (averaged 12 ppg this year, declared for draft) 20. Carlos Morris (JUCO, one year player for MINN this year)
Looking at this list and where these players ended up, I’m pretty satisfied with getting three really good years out of DSR. I guess the only one I would even consider trading would be a 4 years from Kellen Dunham or Smart/Harris for 2 years.
"We have a great group of guys coming back,” Smith-Rivera said. “We had a great freshman class – those guys grew up a lot this year. We have a great core. Bradley Hayes will be back, so we have a for-sure big man. Our main core will still be there. We’ll be good.”
I wonder what changed for him in a little over a week..
I think the Hoyas need to stick with the graduate transfer that can play immediately. If we added foster/gill, that would make 7 players in the class of 2014 plus it may hinder tre/LJ development. I like Trey Lewis the most out of the names being thrown around in this thread. Would start at PG from day one whereas I'm not sure where Lee would fit (replacing trawick essentially) ?
He would be eligible after DSR's departure. Seems likes a kid that needs a year to gain his confidence back (only shot 25% from 3 this year). Could be a good fit for us and we have the scholly to do it.
