Nothing like the "offseason" on HT.

I think the local recruit who attended was Bryant Crawford? He went to Wake and became very good by the second half of his freshman season. Wish we had gotten him. However, the worst part of that situation was the emergence of Tiger J as a force on HT.

How on earth is C Wright not a backup PG in the NBA?

Was a scout for the Oklahoma Thunder too. Landed Hanlan and Reggie Jackson at BC from what I've read. Sounds like a good recruiter. From what I've read Waheed didn't land either of these players.. Jackson went to BC in '08 & the articles written about Hanlan's recruitment only mention Steve Donahue & Nat Graham as recruiters.. I also went thru BC's roster from 2010-14 & didn't notice many DMV kids names during his tenure, I've attached an article detailing BC's recruiting during the Donahue era.. Underwhelming for sure.. recruitne.blogspot.com/2013/06/steve-donahues-recruiting-history-at.htmlIn retrospect the program may have been better off giving Hunter a raise 3 years ago, he's doing a nice job at Nebraska.. The 2018 & 19 classes are going to be very very very crucial so I hope JT3 has made solid additions, the program can't afford another 3 year experiment.. Yup. I didn't want to sound negative about a new coach that I know absolutely nothing about...but the body of work...the resume..didn't give me any reason to be excited about this hire. Agree that the next year or two on the recruiting trail are vital.

If he likes the idea of playing back here and his parents went to Georgetown then GU should be the obvious choice. if Maryland is recruiting him better than we are we have serious issues. Gotta agree with this. Especially since I hate Md.

From the highlight package on Pryor...looks a little like Victor Page? Lefty..attacks hard, can shoot the J. If he is 75 pct as good as Page, I will be quite happy.

His record still stands...29 points in the 4th quarter..most in any playoff quarter. ALso most points in a half..39. Not the most renowned of records, like Wilt Chamberlain 100 pts..but us old Hoya fans will take it!

If I recall, JT was actually scouting his teammate, who may have been a guard named John Robinson. Robinson was more highly regarded than Sleepy and ended up with Lefty at Maryland. Hoyas got stuck with the second choice!

I'm having a hard time understanding the angst a few posters are having regarding the departure of Sutton and Hardy. As we all know, the team has missed the tourney 2 of 3 years. Last year was the worst, or at least most disappointing, most of us can remember. The team simply did "not come to play" for lack of a better term the vast majority of the season. Played no D, fell behind by large margins early, and there was no chemistry. Bottom Line....we should be THRILLED that changes are happening on the coaching front. I sincerely wish the departing coaches well, but for whatever reason it did not work, and it is time for new blood. III has to get it right this time. We will see over the next year or two, if he did.

Well, if he is Camby- like with a handle, than we are talking Kevin Garnett. Camby without the handle was the NBA defensive player of the year and four times on the All NBA defensive team. A;so won the Naismith Award as college player of the year (yeah..I looked it up). So...if JJJr is at least that good...someone is real lucky to get him.

Can we talk about Jeff for a minute. Never have I been so frustrated watching a guy play in the league the way I am when watching Jeff. He is oozing with talent, has the athleticism and skills to match anyone he goes up against, and yet he looks as if he is going half speed for whatever reason. Guys out effort him all the time...there is no excuse for it. It's as if the lightbulb turned off at the Ohio St. game and really never turned on again. Sorry for this, I live in Los angles and have been watching the clipper games and am amazed that no one brings up his name on this board. He's was the only hoya left in the playoffs and no one even makes mention of it. I rarely bring up Jeff anymore for the exact reason you state. It is just too frustrating. In my mind, he is the most athletic and skilled Hoya under JT3 and, has the tools to go against virtually anyone in the NBA. I have convinced myself over the years that Jeff would become an All-Star, if only he found "the right situation". At this point I have given up. He does not have that internal motor to drive him to greatness, other than for an occasional game where he scores 40 or makes the highlight shows with monster dunks. Hey...it is his life, he earned his degree and many millions and is wonderful representative of the university. He has accomplished far more in his life than I have. But, the wasted potential is a shame. And yes, if Jeff had really been aggressive against Ohio State, I still feel we could have won the title.

The last thing I want to have to read about, and hear about for three years, is that 5 star recruit and son of former Hoya Jaren Jackson has signed with the Twerps. Pls go anywhere else but there (not sure Cuse in the mix.)

The hope is he goes to Prep school and then therefore becomes a 2017 recruit. I have zero idea of the chances of that but that is why we remain in the race. People should also keep in mind some of his offers are probably for 2016 some probably for 2017... Gtown when they had Scholly's would have taken him in either class fwiw Got it. Would assume that a kid with a solid D1 offer (and who qualifies) would take it, as opposed to prep school. HE does seem like a legit late bloomer, under the radar guy..a la Greg W. But we definitely needed those two guards.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but aren't we out of the Antwan Walker race, due to scholarship limits at this point?

The main things Otto needs to improve on are of course his core strength but most of all, his ability to create his own offensive opportunities. As of now, he can't be counted on to carry a unit without John Wall on the floor creating scoring opportunities for him either in transition or spotting up around the perimeter. If he could only become marginally better doing that and maintain that 40% clip from three for an entire season, he could become a really good pro. I agree with you. But more specifically, he really needs to improve his handle, which would allow him to create more scoring opportunities. The other thing is improving his ability to draw contact and get to the line. He rarely goes straight into the defender when he is driving or try to fake and get the defender to bump him on his jump shot. Those extra 3 or 4 free throws is the difference between averaging 12 and 16. As you state, he must continue to get stronger. He did have a very good season, this past year,,,averaging almost 12 pts and more than 5 rebounds. He was also in the top 20 (or close to it) in steals per game.

Can we all just agree that a good kid, who happens to have some nice offensive skills at 7 ft tall, is coming back for an unexpected fifth year..and that is good news for all concerned?

Hayes is by no means Patrick Ewing. But he was as good a low post player as I saw in college last year. Pretty good rebounder as well. Obviously, if he could shoot outside and play defense, as well, he'd be in the NBA by now. Overall, seems like a good kid, who has shown amazing improvement. Thrilled to have him back.
