I am probably the only Board member who actually enjoys women's basketball! It will be much better for the women's game when such disparities in talent no longer exist. you can include me... I've been watching it since Rebecca Lobo and her squad went undefeated back in '95(?).

I'm sorry, but this game should have been called with about 16 minutes left to go in the game due to the fight that broke out.
If I'm losing that badly, and it looks like things aren't going to turn around for us after the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half, then we're going to be fightin', Buddy!!!!
If we can't win the game, we're gonna at least win somethin'!!!

I mean, I'm totally cool if the reason we don't participate is that Georgetown hates children. That's good stuff there...

GW is quite active in the city -- partnerships with public schools, a campus that is very much in and of the city, and many of the things that Georgetown also does. American and Catholic and Howard and Trinity and Gallaudet and, of course, UDC, all give back as well in varying degrees. Its the nature of universities to be involved in their community. Georgetown may not do a tremendous amount as an institution that it can point to for reference, but its individuals--its students, faculty, staff, and alumni--all give back in a host of ways. Thanks, Hoya T...

I was just kidding, Buff... I thought all the "old-heads" around here would have realized that that was a 'tongue-in-cheek' response from me. I did, aggy. But I thought I'd explain the situation for those that might not have been aware of that whole incident... ... and those who can't do 64 reps of 225. Friggin' Weaklings...

I will say that I hate the fact that Georgetown doesn't really seem like it's a part of the city. I don't know if playing in the BB&T classic is the answer to that, but I think they have more to gain by strengthening their ties to the city. A lesson that Howard should have learned also. But is GW or American any more a "part of the city?" I'm just curious, what should Georgetown do to be more a part of the city? I'm not trying to be a smartass, just wondering, especially with this talk of GU "arrogantly ignoring the city and its least-fortunate residents." Very good question...I wish I had an answer... Truthfully, I don't get the impression that G-Dub or American is anymore "active" in D.C. than any other school. But I'm not too sure about any of the D.C. universities' community out-reach programs so I wouldn't be much help.

Wait a minute....Are you saying that Georgetown hates Black People?!?!? What the hell is that all about? Aggy - I think he's referring to a thread on the UMCP boards a month or so ago where - for 20+ pages - a bunch of Twerp fans went on and on about how Georgetown was "the worst" college for black students in America. How black students who attended were Uncle Tom's, etc. ad nauseum. If it weren't so filled with hate, it would have been hilarious. I was just kidding, Buff... I thought all the "old-heads" around here would have realized that that was a 'tongue-in-cheek' response from me. I know that most universities are going to have part of its population that feels that it's not being treated fairly. I'm sure there were some white folks at my school that thought, "Damn! These Black kids are in control of EVERYTHING!" (A&T was 99% Black when I was there) From the one Black grad I know from G'Town, she's never had a discouraging word. Doesn't mean her experience was like everyone elses, but I'm sure if it was that bad, she would have left.

I am not sure why people get so worked up about this stuff. I love it -- people only hate the greats. No one boos a benchwarmer. I tend to agree with this philosophy. People always hate what's great, in large part because people hate feeling inferior, and are willing to go to great lengths to knock down those perceived as superior. And since people hate feeling that Georgetown is superior, they look for ways to bring the University down, ie. they don't care about the community, they hate black people, they are too afraid to play X team in basketball, etc. It shouldn't bother us at all. It's amusing IMO to see how far people will go in spinning these kinds of things to try to avoid feeling inferior. Wait a minute....Are you saying that Georgetown hates Black People?!?!? What the hell is that all about?

The superstition doesn't apply to "sure wins"... But then again, who did I pick for the ODU game? Monarchs - A Bunch Hoyas - Not So Much Quite the complicated set of prescient powers, aggy. OK...I'm going to go look-up "prescient", and if it doesn't mean 'Lovable Large Black Man', I'm going to have to ask you to step outside.

Of all the anthems I've heard, Whitney Houston's at the Superbowl in 96 ranks the tops... Boyz II Men at the MTV Rock & Jock B-Ball game is a very close second... Followed by Bleeding Gums of The Simpsons...

Aggy is right as always. The question is does he plan on making any predictions for the Duke game like he did last year? Actually, NJ, this past summer I predicted the Hoyas to beat the Devils down in Cameron. I know...it wasn't quite as "Balls'ey" as last year's pick, but when I made the pick, we were thinking that the Hoyas were Final Four bound. But if we hit our Free Throws down the stretch, we win by 8...

I'm hoping that last night's loss was a wake-up call, but I fear that things will get worse before they get better ... Other teams have been through this before. Anyone want to research how many have ended on a high note after tanking early on? Maryland - 2001 - Should have won the title but lost to Duke in the semis due to some 'trickeration' by the referees...
