www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7881895/how-indiana-pacers-all-star-center-roy-hibbert-avoided-becoming-stiffSo during the offseason between Hibbert's freshman and sophomore years, he met Hill in the weight room every day. First, they worked on speed and agility, using jump ropes, Hula-Hoops, and tennis balls. Then they moved on to strength training, until Hibbert could do one push-up, and then 10 and then 20 and then more. "It took some time," Hill says, "but once he realized, 'Holy ! I really can be good at this stuff,' then it just clicked." Hibbert started peppering Hill with questions — How's my form? What does my body fat look like? What else can I do to target this muscle? — until, Hill says, "It got to the point where it felt like he was challenging me as much or more than I was challenging him."

There is no rational basketball basis for scheduling such weak OOC teams at home and relatively strong OOC away games. Maybe not a basketball reason, but it's probably easier to schedule a strong OOC team if you're willing to play on their floor, right? Whereas a week OOC team is just happy to be playing a relatively-marquee opponent.

I would think he's much more likely to leave for the Knicks if UK wins the title. Guessing Calipari's thought process is like guessing a recruit's though so you may be right You're probably right, although anything UK wins is going to be vacated down the road anyway (and I say this as someone whose introduction to college BB was pulling for Cal's UMass teams). Just gives us more ability and time to negatively recruit against UK if the front page of ESPN is filled with Cal to NYK rumors and it's lighting up Twitter, is all. Unlikely that'll happen while UK is still dancing.

Time to pull against Kentucky, hard. If they lose, the Calipari to Knicks talk heats up sooner rather than later -- the X factor that could swing this in our favor. As for Cuse, we'll obviously be pulling against them regardless.

NC State outplayed us today. But I think when this season started any of us would have accepted a NCAA tournament bid plus getting the first-round-loss monkey off our backs.
Great work all season by the team, especially Sims and Clark, and our coaching staff. Better luck next year (fingers crossed we keep Hollis and add Nerlens)!

Wouldn't mind seeing them go for the kill if they can get Thompson open with time expiring.

We can't blame refs, Henry's plays were just dumb. Agreed w/r/t Henry, but as competition and entertainment, this game is being wrecked by way too many whistles on both ends of the floor.

"How were you able to get back into the game after being down by 8?"
Real answer: "Every player on Georgetown has 2 fouls"

Every tournament game it seems like we are playing an away game Maybe because our fan base is way smaller than most any state school's?

If we keep playing the swarming defense we've shown in the past two games, we can hang with anyone in the nation. Offense looked tremendous last night, too. Watching the new starting lineup play in person on Saturday was pretty freaking inspirational. Otto and Whitt have been incredible lately -- what a sneaky-good recruiting job by our coaching staff. All in all, it would be excellent to get a win vs. Marquette, and even better to make a deep run in the BET and hopefully win...

Otto Porter's rebounding ability is such a plus for this team. Love that we shut Cuse down with zero second chance points.

But I don't know if $60mm a year is feasible. I would think the Big Cobbler contract will be significantly discounted vs. other major conferences because of lower quality of football and unstable conference architecture. Existing per-year conference TV contracts as of May of this year: Pac-12 $250mm Big Ten $212mm SEC $205mm ACC $155mm Big 12 $150mm Big East $42.3mm businessofcollegesports.com/2011/05/05/televison-contract-breakdown/BE just got stronger in football, expanded to more markets, and will be the only free agent conference available when the next contract comes up for bids. $60mm is conservative. If the 70%/30% split doesn't demonstrate college football's complete and total supremacy over basketball when it comes to TV revenue, I don't know what does.

If money is your only concern, the only real math you need to know is that we get $2 million from Big East now after the football pigs take their fat cat share. We should be confident that, with the right leadership and vision, we can replace $2 million in a hoops first conference. Wow. In what media universe is a basketball-only conference going to pull down a $10m+ media contract? The highest-rated regular-season college basketball game in a given season is roughly equivalent to the ratings of a random game between low- or un-ranked, well-known college football teams. There is no reason to expect that we could get that kind of contract, even if we roped in every prominent hoops-first school in the land. There simply aren't enough eyeballs to make it pay. You realize every school that has invested money into its football program will tell us to go F ourselves the minute Gtown decides to boldly lead the way to hoops-first, right? I'd rather accept some football ridiculousness that hardly affects us and stay partnered with Nova, UConn, Louisville et al for as long as we can. A few road trips to Texas isn't going to make a difference for the hoops team and is literally the difference between life and death for the rest of our teams. I couldn't care less about Big East football, let alone college football in general, except as a means to an end. $2m in hand, with possibly more to come when the BE inks a new media deal, is a pretty good deal for Georgetown. Hell, we'd have to PAY OUT $5m just to leave the Big East. Our options were severely limited the second our so-called brethren ran off to the South in search of football riches. Marinatto and friends bought us a few more years in the big leagues, hopefully our leadership can make the most of it. Our conference may be a "laughingstock" now, but nobody is going to be laughing when Hank Sims rejects a weak floater into the fifth row of seats this winter.

The BE rejects ESPN's offer, and the ACC plucks Syracuse and Pitt at ESPN's direction (per the Boston College AD). The BE tries to recover via the western division, and at a delicate stage of negotiations ESPN front-pages a story about how the AQ is going away and the Big East is particularly screwed.
I'd sure like to see the BE close this expansion deal, sue Pitt and ESPN, and land a huge new TV deal from NBC.
