He would still talk about Syracuse. There would be 3 or 4 segments about Syracuse as a #1 seed in the NCAAs. and 20 minutes on the Rautins' matching his and his tattoos.

Need a better emoticon for "tongue firmly in cheek," I guess.

One thing that I've noticed while watching the game from my office - the sublime play of Biggie McClain. Yeah, can't imagine what I was thinking earlier.

Can't watch from where I am, but with Thomas w/4 fouls, isn't Cincinnati awfully small?

So, was the pregame comment that maybe 3 guys on Team USA would even make Team Canada's roster accurate, or hyperbole? Despite my latitude, don't follow pro hockey much.

ND missed their last 9 3s in a row, thank God.

So can anyone tell me where we get "Finland" from "Suomi?" That's about the only riddle we haven't solved yet. Suomi is what they call where they are from. Finland is what their fellow Scandanavians (and now everyone else) called where they are from. At least I think that's how it works.

What did big John win without Pat Ewing. Dean won a championship with George Lynch, Eric Montross, Brian Reese, Donald Williams and Derrick Phelps. Big John did not reach the final four with Reggie and the Miracles, Alzono / Dikembe and the Allen Iverson 96 team. Actually, Reggie and the Miracles was one of his finest coaching jobs. C'mon, look at that roster and tell me they had any business winning the Big East Tournament and making the Elite Eight. And he went on to make the tournment again with just the Miracles, which is mind boggling. I was a freshman in '86 - '87, and that's absolutely right. That team shouldn't have finished up near as well as it did. Watching Wisco beat the crap out of Indiana right now - Bo Ryan can coach. 9 years at Wisco, never less than 19 wins, with nowhere near the recruiting or profile of much of the rest of the B10.

just because a loss may make 'Cuse more focused doesn't mean we should drop one today too.

Maybe it's just because of the years I went to GU, but Florida-Xavier really struck me as meteor game, since Billy D. was on the Providence team that knocked us out my freshman year, and Xavier knocked us out way too early my senior year. That said, Xavier played a great game and deserved the win.

Pains me to say it, but I think the UCONN boards are right - Cahill screwed them twice. Routins had taken three steps and then called a TO a few minutes earlier, and they gave SU that one too.

Peyton's not in that league yet. It's not a Favre until you've honked 3 playoff games.
