Listen, we lack 2 components.
1. Shooting guards- Yes we have starks ok then what... DSR cant create his own shot, Trawick who I really like is average, and the freshman sharp shooter cant shoot or get off the bench
2. We have no dominant center. Hopkins, Lubick, Adams, Moses are not impact players for one reason or another.
Thats the way I see it.

Even, if we spot Kentucky the 3 best recruits every year, there are still so many top H/S athletes we can land. What im saying is I think theres a level above where we are now but below Kentucky and thats ok.

Marquette just seems very similar too us. They have a few very good player, a host of average players and play a tough defense. The difference was they had the home court advantage.
Our biggest problem is where are the points coming from. We have too many role players like Lubick, Trawick, Hopkins, DSR. When Whit plays like a role player and not a star were in huge trouble. Guys we thought would be solid contributors like Moses and Domingo will not be this year.

I live 25 minutes from Newtown. Very sad around here. My companys plant manger's daughter is a teacher there. She called him on her cell from the class room as bullets were being fired. She had the kids in the closet hiding from the gun man. Certainly puts things in perspective. OMG, he must have been freaked! Absolutely! She is ok, but very very shaken up. People will never forget this. My wife is a Elementary teacher so this hits close to home...

My thoughts so far:
This is the perfect team to play because this is a first round type of mid major team that can give anyone trouble if they hit their threes.
1. Crowd is aweful again. I know, exam week, not a big time team, noon tip off blah blah. We have no come court advantage and theres never any juice against a weaker opponent. I think we only get up for syracuse, uconn, louisville... 2. Im kinda dissapointed in DSR. After a huge start early in the year I havent seen the offensive production i was hoping for. 3. Wheres domingo? I was hoping hed be in the rotation hitting some threes.. Cant he shoot or something? 4. Porter and starks clearly our best players. Porter is really our only go to player. We seem to have a very good team but not many very good individual players.... 5. Trawick is very underrated. He is a solid player and can easily start on many teams. 6. Starks on the inbounds play has ben awesome for years now. Im surprised teams are not prepared for it.
Just my 2 cents..

The BIG EAST name is not that important. Losing UCONN and SYR is the real bummer. It just wont be the same no matter what. But really what is the same, everything around us in every walk of life is changing, alot is not for the better.

PE Jr. was a terrific 6th man who was invaluable to the Final Four team. Zo III doesn't need to be his dad to make an impact. So saying we should pass simply because "the sequel is very rarely better than the original" is silliness. Ok, listen before everyone comments on my comment it was kinda a joke. I couldnt pick out zo 3 if my life depended on it. For all I know he could be the next best thing...

The sequel is very rarely better than the original. Pass. Yeah, PEJr. was terrible. Wish he wasn't there to help us get to the Final Four. You want to compare PE to his son? Wow. Patrick Ewing was one of the pillars that the big east was build upon. PE JR was a servicable player with a million dollar last name.

Blah Blah Blah. Whine about the offense. Whine about the students. Whine about the IAC. This board is so predictable. I love this year's team. The team's defense and resolve should be the topic of this discussion. How about the whole team going cold, but refusing to lose? Also, knocking Benimonster for his performance yesterday just makes you a mean person. Discounting his rebounding performance because 13 of them were defensive is just silly. I wish we had a guy who was pulling down that many defensive boards in a game. He's a good kid who obviously is working really hard to get better. And he happened to out rebound Otto, Nate, and Hopkins combined. I hope our front court players take that to heart. I agree with you about Benemon. I think he played great and looked like he got in great shape. I was one of his biggest haters and I wanted to say he played a great game and honestly I was happy for him. Im sure its not easy to come back here block out all those old emotions and concentrate on this game. I strongly dissagree on the students. Listen the whole situation is a joke. We need a smaller on campus facility where the students can pack it in and we can have a better atmosphere. Outside of a huge dunk by Whit the place sounded dead, at least watching it on tv. There were so many empty seats in the lowers. Build a gample type place for god sakes. We seem to always show up in a crazy neutral site or away game. These home games versus smaller schools or weaker Big East schools are brutal.

big question- why do teams always press us when we empty the bench and were up big. What are they trying to prove with 2 minutes left??
