Know he's been mentioned here, but didn't see any individual threads for him. For those who don't know, he's in the mix as the top C in the 2014 class: scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=4907705No insider info about him, but this sounds nice... Joseph Thompson @secbballrecruit RT @jayjayusatoday: Who's standing out the most for 2014 center Dakari Johnson? Florida, Syracuse, Kentucky and Georgetown.

the is a huge development. JTIII should be doing a full court press on johnson. The hoyas are in solid position with him. And apparantly his mother is heavily involved

I agree, but worried about the types of schools on his list. Gotta do this without dissuading Meeks.

ID, the hoyas have been in on him from the beginning and he values that. They have a good shot at him. That being said, Istill say the hoyas should push hard for meeks because they are already in top 2 with him

The impression I have (and that's merely from reading this board) is that Johnson is far better than Meeks. That said, we can't quit on Meeks to go after Johnson when we're down to the wire on Meeks. If we were in Johnson's top 3 it might be a different story, but it sounds as though he's wide open.

Seeing Meeks play against Johnson this past Spring--it's a no brainer that Johnson is the better player--Meeks was outclassed in every way--and it's the type of big that Meeks is lost against--physical, tall and strong. Johnson is a great player--Meeks is a good one who has shown no commitment to take his weight issue seriously. That's a concern. If you keep telling people you get it--and don't do anything about it--will you? Johnson wasn't in great shape prior to this Spring--and he worked his butt off and it helped his game immensely. Self motivated players are a lot easier to deal with then guys who have to be coddled to work hard and Meeks has a huge red flag in that area. Johnson showed that he doesn't--he sat out last year and improved in every facet of his game.

Is he one and done? Does that affect anything anymore?

If a recruit is thought to be one n done, and the one year will make a significant impact on the team, sign him up...... If JTIII believe that Johnson is worthwhile, recruit him hard!

according to Telep, JTIII was in to see him over the weekend. He and Billy Donovan are the only two head coaches to do so this fall.
