Gwhiz, where is the money going to come from to bring in a new head coach, and hire assistants at salaries commensurate with their peers.
What we will get are coaches with limited resumes, no recruiting following, and they will lack the resources to be competitive.
Under current circumstances at GU, why should a coach want to take on a program that is in disarray, without a plan or direction.
Would you take a position in a business with these issues without a commitment from management to provide the resources to turn it around? I would not.

Gwhiz and nychoya3, we're all on the same page, but a change in head coach does not resolve the underlying problems. Change for the sake of change, changes nothing.
If this were a business, we would declare bankruptcy, bring in a new management team, and prepare a well funded Plan of Reorganization.
I suggest we file for "bankruptcy," prepare a new operating plan, and get the funding to make it work. If not, we are who we are, and nothing will materially change no matter who the head coach may be.
The University brass has to decide if GU is going to become a competitive D-1AA football program. A commitment from the University will send a signal to the alumni, supporters and friends of the program to step up to do their part.
We owe it to the players to give them the opportunity to compete on a level playing field.

Enough already!!!
Kevin Kelly is not Paul Brown, he is not Vince Lombardi. Georgetown's football problem is not about Kevin Kelly, it is about the lack direction and commitment by the University and Athletic Administation, and our failure as alumni, friends and supporters. Yes, all of us.
I can only image the promises made by the administation to Coach Kelly when was recruited to be our next head coach.
What about the commitment by the University to build a new venue. Millions of dollars were donated and pledged, there has been not any movement over the past 5 years to raise the funds to complete MSF, just excuses. How do those donors feel?
The Gridiron Club is disfunctional, no leadership and a dismal record of fundraising and reconnecting with our 1,200 football alumni.
So lets not kick the coach under the bus, that does not resolve the problem.
If our goal is to have a mediocre division 1-AA footfball program, we have suceeded.
I feel for our players, this is not what they had in mind when they made their commitment to GU.
It's not to late to address the problems and issues. Changing the captain of the Titanic would have resulted in the same outcome. What the Titanic needed was a new navigator.

This contest is the last, best hope of salvaging a win this season.
I am hopeful that the players and coaches are ready to play, and not just going through the motions.
See you at Marist.

I have attended the football awards banquets for the past four years, the same speech, "We are building a foundation for the future, ........."
No, we are still digging the hole for the foundation, we are now down to the sub, sub, sub basement, and continuing to dig.
This program is not going to fix itself, and there is no evidence that anyone is even trying.
I agree, we are never going to be ODU, I would like us to be 50% of ODU.
I propose we start all over again. Abandon this hole, find a new building lot, find an architect to come up with the plan, and start to build anew.
Our current hole may be too deep to get out of.

ODU, it was a great day.
With respect to MSF, don't expect any changes soon, it does not seeem to be a priority.
See you next year.

hoya98, yes, I have a plan. I submitted a proposal to Hoya's Unlimited and Gridiron Club two years ago, no response.
Let's beat Bucknell, then we can discuss.

This site has the same 8 to 10 folks, posting nothing but sarcastic and negative comments. No wonder the football program is in the crapper.
There are over 1,100 fooball alumni out there. Maybe if we get unified and organized, show we care and we want this program to succeed, we can demonstrate to the administration and athletic department that it is time to get serious.
If we don't care, why should they.

Yes, they're Coach Kelly's recruits, his assistants, his offense, but it's not necessarily all his fault.
Now it's time for the alumni and friends to take a stand. The other programs in the Patriot league have outstanding alumni support and the support of their universities, providing the resources and facilities to be competitive.
I suggest that the alumni and friends of the program organize and take a stand.
Let's stop bitching and complaining, and do something.
