Why not, I've never been to Fargo, but I did like the movie.

thoya, what is most disturbing to me is the lack of communication.
We really have no idea what is going on. I hope it is not the beginning of the end of the Hoya football program, but rather a quiet period waiting for a new AD.
The good news may be, things cannot get much worse.

98hoya, let me add to the list of unbelievable:
1. No progree report on new AD search 2. No announcement of new football assistants 3. No progress report on MSF 4. Incomplete football schedule for 2010 season 5. No published Spring Practice dates 6. Football awards lunch, brunch, dinner? 7. No fund raising effort 8. No effort to build football alumni support 9. The football website has not been updated in months 10. No news from Gridiron Club
When are we going to get serious about building a football program?

kchoya, what was the point spread on the ODU game? This game should have been an easy win.
Go back and look at the postings on the basketball message board before and after the ODU basketball game.
Who thought it was a cupcake game? Almost everyone.

How about the Toilet Bowl?
It could be for the two worst teams in America to square off, or for fans and alumni who don't give a crap.
Now that the NCAA is considering expanding the basketball tournament to 96 teams, why not a football bowl game for every team.

Reskins 12820, yes, it is absurb, as are most of the postings on this site.
But on a cold, snowy winter day in February, it's always fun to fantasize.

Big East football has other issues it may have to confront. With the talk of expansion in the Big 10; Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse would be prime targets. I would even throw Cincy into the mix.
We saw an exodus not too long ago.
Georgetown football moving into a softer Big East Conference after a group of defections, why not.

Okay, let's take a reality check.
Rich Radfords "article" in the Norfolk Virginian Pilot is a blog, an opinion piece, his opinion, and probably has nothing to do with reality.
Even more established programs put "cupcake" games on their schedule.
We may never know why the game was cancelled.
Could it be basketball related? Maybe GU basketball does not want to reschedule ODU. Remember ODU was thought to be a "cupcake" game for us.
Forget about ODU, let's move on.

Gentlemen, we should play the game to win, all the rest is just an excuse for mediocrity.
Tell a recruit that the purpose of our program is not to win, not to be competitive, but to build your character.
We can do better.

1. A truck load of pasta and milk shakes to add 30 pounds to each of our offensive and defensive lineman
2. A donor for the MSF
3. A new, innovative OC
4. A commitment from the University to build a football program we can all support and be proud of
5. A new AD with a commitment to build and win
6. Building a football alumni organization that will get behind the football program,, subject to #'s 4 and 5 above
7. Less bitching and complaining, a more proactive support
8. Fewer injuries
9. A limited schedule of exhibition games for underclassman to gain valuable experience before being thrown into the fire
10. Upgraded gameday radio broadcasts so we don't have to listen to our opponents radio station
May your hearts be filled with the spirit of the season, and may you all enjoy a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. GO HOYAS!!!!!

DFW HOYA, the real blow to Hofstra football was the loss of the New York Jets. The Jets used Hofstra as their training camp and practice facilities for years. The Jets moved to new facilities last year.
The loss of revenue to Hofstra was significant. The facilities, field, weight rooms, locker rooms, etc., were all built with New York Jets money.
During this period, Hofstra built its football program assuming the cash cow would last forever.
With respect to our basketball budget, the Verizon Center is sucking the funds out of the program. Put basketball back on campus, except for the six or seven big games, Syracuse, UConn, Louisville, Duke, Villanova, and a few others that can fill the phone booth. How much more net revenue would be generated to support GU athletics instead of supporting the Verizon Center?

hoyamac22, all I said was criticizing the players is out of bounds. The rest of your rant relates to nothing I have posted.
If you want to know what is wrong with GU football, try taking a look into the mirror. What have you done lately?

hoyanyr320, absolutely relevant to GU. Two programs, going in totally opposite directions.
Time for GU to make up their mind; check, (the status quo) raise, go all in, or fold.
I'm a gambler, lets play.

Everyone should read the article on URI, and their public commitment to rebuilding the football program.
It's time for GU President to make a statement.

DFW HOYA, you're right, its not all about money. We need to make a commitment to be successful. It is not going to happen all by itself.
As hoya3 pointed out, Fordham made a commitment for change, and now they have backed it with financial resources. Time will tell if they are successful, but at least they are making the effort.
If the alums and administration at GU want to have some success on the gridiron, its time to make a commitment, set goals, chart a course, and execute.
The status quo is unacceptable.
