Good points Jimmy. Of the many low points of seasons 4-ish years ago, that game was probably the lowest. JT3 was a fantastic hire and I can only hope he stays a Hoya for many years to come.

Why does a sportscaster pen a very good article only to inject a comment on the President? It's an easy joke, and there are few things in the world sportswriters like more than an easy joke. A free meal?

yes - it happens all the time! It's called the NBA. Players who choose to be coached by a true teacher of the game who utilizes what can hardly be described as a showy offense are not the type of players who would then publicly complain about minutes. There is a lot of self-selection in the process.

Keeping in mind the size of SJU's student section, my expert opinion (since you asked) is that security guards will be able to restrain the students from rushing the court.

How does All star voting work when the player switches conferences mid-season? Is his resume judged on his few weeks of western conference games or do his eastern conference (i.e. JV league) stats count towards inclusion on the western conference team?

One interesting thing from the breakdown is that our Assist % is 114th in the nation. Wouldn't one expect this to be higher considering our sharing-intensive O? No. Not sure if you've been reading the board lately. Our guards are selfish. To combat this, Roy has started inbounding the ball to himself, breaking the press, and driving to the basket.

Good point Eurostar. Two things in particular stand out: 1. Wallace & Green have improved a lot. Green had what most would consider an off year last year (if those exist) but 42% from 3 is pretty oustanding for a 6-8 guy who plays 'forward' 2. The Ewing-Sapp-Crawford trio has filled the three point void left by Cook-Owens-Bowman about as well as we could have hoped.

If these predictions are even close to accurate, Hoya fans across the District must be all wondering: How will the already crowded metro system handle such crowds!?

This thread has taken a wild detour away from anything remotely resembling attendance figures (For the record, I think Marquette will be a sellout and UConn will draw more than 15K.)
That said, RIP Barbaro. I think his passing could be eloquently marked by a quote or two from new Hoyatalk member Alberto Gonzales.

Scheduling pure patsies isn't in Boeheim's or Calhoun's best interest. Neither is going to get fired for a losing season. Really? It seemed to me on the Cuse bords that they were calling for Boeheim's head after the Louisiville game, and with the success that UConn has had for years, I can't immagine that too many fans are happy with Calhoun for this NIT bubble team. Perhaps their administrations are less fickle and imature than fans, but "fire (blank)" movements start from the fans. That's absurd. Neither Boeheim nor Calhoun are in any danger of being fired or forced out because of one lousy game or one disappointing season. Not gonna happen. Also, we should probably remember that some less than supportive things about JTIII come out of this board after losses. We probably shouldn't assume that restless internet posters reflect the state of affairs for any given school/fanbase after any given loss.

Before last year, the Hoyas hadn't beaten the the Johhnies in MSG since Jan 1997.

Also, keep scrolling down to watch the youtube of Austin Freeman dunking over some poor guy. It looked like he could have jumped all the way over him had he chosen to.

do you think teams have uncircled us jsut because of the rankings. If you're circled in the beginign you're still circled. i don't think anyone is taking us lightly because were not in the polls. There's a big difference between being taken lightly (something that will rarely ever happen given Georgetown's name and history), being thought of as a "big game" (where we are now) and and being a "huge game" that gets circled on the calendar (where we were when ranked in the top ten). I have no problem with the Hoyas being in other teams' "big game" category, but the competition gets a lot tougher when you start being the other team's "huge game." My point was that there is at least one advantage to not having that 'all important' number next to GTWN on the upper corner of the tv screen.

Are people really arguing for us to stay out of the top-25? Yeesh. It's really very simple: being in the top-25 is better than not being in the top-25. I don't care if it's AP, ESPN, Sagarin, Pomeroy....being in the top-25 is better. Stop suggesting that not being ranked is somehow better for the team or the program. I don't entirely disagree with you. The argument from the otherside, though, is that when we started the season in the top 10, we got everyones best shot. ODU's win over us was similiar to our win over Duke last year (in terms of how much it meant to their year - granted they haven't exactly capitalized on it like we did last year). Oral Roberts' coach was quoted as saying he spent the better part of a month prepping for us. Can you honestly say that it would be better for the team to have every single opponent circling our game on their calendar months or weeks in advance? Is that really better than casually driving up to Jersey, spanking Rutgers and the Hall and casually driving home? I agree with you that there are LOTS of positives that come from being ranked, but I disagree with you that there are no negative aspects to being ranked.

Any chance JW becomes a Steve Kerr-like presence in the NBA someday? I would love to see Jon Wallace win five NBA championships.

I couldn't agree more.
For some reason, none of last year's seniors seemed to get much respect until they left... at which point many Hoya fans suddenly got very nostalgic for Bowman, Cook, & Owens (& Amadou too). I am certain that the same thing will happen when Wallace leaves. With Wallace, we not only don't give him credit for being a NASTY shooter, we get on him for not being a "true" pg?? Austin & Chris will be great, no doubt, but Wallace will continue to be the floor general until he graduates.
