When about this time 4 seasons ago we went into the garden and layed and egg against a team with only 4 scholorship players left?
Remember how miserable it was?
Fast forward to last night.
That other team? Practically the same, just with a standup guy instead of a crook for a coach.
Us? Doing quite well.
So as much as we want to dog the hoyas for not doing this and that and JT3 not making this adjustment and that adjustment, just take one look at the forums at Redmen.com and realize how fortunate we are to have this new Thompson fella coaching at our school. Hoya Hoops has never been so much fun. Cheers.

Good points Jimmy. Of the many low points of seasons 4-ish years ago, that game was probably the lowest. JT3 was a fantastic hire and I can only hope he stays a Hoya for many years to come.

Heck I remember the year before that we blew a 17-point lead to the Johnies at MCI Center. I still have a pic of my roommate burning the ticket stub to try to purge the bad spirits...

Or the loss in the NIT final, or the 3-point loss in '01, or Dean Berry's miss, or getting blown out in '05 and watching the NCAA tournament fall through our fingers, or getting inexplicably clocked by them in '96 despite AI scoring a million points...wow it feels good to finally beat these guys at the Garden.

Was that the one where Marcus Hatten blew up for 38 points and the game was basically being played 5 versus 1 and we STILL lost? MMMMM BITTER ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) So great to have JT3 around these days. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I can sorta remember the play where SJU took the lead too. Somebody was trapped in the corner (I wanna say Bethel) and he tried to throw it out to Hall, who fell down like somebody had shot him. So the ball is just slowly rolling down the court towards the student section, and Marcus Hatten is taking his sweet time getting to it, so by the time he picks it up he just drops it in the basket. If you're scoring at home, the following happened in the month of January 2003: 1. The referee screw-job on Sweetney at Cameron Indoor. 2. The aforementioned home meltdown against the SJU Marcus Hattens. 3. The Tim Higgins phantom call against Drew Hall w/ 0.4 seconds left and the score tied at 64 at Pitt. 4. The Seton Hall six men on the court game. and last but not least... 5. The Esherick rant. Those were the days. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

I'm convinced that there has been a concerted effort to get Esh's rant off of the internet. It is nowhere to be found, which is quite amazing considering it is one of the best sports rants ever. If anyone ever tracks it down let me know.

It was also briefly the ringtone that played when I called my girlfriend's cell phone.

Thanks Rockaway and FL. Unfortunately, I've already tried the Fox Sports page, but the file for the Esh video is lost or corrupted or something. CONSPIRACY!

Didn't we also have a game where we only sent four guys out on the court that same year?

I hope Esh comes to the 100th anniversary dinner. I'll bet he would get a big ovation. People want to bury the hatchet I would think.

I will bury the hatchet when we have more NCAA births post Esherick than we had NIT births under Esherick, not a moment sooner.
