Somehow, the Verizon gods managed to get the replay screen working for this evening's Caps game. The screen must have had a rough night last night and was just a little too tired to wake up for the afternoon game

He should request a new scoreboard first. Today the replay screen had the day off... which made the Chevy Chase bank card giveaway and the Fan-o-The Game nearly difficult. This coming on the heels of the player points/fouls part of the board getting taking the last game off.

and... Vernon at #140 (Late 2nd to undrafted). I don't normally like to go out on a limb like this, but it is my opinion that if Vernon gets drafted #140, it will very likely NOT be in the "late 2nd."

This was the closest blowout I've ever seen. We dominated most every facet of the game and somehow they managed to keep the score respectable. From the stands, it felt like they never missed from 3... did somebody enter the wrong code on NBA Jam to make them on fire for the entire game?? Couldn't have been that, because if they had access to NBA Jam codes then we clearly would have seen some full court, triple-flip dunks. And the ball/net never caught fire after three straight made shots. Bunk theory. They did forget to enter the code for "having anyone who can match up against the 7'2" experience." That was their main mistake. Honestly, when their Saed is matched up against our Roy (#11 started the game parked firmly at the end of the bench, right next to the strength coach/water boy and ended the game posting up Roy), things are going to get ugly. Luckly for us, Roy Hibbert never misses. Ever.

and we're not necessarily looking for new rivals, thank you. wisconsin, notre dame, louisville, depaul ..... they've been on our schedule for years and are our biggest rivals. though the nastiness and intensity of games with pitt is quickly making them our newest rival. For the record, it was Marquette's beat writer who spent the time conjuring up a rivalry between us. That aside, all I consider Marquette right now is an important game on the big east schedule. There's simply no way I can look at Marquette as a "rival" just because they have been pretty good for the past year and a half (the only time that they have been of any relevance to the Georgetown program). Come back in another few years and maybe then we can start talking about a rivalry.

Neither school sponsors a football program Mostly correct.... Is it really that hard to just run a quick check of the school's website to verify facts??

It's not about how you start, it's about how you finish. Despite some nice moves (snorkelling was in the repertoire), Captain Casual Friday had no grand finale. With a better finish, this would have been a dance-off for the ages.
Amadou's brother was the Inaugural Hoya Dance Cam Dance Off Champion. Fact.

Last year we KILLED Cincy. It was one of our finer performances, though it is rarely talked about (rightfully overshadowed by Dook/Greg Oden U). We spread the ball around well and played some pretty darn good D as well. It would be fantastic to do the same thing all over again. I think Green had a good game but it was more our balance that Cincy couldn't counter. If they are still struggling with having to defend five players, they are going to be in for a long afternoon.

III has done a great, great job with Roy and Jon - to name a few who came in with little expectation of greatness. It will be very interesting to see what he can do with players like Summers/Macklin, who come in with high expectations... or with players like Freeman/Wright who come in expected to immediately take the team to another level.

Of our 5 losses, Lunardi has Nova as a 9 seed, Duke as a 3, Pitt as a 2, and Oregon as a 2.
We really only have one loss that can still be considered "bad" given what the talking heads are currently saying. (not saying we shouldn't have won some of those games though...)

If we're not ranked highly in luck, does that make us "unlucky" or is that a different metric?

Excitableboy, JWalls (pg)...Point guard-an extension of the coach on the floor...leads the offense in getting "everyone" involved...knock down the jumper when open, not forced...JWalls 10 pts. 3 rebounds, 3 assists, he's down his job for the night...you have to know when to shoot and when not too...no true points guards shoot like that...Everyone in America knows we have a guard problem...Jessie is really getting better especially at being more agressive driving to the back...JWalls is starting to drive more also...they are developing, but remember this and I know its next season...the guards that are coming are already developed and very fundamental...although they may come off of the bench you will see how pg and guard play should be more consistent... I appreciate your thoughtfulness in providing me with the definition of guard and pg. The thing is, though, that you said our guards were selfish, I said they weren't (as evidenced by the fact that Wallace has started for us for three years and had never scored more than 20 points before the last game). You also say that a pg should get everyone involved and have 3 assists. Well, Wallace averaged more than 3 assists last year and is doing the same this year. If you are really all that fed up with our guards not penetrating or dishing the ball enough, please feel free to follow the NBA, where it is an all too common sight to see a guard take the ball the length of the floor, dribble around for a few seconds and heave up a contested shot (granted, they also usually make those contested shots). In the meantime, understand that our offense does not work this way. Rarely do we clear out one side of the floor to allow Wallace to isolate his man and take him off the dribble. Maybe this is the way other coaching legends have done it, but it is not the way the motion offense works and, for many Hoya fans, JTIII's system is working just fine, thank you.

Jighsmith, Just wanna address some issue about what you said and I respect your opinion and accuracy...I agree with the first paragraph...the second paragraph you're right Jessie and Jonathan stepped up, but they didn't get Roy the ball enough because they either do not how to give those fundamental passes or they just don't want to give Roy the ball because they're concerned about their own stats and making headlines like Roy...go figure... Oh, come on. Wallace is a three year starter and his career high, his CAREER HIGH is 21 points. Yep, sounds exactly like someone who makes a conscious effort to pad their own stats at the expense of their teammates. There is also a third theory that doesn't necessitate blaming everything on the guards. In a "normal" college set, players are stationary for longer than in a "motion" offense (by definition). When players are moving and passing almost all of the time, the opportunities for Jeff & Roy to get in position and for our guards to get the ball into them are necessarily more limited than if we had three or four guys passing the ball around the perimeter and one or two guys parked in or near the lane waiting to receive a pass.

At this point, who really cares how much we win by? We controlled both of our Garden State games to the point that the outcome was almost never in question. Lets face it, a blowout win over Rutgers or Seton Hall isn't going to sway many AP voters our way (if that's what you're concerned about) and it's not like we weren't able to put these teams away - neither of them could mount a second half charge that pulled them within even ten points (if that's what you're concerned about). In addition, after the recent changes to the BCS selection criteria, we no longer need to worry about margin of victory.... wait

ESPN says we shot 55% from the field, 47% from 3, and 79% from the line.
Strangely enough, the only one of those three percentages that stands out is the 79% from the line. I guess we get spoiled sometimes...

Apparently Tyler Crawford can teleport from one end of the court to the other. His goaltend/block with about 20 seconds left was pretty friggin sweet.
Also, the alleys and oops were bountiful tonight. Couple this with our new ability to break a press and we looked a lot like a team that should be fun to watch in March.
(Yes, I know, lots of turnovers, still have shortcomings, etc etc)
