When I see players bouncing from stop to stop, in and out of the portal, etc., I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Remember trying to figure out what you were going to do, where you were going to go at that age? And we did not have handlers or hangers on or a posse whispering in our ear with their self-interested advice.

I seem to remember posters who were pretty certain that Tyler taking a prep year meant he would not be a Hoya.
Then he spent the year working.

I wouldn’t Ming him getting 20 plus minutes a game next year. Big upside here. Not sure about 20 unless his defense improves, but I could see 5 or 6 minutes a half - and more if he is En Fuego. |

Jalen Pickett from Siena has entered the portal. 6'4" guard, can play both spots. 3 time all-MAAC first team, Player of the Year in 2019-20. 36% career from 3, also a strong kid who can get to the rim. Had some nagging injury issues this year but nothing major. Has 2 years left with the COVID year. Not sure of our need, but for comparison he is a better overall player than Carey. If we have the option, I would take Carey, who is 6’5”, already knows what Pat wants, started playing better defense by January, and shot 45%! from 3 and 88% FT. Also, we desperately need his senior/grad leadership in a team of mostly underclassmen. On a team that needs shooters, Carey is in sacred Jonathan Wallace territory. I did not mean to suggest we should take Pickett over Carey - just a comparison as to whether Pickett would be worth pursuing. |

I am deeply concerned about us having zero seniors if Blair, Pickett and Bile move on. I would give anything if we could get Baldwin and our seniors were to stay. Carey. |
