Maybe his assistant position is dependent on Tyrell coming here?๐

So now the working assumption is that we are greasing the wheels with recruits, based on no facts at all. That makes sense. Not to mention the concept that Georgetown has a mysterious slush fund to "influence" recruits and transfers that dwarfs the significant deals they can get at schools with lucrative NIL programs in place. I am still waiting for TC or boya to actually address how likely that is.

What is needed at the 4 is another version of Pickett in his senior season--long, relatively quick, a good rebounder and a threat from the perimeter. I think they can live without another PG, assuming Dante is back and Anglin can eat some minutes there. We must add another legit big and preferably two - you can't count on Ryan or Malcolm for impact contributions. Agree 100% that the second most important addition would be a Pickett-esque 4 (this CAN NOT be Bass nor Holloway). And in a perfect world, you'd add another facilitating point. Right now, we've got a roster-full of 2s and 3s and a likely repeat of last season's mess. With Ward and Bates, it might at least be watchable. Last season was visual dentistry. You dam anti-dentite!๐คฌ

Some HoyaTalk Recruiting Board posts from August 2020, when Murray chose to attend LSU: thedragon: Murray had every opportunity to pop for Gtown and chose not to because he wanted a more lucrative recruitment from the big boys. Not sure why were beating this dead horse. (Post liked by hoyalove4ever) s4hoyas: Evidently, the bank is still open $$$...(Post liked by hoyalove4ever) BigmanU: Believe me, the juice aint worth the squeezin'...He's just a guy and this is coming from a B'More dude. Hoyas4Ever: Brief ca$e/duffel bag arrived on time! A check is to ea$y to trace. Ca$h is a lot ea$ier to cover up. (Post liked by hoyalove4ever and MCIGuy) FrazierFanatic: If Brandon enters the transfer portal after a year or two, I wonder if the tone of the board suddenly changes??๐ค TC: Wonder if we can get back into this if it looks like LSU goes on probation. Hoyas4Ever: Why would Coach Ewing and the staff want to get involved with him again? What makes you think he isn't one of the recruit$ that $ecured the bag putting his college eligibility in peril ala Brian Bowen? (Post liked by hoyalove4ever, MCIGuy, zxhoya, jwp91, njhoyalawya) bostonfan: Exactly. You have to think the player knew the type of program he was going to when he committed to LSU. If that is the type of program he wants to be part of, then I am not sure he is a good fit for the Hoyas. He is a good player and may turn out to be a quality NCAA player for someone, but I don't think Georgetown is going to make the type of offer he is looking for. (Post liked by NCHoya, CTHoya08, zxhoya, njhoyalawya) BeantownHoya:...and I would have to assume w/everything that happen last year the staff treads very lightly around any situation that is questionable. I am not questioning the integrity of the player but he has committed to a university that any outsider would say "something feels shady"...I think Murray is an excellent prospect but Ewing needs strong character kids that are 100% committed to gtown (which i think he has hit a homerun with this recruiting class and next years) or he is going to find himself out of a job... jwp91: He went to a clearly dirty program. Thatโs on him. Any resulting implications are also on him. Thank you for quoting my wise and prescient post boya. An age-old message board certainty - we lose a player to $$$, we get the same player without $$$.

Caleb Love averaged 3.1 assists as a senior PG. I saw no reports that UNC recruited him with a basket of fish. Caleb was a 5* kid. I'm not trying to defend PofD but your example isn't apples to apples...more like apples to tomatoes...I think Denver's team required him to score a little more than PofD is giving him credit for. That's my point - especially in high school, top notch point guards are as much or more scorers than facilitators, so 3 assists a game is not a negative.

I think I transposed numbers - looks like 239ish over the three seasons that i have numbers for. Based on 66 games, still close to 4 per game. He lead his team each season. A trained seal could get 4 assists a game in high school. Probably even an untrained one. Caleb Love averaged 3.1 assists as a senior PG. I saw no reports that UNC recruited him with a basket of fish.

Good post, I totally agree. We can have a debate when we have facts to argue about. The concept of requiring facts before arguing incessantly on this Board simply boggles the mind.๐ค

Brooks is a elite recruiter. Can we please fix the title of this thread to his actual first name? "We" did fix it. "We" have a close professional colleague named John Brooks, so when "our" brain said type "Jordan", "our" hands typed "John." "We" hope the typo did not cause too much antacid consumption as a result. I am simply saddened by the stark realization that you are not infallible as I had always believed.๐ฏ

I don't think we had a lot of options. Some nights Aminu taking it to the rim against 3 defenders was as good as any other option we had.

Pretty sure calling a player - and a new recruit at that - an idiot will be deleted by tonight. 9797 I don't disagree that Ewing has been terrible and in 98% of programs would be gone. I am not as bitter as you about it but I get it, and don't have a problem with your repeated "reminders" to the Board. But c'mon, calling a teenager an idiot? Of course he is going to say he wants to play for the coach, whether or not that is one of his primary reasons. Choose your battles a little more appropriately. Turns out heโs not a teenager. Oh well that's okay then๐

Shocked. Just shocked. No matter how much freedom, how many financial opportunities - players will want more, programs will offer more, rules will mean little or nothing. I can't see how any of the onus of this mess can be placed on the players.. I'm not a fan of the transfer exemption rule but the players didn't create it I am not criticizing the rule at all. Just saying that no matter how the rules may change/loosen, there will always be some coaches and programs breaking the new rules, and some players who are more than open to reaping the benefits.

JBill has a role to fill, was probably asked to do more than he was ready for as a freshman. Seems like a guy who will work hard to improve, hopefully his role next year will fit his abilities.

No of course not. I desperately hoped I was misreading things and just discouraged after a bad game. Unfortunately my sense of the many deficiencies of this particular collection of players was not wrong. Its partly on the players but the bulk of the blame has to fall on the staff in my view.. Watching the games over the past two weeks really drives home how poorly coached, prepared & developed Gtown is right now. I certainly did not mean to excuse the many failings of the staff, which of course fall on the man in charge. I was just referring to the many one-dimensional players, the lack of balance, and the disjointed way the team was put together and therefore performed together.

I take no satisfaction in the "0-20" thread, desperately wanted to be wrong by at least a handful of wins.
This one is easier: a record low level of activity on HoyaTalk this off season. So little for the optimists to post about; and without the optimistic yin to agitate them, the pessimistic yang will have less to react to.
