I took zero pride last year in having called the big doughnut of a season fairly early in January. It just appeared obvious to me - too many one dimensional players, no team concept, very little basketball intelligence, nothing to instill confidence.
A new season, almost an entirely new roster - and nothing has changed. The same one skill players. Selfish, sloppy play. No basketball sense.
I think we slop out an ugly win somehow and somewhere. But I have no confidence that we can do it twice.
I have lived and died with the Hoyas for 43 years. I do desperately want them to be winners
I just know they won't.

As expected, we'll go ahead and add this to the running tally of attendance excuses: Election night and Georgetown has huge student population interested in government - Coppin State Bad start time (8:30 pm) - Coppin State Bad start time (11 am on a Saturday) - Green Bay Rainy outside - Northwestern Bad start time (6:30 pm) - Northwestern People need to eat dinner and apparently can't do that before 6:30, after 8:30 or during the game at the arena - Northwestern Small Hoyas pep band, therefore no good music to listen to before the game starts - Northwestern Start time earlier than most college students awaken the day before Thanksgiving - American Excuse me - for the record I was NOT listing it as an excuse, more simply my the continuing marvel I have for the Whatever You Want to Call It Center's scheduling offerings. You are not being negative enough Dan - neutrality is a sin in this day and age.

Oddly reminiscent of him taking Jalen Harris' spot and having Jalen disappear into the ether. The Vanishing Harrises I have all of their albums.

Bad shot selection. Lack of effort on defense and on the boards. Disjointed schemes on both ends.
Seen this show too many times before. Losing interest faster every season.

I don't think I commented on this commit but good job by anyone involved bringing him in, like I get the whole crazy transfer era we are in but Marvel and his ranking, whatever it may end up being, is the kind of player you build with long term goals in mind. Like not necessarily NBA high draft but by year 2 or 3 he is a genuine beast in the conference Please try to stay on topic. You did not even mention boya, 2003, TC, guru, or 9797 in your post.

O.K., boys -- back to the topic -- Marvel Allen. Or go gripe and snipe at each other in a different thread devoted to griping and sniping. EVERY thread is devoted to griping and sniping right now - it's the off-season!

Excellent news, a great start to '23.
Welcome Mr. Allen. Now get back to work!

If the ACC gets to the point that they want UConn's football program, it has become a mid-major football conference with all its games aired on The Ocho.

I get that he has failed as a head coach other than 4 days in March last year. But at this point it is clear that he will be our coach next season. And every loss will give opportunity to highlight that failure. I prefer to hope for a miraculous turnaround next year, but I can understand those willing to sacrifice another year if that could somehow force a change. You guys are too much. I guess you are trying to argue with 97s (with what end goal, I don't know) but all you're doing is giving him his best day on the board since Georgetown went 0-20. All 97s cares about is being right. His whole existence on this board is to tell people that he is smart (and conversely, if you don't agree with him, you are stupid) and the more he can agitate and get responses, the more he can respond by telling people that he is/was right. He'd rather be right than Georgetown be successful...it's what distinguishes him from most other posters that hate Ewing. If you didn't know people like this while at Georgetown, then maybe we went to different schools. And yes, I get that this post will give him another platform to post about his great insight, but I'm hoping people will just let him do his thing going forward. It is truly pathetic, of course. Believe me, I get it. But let him have this and let's move on. hm C'mon hoops, a little thrust and parry during the off-season can be both entertaining and mentally challenging! I try not to engage often, but every once in awhile . . .

Of course that is not true. There are, of course, some who don't agree with the message and never did. But there are many more of us who agreed at the end of last season that the results last year justified and called for a change - but are tired of the same message being inserted into virtually every thread, even where irrelevant to the thread, and hundreds of times by a few members. It accomplishes nothing at this point. It keeps the urgent need to replace this historic failure of a coach top of mind. It’s a disgrace what this guy has done to GU basketball on and off the court (the APR story should be a non-stop topic of outrage) and I find it unbelievable that anything other than firing Ewing is talked about. As long as people pretend like Ewing has a clue, I’ll keep pointing out the reality of the situation.

When those voices say the exact same thing, over and over and over, in every conversation and every context, most people just shut out the voices and therefore the message loses effectiveness. The shutting out is because people don’t want to hear the message not that the message has been delivered too often. It is such a chore to come on this board these days. Imagine what it’s like being one of the few voices of reason. When those voices say the exact same thing, over and over and over, in every conversation and every context, most people just shut out the voices and therefore the message loses effectiveness.

I’m surprised someone so old would still be a D1 prospect. Agreed - don't you have to be over 65 and grumpy at the world to live in the Villages? 6 more months before I qualify😉

Two days before my 65th birthday. I will make the trip from Albany with my kids (both mild Syracuse fans, my greatest failure in life). Patrick and the boys could give me a special birthday 🎁
