Eric Bossi @ebosshoops 2023 Matt Reed is going to be a big name in Texas. Big, skilled, tough and more than holding his own playing 17U.

Ewing and assistant coaches were at the Gonzaga v St. John's high school summer league game and caught Amani Hansberry, a 6'8" rising freshman (2023) for St. John's not only hold his own, but defended Gonzaga's top 2 players inside really well and was an inside and mid-range scorer leading St. John's. He has great footwork and as a moves well for a young still growing player with size. Former Hoya assistant David Cox, now Rhode Island head coach, was there with his assistant and former Hoya assistant Kevin Sutton. They were around the following day to have another look (they also are recruiting Ish Legget) and made Amani an offer Tuesday.
Amani is going to be special at the prep level and connecting with Patrick he could really be a showcase player at the next level as well.

Not really up to speed on their current roster but I know they have Armani Hansberry who has played well in national competition at a young age Hansberry, is going to be really special. A true 14 year old leading Durant 14U (which is mostly reclass players) and causing problems for opposing teams on both ends. Really good inside and mid-range game and really solid footwork for a high school player of any age. This summer during open sessions with a guy filled with top college coaches he gave '20 GU Terrance Williams fits on both ends. An incoming freshman couldn't be stopped by a senior (Miles Stute had problems with him as well). He is a really nice kid as well, which is great to see. Coaches can't talk to him for two more years, but they can watch him go nuts. He does have an offer from Rhode Island already.

More ready to impact a high school game as freshmen -- at least they were on Saturday -- were 6-foot-6 post Amani Hansberry of Washington (D.C.) St. John's and 5-foot-8 point guard Angelo Kambala of Coronado. Hansberry is a strong and tough dude who loves physical contact and has strong hands. To see him get a double double and be a go to guy in the lane of a competitive game this early in his career speaks well to his future. He finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds. As for Kambala, he could have easily passed for a seventh grader with his baby face and lack of physical development, but his game is mature. He looks like an absolutely lights out shooter who has some feel for the game. He hit four big threes and gave Coronado a spark before Jaden Hardy caught fire. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/beach-ball-classic-andre-curbelo-goes-big-p-j-hall-d-j-steward-more
