Count them down. We will hurt for 35 more days. Then relief.

Winless in conference will be termed, “you pulled a Patrick Ewing” So are we shooting for the Double Ewing, once thought to be only an unobtainable myth?

We could be missing up to four key rotation guys. Has anyone ever been shut out before? Twice. But it's been 115 years. Dayton 80 Cedarville College 0 Oregon Agricultural College 74 Albany College 0

The Butler game should be the latest line in the sand, right? Not only is there no line, there is no sand! I disagree. Quicksand. We keep sinking.

Any truth to the rumor that our bulldog is embarrassed and wants to change his name?

Mr. Riley, we all want to see Jordan on the court, we need the things he can contribute. Hopefully our coach recognizes that and soon.

Not sure which is more painful - the Hoyas going out early?
Or
Syracuse playing for the Cup on Monday night!

England v. France for me. I'll tape the Hoyas. Hope I will want to watch it. That starts at 2 pm. Think Hoya game is at noon But there is a 2 hour postgame/pregame show, still more entertaining than the Hoya-Orange trainwreck

Two terrible teams in a terrible game.
A coach who can't coach any more vs. a coach who never could.

They beat Seton Hall. Which is a better team than we are. So . . .

I could not have even imagined saying this in the 43 years I have been a Hoya fan: My wife is a huge Little House on the Prairie fan. Melissa Gilbert is promoting her new book about her time on the show here in Albany with a one hour Q & A followed by a book signing all starting at 7. My wife of course wants very much to go, but said she would understand if I wanted to stay home and watch the game (already get ESPN+ on our flat screen with our Fire stick). I never gave it a moment's thought - Melissa here I come. I watch most weekend games on the DVR so it isn't like you will miss watching it if you want to see it since it is On Demand on ESPN+ I aware of that. I will check the score. If we win I will watch. If not, I'm good.

I am not defending Ewing - I am wildly uncomfortable with bringing in a (another?) sleazeball. What actions make Pitino a sleazeball? Would anyone here stomach that invective being applied to JT2 or Ewing for similar actions? Having sex with his secretary in a restaurant while he was married? And yes I would.

So going from one cesspool to another by hiring Pitino is the way? There will be healthier ways to do it. If he’s good enough for a private Roman Catholic university like Iona, Pitino is good enough for us. Iona believed in him and gave him a second chance. Let’s not be “holier than thou”. I don’t know if you’re Roman Catholic, like GU is, but second chances is a thing. A reformed Pitino on the sidelines is just what the doctor ordered to get over a decade of the Thompson/Ewing incompetence. Cheated on his wife in a restaurant with his secretary. Oversaw a program that bought hookers for recruits. I believe in second chances. He had his.

It took me longer to move to the "time for a change" camp, but I got there at the end of last season. But I would absolutely abhor that change being a slimeball like Slick Rick. I feel the same way about our basketball program polluted by proven losers (as Elvado detailed in a previous post), every single one of them including the Chief of Staff, dividing an annual booty of $15M while being of the worst programs in college basketball. The only way they can do it is by having insiders/family in every position so that nothing leaks out. Jack DeGioia allows this to happen. We need the national media to make a big story out of it. So going from one cesspool to another by hiring Pitino is the way? There will be healthier ways to do it.

I hate to be this frank, but why on earth would any good basketball player come to Georgetown University? I am honestly skeptical of any recruit who seriously considers Georgetown. I wonder what their problem is That is probably a question that deserves its own thread within the recruiting forum The “bring back Georgetown to where it was” recruiting pitch is so flawed. The only thing/one bringing GU back is Pitino. It took me longer to move to the "time for a change" camp, but I got there at the end of last season. But I would absolutely abhor that change being a slimeball like Slick Rick.

I took zero pride last year in having called the big doughnut of a season fairly early in January. It just appeared obvious to me - too many one dimensional players, no team concept, very little basketball intelligence, nothing to instill confidence.
A new season, almost an entirely new roster - and nothing has changed. The same one skill players. Selfish, sloppy play. No basketball sense.
I think we slop out an ugly win somehow and somewhere. But I have no confidence that we can do it twice.
I have lived and died with the Hoyas for 43 years. I do desperately want them to be winners
I just know they won't.

As expected, we'll go ahead and add this to the running tally of attendance excuses: Election night and Georgetown has huge student population interested in government - Coppin State Bad start time (8:30 pm) - Coppin State Bad start time (11 am on a Saturday) - Green Bay Rainy outside - Northwestern Bad start time (6:30 pm) - Northwestern People need to eat dinner and apparently can't do that before 6:30, after 8:30 or during the game at the arena - Northwestern Small Hoyas pep band, therefore no good music to listen to before the game starts - Northwestern Start time earlier than most college students awaken the day before Thanksgiving - American Excuse me - for the record I was NOT listing it as an excuse, more simply my the continuing marvel I have for the Whatever You Want to Call It Center's scheduling offerings. You are not being negative enough Dan - neutrality is a sin in this day and age.
