Can't imagine the spread being more than a possession or two under 4 minutes to go. Imagine there's no unfair officiating. It's easy if you try. Imagine Otto draining mid-range shots. It isn't hard to do.... Hoyas by 15. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And Hoyatalk will be as one. Imagine all the people, filling up the stands... I hope tonight they'll join us, so I'm not the only one

Will they be speaking from the Old North Porch? Didn't you mean the Old North Pooch?

So, I had not realized that the game was going to be on CBS and I am going to be out of the coverage area. Does anyone have thoughts on how to watch?

He's got game. Nice to see the hoodie is traditional blue and gray. Well the first hoodie is in Blue and Gray but we should expect at least 6 different hoodies by year end, including a Nike hoodie made with experimental fabric. A kente cloth version is reportedly under consideration.

Absolutely one of the most satisfying and improbable wins ever given the refereeing and venue.

Or we poach a few of their good programs that don't actually care about football? But either way, over expansion is mistake at this point, with so many things in flux. conversely under expansion doesn't get us a good enough TV deal. It's a precarious postition. I agree not bringing on teams that are iffy. Grab the best bball programs out there and I will keep saying this till i'm blue in the face: we need memphis and temple (at the very least) to stay on with us I don't see how more teams gets us a better TV deal unless the rights fee effect of the incremental teams exceeds the average value of the core teams. $12 million for 8 teams is way better than $16 million for 16 teams.

Am I the only one terrified by the continued reference to the 7 schools as Catholic? In reality, they are non-D1 football schools which I realize is unwieldy, but which is potentially more inclusive - e.g. Butler - than a Catholic league.
I think Catholic may be limiting with some recruits and I know that JTIII has rejected the potential terminology in the past.
On another note, wouldn't it make sense to announce the groundbreaking on the IAC at the same time as we were announcing our new league?

Im with Boxout on his original point. You need teams that will lose, but most importantly be ok with losing. And from everything we have seen recently SHU is ok with losing if they get to hang out with the popular kids (though that popularity is waining). Rutgets and South Florida didnt seem to mind either. Someone is going to lose. If there are 15 league games in a 16 team league, that is 240 games. So 240 loses. Someone is going to end up with a lot of loses. its best if those teams are ok with it. Actually the math is (15x16)/2 = 120 as to the number of games and therefore losses, not 240. Said another way, the league would have 16 teams, each with an average record of 7 1/2 wins and 7 1/2 losses. 16 x7 1/2 =120. I am making this substantive contribution to the discussion on the off chance that the ACC might consider our academic reputation as a relevant grounds for inclusion.

Great call b&g... 1st round of the NCAAs in 1984 the Hoyas beat SMU 37-36 helped in large part by a Pat Ewing tip in of a missed free throw with 8 seconds to go. Of course we all know how that season finished up. Ugly win yes, but it is only November... Same score but not an analog game. Pre shot clock and pre 3 point shot, SMU held the ball for large stretches of the game. Also it was not in the first round but rather the second round. This was the year before the tournament expanded from 48 to 64 and we got a bye in the first round as a 1 seed.

I think you overstate your case. We do need the post players to assert themselves and serk to shoot even if i is not yet productive. I also expect MH's game to grow into his level of confidence. Do I? Hopkins is using a higher percentage of possessions than any Hoya in recent history. Will he grow into being a better player than Hibbert, Monroe or Green this season? Because that's his apparent level of confidence. He can assert himself at 15% usage like most other ineffective players until he figures it out. Much of the usage percentage is being driven by the turnovers. The turnovers are a function of the offense, not Mikael's offensive aggressiveness. JT III is clearly force feeding Mikael the ball in the hope of developing the post, and I find it heartening that he only had 1 turnover against Indiana. I suspect that Nate's overall efficiency is being dragged down by his time at the 5.

Krukster - I have an outstanding ticket for you - 5th row, behind bench - should you want it for tonight. Text me at 314-330-7896.

A few thoughts from last night's game.
Sitting behind the Hoya's bench, it is clear that Tyler Adams is the single most enthusiastic bench presence ever. Props to the kid for dealing with his setback this well.
People need to dial back the criticism of Mikael. He has skills and he is working very hard. He will get a lot better. By the way, on the play at the end of the half where he didn't try to contest the Shabazz shot, the bench was yelling at him not to foul.
One thing that has received very little attention on the board this year is Otto's three point shooting. While he was awful last year, he had a high percentage -albeit with limited attempts - in high school and was supposedly much improved at the camps over the summer. A credible three makes him a much tougher player because it opens up a lot of cutting in our offense.
I may be suffering from irrational exuberance, but I think we will win tonight.

A couple of other Georgetown connections in the induction class. Ken Sailors was the star of the Wyoming team that beat the Hoyas in the 1943 National Championship game. Joe B. Hall was the coach of the Kentucky team that lost to the Hoyas in the 1984 National Semifinal in a game that many view as the greatest defensive performance ever by a Hoya team. Hall attributed the team's inability to score to "extracerrestrial forces."

Wet floor. Fortunately our offense does not rely on quick cuts.
