Dude, I put sexual references in my article. Like, two of them. That makes me cool. Oh, and by the way: UCLA undergrad enrollment: 25,000 Georgetown undergrad enrollment: 6,000 Dude, that's like four times. And I saw like three to four times the UCLA fans as Georgetown fans. Duuude! Condoms! There were so many things wrong with this article that I don't really want to spend the time going through them all. Suffice to say that Columbus does not qualify as a "great" city in my book. Also, you spend $100 million on athletics and lose national title games.

"A student, John Kaszuba, said he scored just a 1170 on the SAT but was admitted in part because he played football.
'It’s real embarrassing to take a kid like that,' said Kaszuba, a junior who no longer plays football. 'I can’t really see where they thought he was going to make it here.'"
Come on, dude.

Nothing got me more pumped up at East Rutherford than yelling "Hey! You edited!" (I think that's another one of those editable words) when the enemy band played R&R part2.
They may take away our lives, they may even take away our freedom, but they will never take my ability to yell 'You suck' when the opponent's band plays R&R part 2!!!

Tim Wickham-Crowley. You're an adult who just called out a former student in the NY Times. Hope you feel big time. Like a manly man, now, huh? Taking half your wife's name got you so emasculated that you have to pick on a twenty year old that isn't even at school anymore? You'd think of all people, a Sociology professor would be one of the most likely to come to the defense of Egerson. As far as we know, Egerson successfully completed all three of his semesters on the Hilltop. This was after Georgetown took a chance on a kid despite his past. I would think a sociologist, of all people, recognize the benefits of giving kids second (or first) chances.

This is disgusting. I don't have much to add, but I haven't been so upset about an article in a long time. I think DeGioia handled this quite well. I wish I could say the same about Mr. 1170. Are you kidding me? He's chilling at the bottom of GU admits with Marc and he's not even playing the sport that got him admitted! What's far worse than Mr. 1170 not playing football is his total failure to recognize his similarities to Egerson academically. He, like Egerson, was the beneficiary of a relaxed admissions policy for some athletes. Is this necessarily a bad thing? No. But what he needs to realize is that in order to EARN that spot that other qualified applicants were turned away from, he needs to represent the university well. Egerson did this, 1170 did not. Egerson's past wasn't necessarily something to brag about, but he successfully completed three semesters here, played admirably on the court, and stayed out of trouble off the court. You can't ask for more for a kid given a 'second' chance at Georgetown so I don't see why his place at Georgetown deserves to be retroactively second-guessed.

When I read this thread title I got kind of excited when because I thought the bum would be giving his thoughts on Rome--the city or the empire. Alas, we were not that lucky.

It's really sad to see things like this. Such ignorance and fear. Apparently fear is back, respect is next.

There's a better version on ESPN somewhere by Fran Fraschilla. Fraschilla's article is espn.go.com/ncb/2003/0304/1517990.html. A lengthy read, for sure, but well worth it. I'll post again in the off season. It warrants more attention than this weekend can offer.

That is simply a great photo of an even greater moment in Hoyas history.

If we want to talk about distractions, how about JTIII going on every radio and television show this side of the Mississippi since Sunday? I don't want to see or hear from him until the post-game press conference on Saturday. Great to do these interviews to raise the profile of the program, etc. for a day or two, but he has three teams to prepare for right now. Really. If you're worried about III not properly preparing for a game, you might also want to begin worrying about things such as the sun not coming up tomorrow and gravity ceasing to exist. III gets things done.

Amazing that the play was actually called for Ewing. Also amazing that Green could improvise so well when plan A didn't work.

You are always going to have these Claire-types at G'town. I remember back in 1996 after the loss to UMass one of my buddies was so enraged seeing people in the library studying instead of watching the game, that he went in and yelled at everyone in the library. Good times. hm Or the types who are in the library prior to the start of each semester. Without defending Claire Cooper or the Post's reporter in any way/shape/form, people will always have some sort of excuse to be in the library. Guarantee that even Saturday night will find a non-deserted library. That doesn't excuse them from being LAME or WEAK though.

It's good that the school is giving more than 30 minutes warning about their departure. Hopefully lots of people will be there and the team can get the send off they deserve.

It really depends what metric you use to judge how "big" it is.
From a basketball perspective, no way does the Duke win rank in the top four. We've won some pretty clutch games these past two years.
From a fan's perspective I'm not sure I'd rank anything other than the UNC game above it. Look, I was at the South Florida game--along with a few hundred of my closest student friends and about 5,000 others--that immediately preceeded the Duke game. The atmosphere was, to be brutally honest, much like the last years of Esh, save the chanting. Four days later, the Hoyas beat Duke in front of 20,000 fans (1,500 or so students?) and for the rest of the season people cared again. That win changed more about the program than any other win (save UNC) on these lists.

Again, looking for slights. So Boswell, merely one Post sports columnist, not the entire paper, believes Jeff travelled. My goodness, is he the only sports figure with that opinion? How many Post other sportswriters have cited Jeff travelling? Call me an apologist, but this is pathetic. What, the Post is supposed to stick up for GU? Get real! Looking for slights is one thing. Having your hometown paper call out your sweet sixteen and elite eight victories as a fluke and a choke job is quite another. Sure, this team doesn't dominate its opponents like a team that made three of four final fours, but it's not like the DC area is swimming in great sports teams that are crushing their competition. If you want to hold teams to rediculous standards like that, fine. But before you do that, TAKE DOWN THE WNBA ATTENDANCE CHAMPION BANNERS.

Is the game available online? I don't think the standard March Madness Ondemand is available for the final four, anyone know of any other method to watch?
