continues to repeat his canard about the'04 team failiong to reach the BET. It is a pathology with him. He has no care whatsoever for accuracy.

At this point, I think he knows he is wrong, but does it just to dig at Georgetown fans and get a rise out of them.
When he first made the mistake during a call that he initiated to WTEM, he caused significant agitation among Georgetown fans. I don't think he cares about the statement's inaccuracy - he just loves to get under our skin.

When I read this thread title I got kind of excited when because I thought the bum would be giving his thoughts on Rome--the city or the empire. Alas, we were not that lucky.

honestly, why should anyone care what this has-been has to say? he wrote a good book 2 decades ago. now he's a windbag on the lamest show on television, the sports reporters. rome calls him one of the 5 smartest men or something like that - he wouldn't be one of the 5 smartest men at my local mcdonald's.

I thought maybe he was on Rome, the HBO show. I have watched very carefully and never noticed in him in any of the takes. Can now think of some he might have been really appropriate in.

Georgia, Texas, or Italy? Should've put your disclaimer on that one -- there is no Rome, Texas. Although we do have an Italy.

Because I remain incensed by his antics, I wrote the Post ombudsman about him.
She can be reached at ombudsman@washpost.com
I encourage all to register their outrage.

I apologize for translating the name of "Roma, Texas" into English without explaining myself. Your suggestion, however, is a good one, and I will be incorporating it into my future posts.

If you are truly familiar with Roma, Texas, I am guessing you have experience in trafficking either sinsemilla or people. Or maybe that's the US entry point for illegal tailpipe whistles?
