The NIT gives coach Thompson an opportunity to get his team back. If he fails DePaul will not have to worry about finishing last in the Big East next year. This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Substantiate you comparison between the programs of Georgetown and Depaul - site specific instances of how Georgetown's one time disappointing finish in the league is similar to DePaul's several years of mediocrity. Cite how Georgetown's recruiting, coaching, fan support, program stature, and athletic department commitment are similar to that of DePaul. We have the horses - we are a few puzzle pieces and some experience from being back in the NCAA tournament, it is dumb to say otherwise.

i'm sorry, i just can't watch the game. i can't get up for watching an underachieving team on the road against a big 12 leftover. call me a bad fan, but to me the season is over until october.

It seems outside of the states between Carolina and New York and the West Coast, our OOC schedule snubs almost every state in the country except occasionally a couple big programs like Michigan and Memphis. Do we ever schedule teams in the mountain states or the states like Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma etc. along with some of the deep south like Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Bama? You realize, of course, that Texas is the 2nd largest state in the nation, 10th in Georgetown applications, and with 1100 public high schools and nearly 200 private, now produces more college basketball and football propsects than any other state? Comparing it to Iowa is myopic. Texas has 1100 public schools b/c it's big. I don't believe it has more schools per capita than other states right? So having a big land mass means it has more schools and more recruits. I would hope that if they are the 2nd biggest state that they are in top 3 for recruits. Playing a game in texas does not get covered by the whole state - it gets covered by the 1 town or city we go to. So in that regard, playing a game in Houston isn't significantly better than one in Tampa, or a Waco much better than Des Moines. I don't have a problem with playing one in Texas from time to time. I used to be a reporter for a daily paper in Dallas at their Washington Bureau so I have a connection to Texas, but I also have no problem with not playing there much. Outside of the mid-Atlantic to the NE, I think the current strategy of picking a couple of big-name OOC opponents works well - like Michigan, Duke, Memphis, etc. I'd be fine if Texas were added but I don't see it as a big priority.

The attendance at last night's ND/UAB game was just over 2,000 people. Yikes. ND fans have definitely folded the tent on this year's team, wonder what attendance we would get if the game was at Verizon.....

Two quote's that worry me about tonight's game: "Colorado also runs that kind of offense, so that will help us prepare for Georgetown.” and "They ran their offense efficiently, nailed clutch shots and baffled teams with their zone defense."
Please hoyas put a good game together and get a win. Come on, it's my birthday.

I'm guzzlin the freakin kool-aid out of a firehose while swimming in a kool-aid pool, and I still don't know if I have faith that we can pull out a victory tonight. Somehow I still believe we're going to make an NIT run.

The long trip to Waco (this is our longest trip of the season, isn't it?) will reacquaint the players to each other in a misery-needs-company sort of way. The result: a relaxed team trying hard for the win and trusting in each other and the system.

How can Johnny Flynn play 147 out of a possible 155 minutes, 3 games in a row, including a total of 7 overtime periods, including getting up at 6 am after just going to bed at 3 am, and JTIII has to rotate out our good players every 5 minutes?
Has anyone done a correlation of starter minutes played to game outcome? I say tonight we start Monroe, Wright, Sapp, Summers, Freeman, and let them play until they drop. What do we possibly have to lose at this point? Seriously?

Like a lemming to the sea I am off to the game. My expectations are so low that if we win I will be really happy.

I couldn't agree with you more. Coach's sub patterns frustrate the heck out of me. What do we possibly have to lose at this point? Seriously? YES! I can see Sapp and Sims being in at various times for experience and to build up a new big man (who at this point has also shown glimpses of being very productive). Other than that, leave the bench alone until we really really need someone.
