My favorite comment from the Baylor Board: "Having surfed the Hoyas message board, I was struck by the lack of hand-wringing and angst demonstrated by the Hoya-faithful after what must be a very unsatisfying end to a promising season. Are we just drama queens or do they have a lack of passion?"
Clearly they didn't read back far enough. I've never seen more hand-wringing around here.
Note: They may be referring to the Rivals or Scout boards--Admin

Oh man, now I'm worried that opposing fan message boards think our support is lackluster based on our lack of worrying. Will this season never end?!?!

Thus the comment that "Their forum is circa 1993...." ;D

Typical that it's really just some literal baptists reacting to what we write. Hoyas lose this, we gave the W to less talented team and did it to ourselves. I can't think anyone is really excited about the NIT, except maybe...Baylor, but we have to pull it together, focus on this away matchup and advance to the next round.

Despite how terrible we are, we have no excuse to not win the NIT

There are more excuses to not win the NIT than to lose to SJU and Cincinnati twice, both schools who didn't qualify or receive a bid to the NIT.

If somehow Duquesne beats VT (let down theory) - could a McDonough game be in the cards? This, of course, is taking the giant leap of faith that we win in Waco. We would be the higher seed.

I don't even want to think about that right now. Reminds of when we were thinking what possibilities could happen before both St. John's games. Then we lost both. My personal opinion is let's just take on Baylor, and worry about the rest when it comes up.

Key question - does espn2 commit to broadcast complete games or are we at risk of getting switched half way through? If anyone know how to find this out (calling espn or the nit) - please do. If it is a risk, does anyone know the games that are at the same time? Northwestern @ Tulsa on ESPNU at the same time

sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3985099&name=katz_andy"If Virginia Tech and Georgetown advance, this would be a game between two regional powers that could recruit against each other." Eh. I still can't believe that anyone who would choose Tech would have Georgetown on their list - two schools that are as different as can be. The rest of the NIT comments are essentially that it's a strong field and we're not alone in our near-greatness.

True. Yet, we once must have been rivals, as we are mentioned in the Hokie fight song.

At least it's not Dykes and an SEC team. I don't think I've ever muted a game for a team I'm a fan of faster than the Bama game in the BE-SEC Challenge, and I still can't listen to him.

Yet, we once must have been rivals, as we are mentioned in the Hokie fight song. Except that most of the schools mentioned in GU's fight song were infrequent football opponents at best- we first listened to Cornell in 2003, Yale's Boolah-Boolah was first heard in 2007, they played the Proud Old Princeton Tigers all of 5 times between 1903 and 1920, and Crimson Lines of Harvard have never had the opportunity to hold the Hoyas. Edit: I should have noted that GU is 4-4 all time against the VPI Hokies, last taking a 3-0 contest in 1941. I wonder if Beamer Ball would have changed that outcome.

I have always understood that portion of our fight song--remember, it is three songs rolled into one--to reference baseball rivalries.

I have always understood that portion of our fight song--remember, it is three songs rolled into one--to reference baseball rivalries. If that is the case, then how does a reference to the Crimson lines holding 'em make sense? And although turn of the century baseball cranks may have been more likely to break out in song than their modern-day equivalents (Sweet Caroline excepted), I believe the baseball fight song is a fairly rare species.
