I dont think it is short-sighted either. that was the worst loss of the III era. Seton Hall was 0-13 from 3 point range! Two of their players fouled out! Two of their players score 40+ of their 65 points. Holy cr@p, man, that was awful.

They were both bad losses, but we may be able to top those over the next several weeks if this continues.

Etomic,
I understand what you're saying, and I don't think JTIII had his greatest moment, but I think he's the best ingame coach I've ever seen. Whatever we played, zone or man, Seton Hall shot 0-13 from three-point land, so the defense, or what defense we played, wasn't the problem.
I just think this is on the players. One of our guys needed to step up and give Greg the ball. When he got it, and went, our offense was unstoppable. But it was our guys that tried to be heroes. Dajuan took that three, and Greg had his man pinned. Jessie took a contested three with 10 seconds left, going left with a hand in his face. Our guys are the ones making bad decisions. In short, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. John was trying out there. I completele disagree with the poster who said he didn't look interested out there. He was making subs. And IMO, Wattad's playing because he cares. He hustles, even though he's not that talented. He makes an effort, unlike our two biggest prima donnas Dajuan and Austin. That's why he's playing, and if that's really the reason, I can't say that I'm mad at him for that.
If Dajuan had half of Omar's hustle, he may be the best player in the country. He's that talented. If austin had that kind of heart that Omar shows, he's be an early entry candidate this season. He's that talented. But Austin's wide, wide, open three from the corner that couldn't make the rin showed me something about him. He shrinks at crunchtime. As does Dajuan. Greg played well down the stretch, save for the two missed free throws. Sapp, although that shot was awful, played well today. He hustled. I won't even kill Chris. I think he cares too. He just makes terrible decisions with the ball.
IMO, this is on the players. Whenever you have a team that's clearly inferior and the players come out without a sense of urgency, that's on the players. JTIII, after Thursday's embarrassment, shouldn't have had to say ONE word in that lockerrom. He should've been able to say "let's go" and we should've dominated the game from the get. I knew when we got down 7-2 we were in trouble. There was no fire.
No fire.
No fire.
That's on the players.

Monroe is getting less and less touches and shot opportunities ever since the Duke game. Doesn't make sense. It's like they are freezing him out.

Omar sat still in the lane while they drove baseline and passed to the man he should have been defending. domot tell me that omar can play defense. He hustles yes but they attacked his side of the zone whenever he was in quite succesfully.

It certainly seems that way.
Dajuan's playing to go pro. He's not playing for the team.

Monroe 6-7 from the field Sapp 3-8 Wright 2-10 Summers 1-8 Freeman 1-9
So who would take the last three shots? Of course: Freeman, Sapp, and Wright.

At this rate why wont Monroe leave? He is playing on a team where he is the only one that seems to care. Why be a part of a team that is on a downward spiral when you could be making millions? Too easy

Daytona, my problem with the D is the fact that no one on the team can keep a statue in front of them. SH continually blew by Hoya defenders in the 2nd half of the game. Coach should have packed it in and made SH shoot them out of it.
I agree about Omar and I like to see him play but not subbing in for Dujaun in a game that begged for the Hoyas to play bigger that should have been Henry IMO. Also you're very right about the lack of fire on the squad and I hope this is just a slump they're in

I think something like this you just have to play through. Kind of like a Batting Slump.

Throughout the game our guys just looked miserable out there. I don't think I've seen Freeman or Wright smile in weeks. Everytime they came off the floor for a timeout they looked tense and frustrated. Missing shots will do that to you.
The great thing about this league is that we have plenty of opportunity to right the ship, starting this week.

Etomic,
this isn't a slump. A lack of fire and a lack of heart is a character flaw, and it can't be coached. You either have it, or you don't. This is the first JTIII team that has no heart. IMO it's his most purely talented team. But the one with the least amount of intestinal fortitude.
Dajuan shouldn't have been in the game down the stretch, not with his game. He personally gave the hall a 7-0 run with a missed free throw, a bump and a bucket and a silly turnover that led to another three-point play. Up 27-24, with us having the ball for the last shot of the first half, he dribbles into the coffin corner and throws the ball directly to Eugene Harvey, who goes down, scores, and gets the Hall within 27-26 when we were somewhat in control at 27-20 just two minutes earlier.
The only way this team can win a game, at this point, is to lead from tip to buzzer. Short of that, this team will lose, because even a one point deficit sends us into panic mode.
And yes, Etomic, I agree that Henry should've played in this game. THAT, I put on JTIII

I get the sense over the past two weeks that this team just doesn't like each other - two of our starters in particular. If that's the case, there's not a whole lot JT3 can do - might have to wright off this season (and no, that wasn't a typo).

Lic,
GREAT POINT.
Hazell can't hit the side of a barn from three-point range, so he switches up, goes to the basket and kills us from the foul line. I'm very impressed with him. He's a pro

a win or two this week would go a long way to raise the spirits on the team.
but i don't know when we get out of this funk. we might not be as good as the team that beat UCONN and Syracuse...but we certainly are not this bad.

I think we all agree that this team is too talented to be playing this level of basketball. I for one find it hard to believe that we are playing without any desire or fire as some would say. It seems that whatever confidence virus that jesse has had for the last month now has spread through the entire team. a 35% 3 point shooting team doesnot just turn into a 10% club overnite. Its up to the coach to get that confidence back. barring that I would recommend Lichoya go in do his thing before it gets much worse.

I am not going through all the posts on this thread. Another game I missed that we should have won (I have to make sure I get back in the chat room to cheer our team on). I don't want to get more depressed reading the posts; it is enough to see the final score and read the boxscore. Must have been TIGHT rims: total 3-35 from 3. What is that all about? How could we have lost this game? Outrebounded them. Shot terrible from three again (everybody is having a slump at the same time), but they were enough more terrible. Shot great from the FT line. So from the line and 3 pt line, we outscored them and still lost. I will go back some time to read the recaps. But for the second game in a row, I lost my lunch (or dinner). Ugh. Just a few games ago, we looked so good, and people were optimistic. Is it Februrary yet?
