Gonna be a long bus ride home for the fans. Our guys don't even look upset. if this were a jt 2 team the players would be scared to go into the locker room after that pitiful, uninspired performance
as much as the coaching staff choked today, you really have to put it on the players. its not like they are robots. they could see that greg had the hot hand down the stretch, and after riding him for three stright possessions, we went away from it. i don't know why? its going t o be really hard to watch the next few games because i am so disgusted with how this team has played recently. maybe i shouldn't have watched this game. i should have been billing hours.
The dude guarding Greg the last two minutes was a "walk on" that looked like the guy I saw at the Wendy's drive through last night, and the guy that fouled out with no points looks like the guy who was in front of me in line. And we jack up threes at the end of the game
This is why I hope JTIII is offered a huge deal w/another program.
I am sorry, and this may get edited, but this is the worst post I have seen in months. How can you possibly want that? First, Gtown is a tough job with the discrepancy in money toward other schools, so who would replace him? Second, how can you possibly forget how bad we were before he got here? Third, he took us to the FINAL FOUR in his third year, did you forget that?
Take that trash elsewhere because if you think the coach that would theoretically replace III is going to be closer to III's level of coaching than Esherick's, then you are severely mistaken.
We are in a tough stretch and maybe III has not done a good job in it, but look at the whole body of work, people, before posting trash like the above.

Imo, It is on the staff. If the head coach tells the players to give greg the ball I have a hard time believing they would not do it. The fact is this finese O has hit a wall, and major adjustments need to be made tonight when the team gets back to DC

We can laud JT3 all we want, and I'm with you. I'm not saying he's not the guy for this team, but it seemed that he was very disinterested TODAY. I felt like the players were doing what they were asked to do, which seemed to be nothing and matching the effort that was asked of them, which seemed to be minimal. TODAY.
JTIII's biggest weakness seems to be an inability to stray from our base offense/defense. SH's entire froncourt has 4 fouls? Whatever, let's not pass it inside for 10 minutes. Other team has weak guards or a short bench? Eh, let's play back on defense. Other teams throw a press and zone at us every game - well, let's just keep trying the same stuff over and over.
Our base stuff is good - but until JTIII learns to adapt and take advantage of matchups he will never be a great coach.

I assumed he was just joking. Otherwise, that is the most asinine post I've ever read. Who could Georgetown expect to hire, if it got rid of coaches with Final Four rings and two league title trophies in four years? I think we should all assume that post was a joke.
No alot of this is on the coach. and it's not the first time. questionable decsions personel wise . when wattad cant even play d in a zone. broken down continually in a zone for cripes sake. you run a roll for monroe and it works and you never once look for it again. we still cant get the ball up against pressure and the one time you attack it you have wattad in the middle missing a shot. Clearly this team has lost any and all confidence in itself. whose responsibilty is that. me thinks it's the coach. He looks lost just as much as his team. maybe its time to show them the tape of the umcp game . and freeman i'm too much at lost for words to even comment. but if 45% of your shots are from 3 and you make 3 of them you lose. every time If that is what this offense gives you then its time to change it .
Without question, the worst loss of the JT III era. We are now at extreme risk of having to play on Tuesday at the Big East Tournament.
This is a short-sighted statement. As are people saying they hope JTIII leaves. No one who loved this program prior to his arrival would say something so stupid.
The worst loss of the JTIII era unquestionably was at St. Johns his first season coaching.
"A vivid example of this approach is currently on exhibition at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where in recent years the basketball program has achieved a seemingly miraculous turnaround. The miracle worker is named John Thompson, and what he has done can be impressively documented."
Daytona, the coach must put the players in the best possible position to win and he didn't do that today. SH played small due to foul problems so what does JT3 do? Play small too!! It makes no sense... JT3 talked a lot about needing the young guys to grow up so Play Henry some then to take advantage of his length. He should have played a zone the entire 2nd half against this squad!! I know I keep harping on this but it drove me nuts today.
The players need to step up too especially Austin and Chris. He hangs his head more than half the time he's in the game, always seems to sulk... Chris is horrible in transition, over penetrates way too much and if I have to see him try and get to the opposite side on the rim on fast break lay-up attempts I'll rip my eyes out!!
Remember when our offense looked good? 3pt shots fell and players spaced and made good cuts?
EXACTLY. This team has another first in the JTIII era--lead guards who have the ability to take it to the rim regularly. And I think that is a BAD thing. When Wallace was on the court, he knew well what he could and couldn't do. To compensate he always looked to run the offense in it entirety; he directed the team to do so. The result was fans clamoring for more penetration by Jessie et al after frustrating losses where we showed no 'urgency'. But those teams won a lot of games.
Now, our lead guards are scrappy drive first types who bail on the offense in favor of moves to the basket. The result is instead of wearing teams down over the course of the game, we take quick shots, usually 3s, or turn the ball over on the drives. That translates to the defensive end where the the players get down on themselves for missing shots and the overall effort falls as well. By the time the game gets to its closing minutes, the team has no confidence.
In short, we need the team's guards (I am looking at you Chris Wright) to look to run the offense more and play as a team. The shots will come within the offense.

It's time to change the lineup. It's really time to do that.
Greg needs a big in there next to him. I'd love to see Henry start at the four, but if not, start Vaughn at the five and slide Greg to the four. Slide Dajuan to the three, although he was a MAJOR part of the problem tonight. Start Jessie at the two, Chris at the one and sit Austin down.
We need to be structurally sound. This four guard offense isn't getting it. It's not working, and honestly, although Julian's not very good, at least he hustles, which is all I want to see right now out of this team.
It says something that the only time we got on the floor to dive after a loose ball today was in the final minute of the game. They got runouts all game, we had silly, ghastly turnovers, and Dajuan was a horror show. At this point, it's clear that he's trying to get to the league after this year. He was the one who took that awful three with us down 62-60, when Greg had his man pinned in the post. He's been unbelievably selfish this season. At this point, I want him to go. He'd be addition by subtraction
Its JTIII"s fault that we go 3 of 22 from behind the line, or that Freeman and Wright are regressing by the minute and have no interest in playing with fire?
I agree there are some control issues--Sapp's last shot was an absolute joke.
But to blame JTIII for Freeman's utterly embarrassing performance? Sorry.
Monroe tried to put the team on his back, was diving on the floor for everything in sight, and he got no help from anybody. Just once I'd like to see some fire in Freeman's eyes.
We'll either shoot our way out of this, or go down in flames.

Which part of the statement is short-sighted? I was at the St John's game and this one feels worse. As to playing on Tuesday, One of the 9 (alleged) NCAA tournament teams has to play on Tuesday, and 9-9 probably gets you there. I thought it was going to be ND, but right now it looks like us.
