Hulu has all of seasons 1-5! Awesome if you want to catch up and don't own the DVDs. I do, but this way I can watch away from home with out carrying a bunch of DVDs around.

So, is Jacob inside "Sayid" now the way Esau (?) is inside "Locke," or is that just way too easy??
I don't like confused, victimized Ben Linus nearly as much as cold, manipulative Ben Linus.

But Jacob's Nemesis was never inside Locke, he's just capable of shifting shapes in some manner. I do think something fishy is up with Sayid. It could be Jacob.

Good point, free.
Maybe Miles said "Nothing," to Hurley because he wasn't hearing anything from Sayid, because Sayid wasn't really dead.
The alternate reality -- if that's what it really is -- isn't really doin' it for me, but everything going on on the island in this first episode was outstanding.

My theory - Desmond-on-the-Plane is the Monster/Esau.

My theory - Desmond-on-the-Plane is the Monster/Esau. But Desmond wasn't on the plane for the "first" flight. However, Jacob apparently was off the island previous to the first flight, when he visited Locke, Sawyer, etc. You may be right though.

And Desmond never got off the plane after they landed at LAX. Plane Desmond appears as they are close to the island, no one else sees him other than Jack, Jack has seen dead people before (Christian), and as you said, Desmond wasn't on the plane on the first flight. My guess is that Desmond dies on the island (maybe he never ends up entering the code and the island sinks? maybe anthropogenic global warming makes seawater rise engulf the island and drowns him?). The monster only seems to appear as dead people on the island.

It seems they are doing parallel universes; not sure where that is going. Also, the time reshifted for the losties, who were at the site of the nuclear blast, as it appears they are at the present time. Also, Jacob saying to Hurley that he died an hour ago.

If everyone is ok with it, im going to make a Season 6 thread, just so you know. (also, so when anthropologists in the future come to this site they wont be confused by our lack of proper titles on threads) so if you object say something, or if you dont make one or whatever. here is a funny picture from Best Week Ever: www.bestweekever.tv/bwe/images/2010/02/Jacobs-Letter.jpgif you want to see another one youll have to start a new thread zing

Ok my thoughts/questions after last night's premier:
The truth of the matter is we still don't really know what happened when the bomb went off.
So the new story telling device are these "flash-sideways". It appears as many speculated that activating the bomb created an alternate timeline.
The question is how are the two stories we're seeing related. In my mind there are two options that both have flaws as of now with the information we have.
1) The alternate time line is a separate reality not connected to the stuff we're seeing on the island. Support: That's what it seemed like. The on island losties don't seem to think anything's changed except for the fact that they're back to the present times.
Negatives: How do the two realities reconcile with each other. Are they some how going to merge at some point? will there be interaction between the two realities. If not what's the point?
2) The alternate time we're seeing of the original flight is the new past of what we're seeing on island.
Support: Juliet tells miles that it worked. Otherwise what's the point of the off island alternate reality stuff
Negatives: Why don't they realize it worked? How did they end up on the island anyway then? especially if the island was under water in the alternate time line.
So what the heck was up with the island being underwater? Did the nuke explosion sink the island? Did global warming just happen a lot faster in this alternate reality? We see the Dharma shark from season 1 so it had to sink after Dharma got to the island.
What did Juliet mean when she said it worked. Did the plan work. If so How would she know?
Desmond on the flight. Why was he there in the alternate reality? Was he really there in the alternate reality? Jack's the only one who we knwo saw him or interacted with him.
So fake locke (flocke) is revealed to be the smoke monster who we also assume is the man in black talking to jacob at the end of season 5. We still don't know exactly who he is since we don't have a name yet.
Where is his home that he wants to get to? The temple? Off island?
Richard was in chains? Was he a slave from the black rock ship? Will we finally find out why he doesn't age beyond the fact that Jacob made him that way? Apparently we will from kristen of E ": "You're going to get all your answers: Why doesn't he age? Where's he from? What his powers might be? Who he is? And there is one specific episode that deals with all of that." Well that's good at least.
Speaking of Jacob, so he's dead? Sort of? Maybe? Hurley can still talk to him and he says he's dead, but he can still tell hurley things and think. What does dead mean? as locke said in the alternate reality they lost jack's father's body but not jack's father. jacob is now free of his body, but in some ways he still exists. Is jacob now is sayid?
When did Sayid become so important? Bad things will happen if he dies? luckily i guess he didn't. But he wa saved the same way ben was last season. How will this change sayid? Richard said it would take away ben's innocence and he's never bet he same and would always be one of them.
Will we see anyone we haven't yet in the alternate reality? Will walt be back? Michael? Libby?
Will we find out what happened to clair on island? So The man in black has clearly been messing with the losties for a while in the form of christian Sheppard. So why was claire with him in the cabin?
Last season we learned that someone else had been using what was jacobs cabin from illana. So that was the man in black. There was a circle of ash around the cabin. Based on their reaction to seeing the circle broken presumably jacob had the ash around the cabin to keep his enemy out. Rather than to keep his enemy in there. Someone broke the line of ash allowing the man in black to start using the cabin.
Will they ever reveal some of the info that was revealed online in the between season interactive online adventure stuff on the actual show or will the majority of viewers who just watch the show just be left in the dark about that stuff, mostly about the dharma institute?
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Lost is ridiculous and it's jsut going to get crazier as the season goes on. I can't wait.
