Were you really convinced Bernard and Rose were critical characters? I never was. It's a great tv series...but it IS a tv series. There have been different episodes that have focused on a huge number of characters- but does that mean those characters have to remain in the central focus? I like the way the show bounces from focus to focus- that is the anti-Friends method, respecting the audience a little for having some attention span. I don't demand in return that we have some resounding conclusion to every single character. That's a lot to ask. But I'm SURE we'll see Bernard and Rose again, and CLEARLY we'll see Claire again...but I'm not sure why it bothers you that we are not focussing on them now. You do seem to grasp that the show moves around from one group to the next....as you say you are not entertained by the Jack/Kate/Sawyer grouping...well for me Rose, Bernard and Claire were those characters for me! I found the old couple a bit boring and can't stand Aussie accents. (I do agree with you that Jack and especially Kate are getting a bit tired this season. Oh, Kate's pi $$ ed off at the world off again? That's nice.)
I guess I'm just not getting what it is you are griping about. It isn't possible for them to focus on 15 charaters at once right?

I don't think this is a spoiler, since the season finale is next week, but the word is that we will, in fact, get to meet Jacob before the end of this season.
(You might think, "Well, DUH! They're marching off to see him, genius", but with this show, that's no guarantee that he'll actually appear.)
When they do get to Jacob, if we don't see Claire next week as well, I will be really disappointed. Just pay her already.
I'm not concerned with Bernard & Rose, because I think we already know what happened to them. My guess is that next season, we'll get a filler "Bernard & Rose" episode where we're told how they became Adam & Eve.
As for the other minor characters, I think some of them fulfilled their arc and are not really needed anymore (to wit: Mr. Eko.) It doesn't mean the writers don't know what they're doing.
Some other minor characters have left a lot of mystery, particularly Charlotte and Libby, at least for me. I'd like to learn a lot more about them before the end of the series, but I won't be terribly upset if there isn't room to get into every character with some loose ends.
If we never see Ana Lucia again, in flashback or ghost form, that will be just fine with me.
I think the "shadow" folks will remain mostly a mystery this season and we'll get into them in the final season. They'll have some big reveal for Lapidus next week, and it will tell us something about them, but that'll be it until the show resumes.
I need to watch last night over again. Obviously, I was watching hockey, so I missed a lot of the little details. And I was too ticked to watch it again last night after all the hockey was said and done.

I believe we'll get to see the return of rose and bernard next week.
I absolutely Loved last night's episode. Just one Oh moment after another.
At this point anything could happen on lost and we're all just along for the ride.
THe producers keep saying that they're done with libby's story ( which is bull because they're totally not[ only character that doesn't have a last name; why was she in the mental institute with hurley]) But it seems that they've been getting enough complaints that they'll at least have to throw us a deleted scene on a DVD or something.
The Finale is going to be Epic.

I agree with bin and boz. I was actually really entertained last night even though there wasn't anything especially significant revealed. I am most interested in the Ajira people and our 815-related folks (Sun, Ben, Lapidus) making their way back to their other 815 brethren, as well as Locke doing his thing...he is really such an amazing character and the synergy between Locke and Ben is priceless.
I really want the roles of Claire and Christian to be clarified and I think that will likely happen (at least start to happen) in the final two episodes. Otherwise, I like what is going on and, as I said, was very, very entertained last night for the most part. I can't help but feel like Jack and Kate mailed this season in but that is part and parcel of the focus being shifted to the Dharma story, etc.
Also, you know that Sawyer is going to kick that little punk's butt for smacking Juliet - I don't think he is going to let him get away with that.

The thing that irks me about Rose and Bernard is that if they arent important, that is fine, but why have them jump in time and keep them involved for so long. To me that shows that they are some how important (not in an important to the island kind of way, in a dramatically important way). Tell me something about them! Tell me they are dead, tell me they are just chilling some where! Something! How have they survived this long just moping around?
Anyway, this episode was OK. The graphics on the Sub were pretty bad and the dialogue was kind of lame at times.
Im with Boz, though, that the "shadow" people will remain a relative mystery (other than finding out "whats in the box" that lepidus says in the preview). Im thinking that most of the mysteries of the island will be resolved next week (at least all the major ones except for the statue and where all the Others are originally from). Next season will probably deal with who the Dharma is and who is funding them and why they went to the island- Im talking some hardcore forensic accounting!!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Eko and Ana Lucia have been opened and closed. I don't think they have much left to tell. I'm a little disappointed we didn't see Libby at all this season. They definitely have not closed that one yet. The producers keep pushing back her centric episode. Contractual maybe. She has to be back for season 6. If they never explore that, I'll be Editeded.
Last night was disappointing in that I was so excited when I saw it was Richard-centric, only to have pretty much absolutely nothing answered. Not a lot happened either, but I understand they had to set up for the finale. So I guess I'm okay with the lack of action part.
And I think most people, myself included, think that Bernard and Rose are major characters because they keep coming back. A quick look over the Lostpedia season summaries reveal that they've appeared in a few episodes every single season. There has to be something waiting for them considering that they keep appearing and their only backstory is that the island healed Rose's cancer and we already know from Locke that the island heals.
Finally, Buffalo, I had completely forgotten about Vincent. I understand that actors are people and you can't get them all on the island all the time, but it's a freaking dog. Get a new one or something. He was a pretty important part of the early seasons.

Maybe i just am not remembering correctly but i am still kind of confuse about the timeline

But knowing this show, isn't it very possible that they WILL show you where Bernard and Rose have been this whole time, just in typical non-linear fashion? I agree the CGI on the sub's departure was distractingly bad, kind of like Jin's ship exploding last season. If that's how it's going to look- just cut that scene, unlike the tanker exploding seeing the sub move in the water like a cartoon wasn't remotely needed.

I really can't tell if some of you people are joking or not when you say you think Vincent was a major character and you miss him. And so what if Bernard and Rose recurred a few times? Not everything has to have a definitive closure, that's for idiot tv. But more importantly...why do we HAVE to see them now? For all we know the first 10 episodes of next season are nothing but Bernard and Rose. Just sit back and enjoy the ride....some of you are sweating this a bit hard and want to see the show that you are writing in your head rather than the real show. I mean we all have favorite characters...mine is Desmond. But I don't feel cheated that he's been minimized for the last few weeks...I assume he'll be back in focus at some point in the future.

If you want answers, look at IMDB's cast for next week's episodes. I assume they change these weekly b/c Incident Part I has some characters in it that Incident Part II omits.
SPOILER (kind of, not really): I don't think I see Claire, but maybe I overlooked her on the roster.

The show that I am writing in my head does involve an island, true, but it is an island with many, many more bikinis. And flavored rum drinks at the swim-up bar.
And it's on Cinemax, not ABC, if you follow me.
;D
EDIT: On a serious note, so who's going to die next week?
At least one major character, maybe more, but definitely at least one.
My preference would be for Jack and Kate to be sacrificed in a volcano somewhere (I've been playing Pocket God too much), but my serious guess is that it's Juliet.

What on earth is Pocked God? The explanation in the App store just doesn't help me at all. What do you do?
I can't recommend Tiger Woods on the iphone enough.

Basically, you have an island with natives on it and you F*** with them, non-stop. Throwing them into volcanos, swarming them with fire ants, striking them with lightning, generating hurricanes, reversing gravity, feeding them to sharks, etc. Oh, you can be nice to them too, make them dance, feed them, etc. But I don't know anyone who does that. Sorry, back to the Lost discussion......

Kate redeemed her self to me this episode. She kept giving looks like "eff this, i am so sick of dealing with all you idiots, why cant i just hang out with Ben's dad and think about my stolen baby more?!" She has become so blase about things recently that it is hard to get mad at her. And no one has talked about how Hurley had an awesome episode even if it was just about 3 minutes. "Well we asked you first" that was great

OK, so this has nothing to do with Lost, except that I saw the link for it while reading the WP girls' Lost review online today:
Has everybody else seen this video already? I'll admit to being a little late to learn about what's hot on YouTube, but I had never seen this before.
This is one of the coolest film shorts I have ever seen. Granted, it is clearly derivative of any number of FPS video games (and it also steals music from the Lost soundtrack), but still.
Hollywood directors could learn quite a bit from the guy who made this....for about 150 Euro, I am told.
Awesome.
I just posted it here because I thought it would appeal to most Lost fans...but maybe you guys have already seen it.
