They better step it up a notch, or they could take it to another a whole 'nother level. Fixed. ;D

Dozier destroyed us by repeatedly hitting the FT jumper while we were in the zone. I think he was pretty quiet in the 1st half, but had a really big 2nd half.

i could see tyreke evans shooting memphis out of this game. he has a blindingly fast first step but having watched a few of their games if he cant get cleanly to the rim early (which i dont think he will against us) he starts settling for jumpers and his shooting is not his forte as of yet.

This makes me sad for the days when I was just a lower level of fan... er... when Kurt was posting... jk What, you think just because you have almost 10,000 posts you're a real fan? You still are a lower level of fan as far as Im concerned! haha, jk. As for the whole 'nother level comment, Im not gonna defend it, but if I remember correctly that phrase came out of an argument with Joe Hoya, and all rational thought goes out the window in situations like that!

I really feel good about this game because it's Memphis' first true road game. If our fans provide a fairly hostile environment, I think we can really affect guys like Evans. Also, the last few teams coming to the Booth have really had trouble adjusting and have started slow.
In short, I think our homecourt advantage is going to really help us tomorrow.

I'm not sure how this could ever be justified...
"With George Washington (3-2) tipping at the same time as Georgetown, Colonials senior Wynton Witherspoon won’t get a chance to see his younger brother, Wesley, who is a freshman with the Tigers. Apparently, their mother, Carolyn, plans to cab from Verizon Center to Smith Center at halftime." (DC Examiner)
Leaving a Gtown game at halftime is bad enough, but to leave so that you can watch a DC area program valiantly attempt to beat an Ivy squad? Pshaw.
Let's hope we're up 57-15 so Mrs. Witherspoon doesn't feel too awful about her choice.

As a proud member of the student section - let me agree wholeheartedly. I am a senior now. My freshman year, I went to every home game, even when nobody else cared. I got to the home opener 15 minutes before tip off and got a front row seat (we beat Fairfield, IIRC). Anyway, even that year, unheralded as we were early on, the Duke game was packed and loud. And we brought the house down. My point is, even when the team is not hyped, the students show up big for big games. This is a big game. We will defend our home win streak. Fear not...it's going to be a hostile environment.

I really hope everyone's view of the student section is going to hold up tomorrow...I'm not on campus anymore but don't like the thought of it being exam time for this game. I really hope everyone is out there in full force tomorrow. Hopefully Hoya Blue has done a good job promoting this one because I really do think having a home court advantage is really important for this game and of course all others.

It seems like everyone has been working ahead so they can make it to this game. Anyone who doesn't physically have an exam during the game will be there it seems. I expect a good turnout.

I am unfortunately a bit skeptical about student turn out for this game; I've seen too many tickets up for sale. Still, I would love to be proved wrong.

Try my freshman year 2 seasons before that when the student section was only on one side of the court and equal in size or sometimes outnumbered by the band!

'007 knows what its like to be the lone fan in a sea of apathy. That's why he's on a whole 'nother level! ;D (To be fair, 007 is right. If you think 05-06 was a year when folks were apathetic, you really don't know what an apathetic fan base is. There were 2000 student season tickets sold that year).

I didn't know that the Memphis back court was as big as it is until today. How much of an issue is it going to be for the Hoyas going against 6'6, 6'6, 6'8 in the back court? Wright's 6'1, Clark's 6'2, Jessie's 6'3, Austin's 6'4 and Omar's 6'5. We don't have a single player that plays the 1, 2 or 3 (aside from Summers) that can match the height or length of the Memphis back court

We need lots of students to cause similar distractions - from the Tennessee v. Memphis game last year which Memphis LOST :
"It was loud, it was a crazy environment," junior Doneal Mack said. "I can think back to shooting before the game, and there was nothing but orange around, and they were doing all this moving, so it can get to you at times."
