I have 3 seats in 526 - but I was looking to move up with my friends to the $35 seats behind the plate (one section up) I'm guessing that those are not generally available.

I think you can get ANY seat you want from RFK stadium or Hecht's. If you want to risk it, you may find a season-ticket holder(not a scalpor) with good seats selling their tickets outside of the stadium. An easy way to differentiate between a season ticket holder and a scalpor is, scalpors are the guys who will be screaming, "does anyone have extra tickets/does anyone need tickets." Also, if you pay close attention, the scalpors are the same guys you see outside the stadium for EVERY game. These are also the same guys you see at events at the MCI Center.

I have dealt with the scalpers before (Jordan's last game in DC) and really would prefer to not do it again - I guess I'll just make a trip out on the Orange Line and see what's up.

Did anyone see the balk last night? How do you lose a game on a balk?!

The Nationals have just lost 3 out of 4 to the Brewers, but there should be no concern because the Braves lost 3 of 4 against the Mets, also the Rockies come to RFK Stadium starting tomorrow for 4 games and the Rockies SUCK! I believe they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in May. I'm glad I was actually able to watch the last 3 games against the Brewers. I expect Preston Wilson and Vinny Castilla to POUND on the Rockies pitchers.
StPetersburgHoya, I suggest you get to RFK stadium VERY early(maybe 45 minutes to an hour) if you can and buy your tickets from the box office trailors that they have set up. They should have ALL seats available. I've noticed that more people are coming out to games than before, the lines are getting longer. A lot of those people arrive late though, that's why I'm suggesting getting to RFK Stadium early. While in the line, you will ONLY see season ticket holders looking to sell tickets because they bought them way in advance and couldn't use them all. The scalpors won't go down to that area to do business because they will fear getting arrested. I've seen 2 or 3 season tickets holder looking to sell $35.00 and $40.00 seat(s) EVERY time I've waited in line for a ticket. I used to deal with the scalpors at RFK stadium, until I realized that all I needed was a $10.00 seat in row 526 or 527. I can guarantee you that the same person you dealt with in 2003 for Jordan's last home game, will also be outside of RFK stadium scalping tickets.

I honestly don't recall a "walk-off balk" going against the O's this year. But then again, I may just be blocking it out of my memory.

Thomas,
How's that 2-8 in the last ten, with ATL .5 back feeling right now? Meanwhile, we're trying to stay above water in the AL East with three teams with 50 wins. MY GOD, WE NEED BURNETT!

But then again, I may just be blocking it out of my memory. They weren't "walk off" balks, but Kline balked home the winning run in one game and Cabrera did the same maybe a month later. Does it seem like there have been a huge amount of balks this year in comparison to last year? Or maybe they've just happened in more important situations (like balking in the winning run or the tying run, which the Twins have done, I think)

I agree, balks are up this year. But the problem for the O's in the last couple games is B.J. Ryan . . . what an ass.

That was just weird - he know needs unnecessary surgery and doesn't FEEL like pitching again this season - lovely. I only hope that he can get traded for someone better if he's going to do that.

No need to worry about Livan Hernandez. Jim Bowden, Frank Robinson, and even L.Hernandez have all said there is no problem and the he is going to pitch this Tuesday in Atlanta. Sportstalk 980 had a baseball insider on 1 of their FEW LOCAL PROGRAMS and he mentioned L.Hernandez has always had trouble controlling his emotions(he mentioned how he would throw tantrums when taken out of games while playing for the Giants). I was surprised about that, because he looks emotionless when he is pitching. I thought Jose Guillen was the Nationals only hothead. He has already had 2 slight meltdowns(he hinted Nick Johnson and Ryan Church weren' t injured that bad and he complained about RFK stadium being too big for him to hit homeruns).
JohnJaquesLayup, I do not think you want to take shots at the Nationals considering the Orioles now sit in 3rd place! Another thing, the only time we need Orioles discussion in the NATIONALS THREAD is when a Nationals fan decides to BASH them.

What the F@#K is Frank Robinson doing with the lineup..........FREAKING CARLOS BAERGA BATTING CLEANUP! I'm going to the game tonight and I hope F.Robinson has come to his senses. The lineup should be Brad Wilkerson-1st, Jose Vidro-2nd, Jose Guillen-3rd, Preston Wilson-4th, and Ryan Church-5th(maybe he could switch R.Church and J.Vidro because R.Church was batting second when the Nationals were streaking). It doesn't matter how he sets up the rest of the order. It was funny when Ron Darling mentioned that Tim Hudson pitching against the Diamondbacks last night looked like a mismatch for the Braves because the Braves lost and T.Hudson got batted around.

UNBELIEVABLE, the Nationals actually won a game today. Hopefully, they can come home and turn things around against the Dodgers and Padres this week. Nationals fans despite the struggles, we should all be happy with the fact that THE ORIOLES ARE IN A LOT WORSE SHAPE. The Bluejays are now 1 and a half games ahead of the Orioles. The Nationals being better than the Orioles is the perfect way to stick it to that PIECE OF GARBAGE PETER ANGELOS, Comcast SportsNet, the Washington Post, and Sportstalk 980. I actually heard a commercial on Sportstalk 980 last Thursday afternoon claiming they are the Nationals station, yet the Nationals were on at that exact time and they are not broadcasting the game.
The Nationals are still in the mix for the wild card and can get back in the division race if they can put together a winning streak. Despite what the media is saying, I do not believe the Nationals have no hope. The reason is, their starting pitching has remained strong during these losses.

I know there is another thread about Rafael Palmeiro's steroid suspension, but I MUST reference it under this thread. Early in the baseball season, I gave a list of 3 things that needed to happen for the Nationals to really STICK IT to the Orioles. One of them was Sammy Sosa getting a steroid suspension. That hasn't happened, but R.Palmeiro getting a steroid suspension is WAY better. This is because he was just celebrated for joining the 3,000 hit club, now he has shamed himself and more importantly the Orioles organization. The fact that this happened while the Orioles are in a COMPLETE TAILSPIN(1-12 in their last 13 games) makes this perfect. This scenario is exactly what that PIECE OF GARBAGE Peter Angelos deserves.
Those of you who used to root for the Orioles shouldn't feel sorry for them. The reason is, the Orioles organization is the reason a LOT of Nationals fans can't watch them play tonight. That's right, just think about how most fans will only get to watch them on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I guess were lucky this week, their Thursday night game will be televised on UPN20. Even games on ESPN and TBS are blacked out in D.C. Fans shouldn't have to switch to a particular cable system(RCN) or get Direct TV in order to watch the HOME TEAM!
The only thing that can make this better is if the Nationals start playing winning ball on this homestand. It would be great if the Nationals could turn things around at the same time that the Orioles organization sinks to one of their lowest points.

Nice grand slam last night. I hope we didn't burn up all of our run production on the dodgers as we need to get two out of three on the padres and then beat up on the Astros as we are one down to them in the wildcard.

Yeah, I'd prefer that we just bank those runs and use them for all those 1-run losses we've been having lately. Still in it, though, even after the terrible July. We'll see how they respond. The NL West is terrible, but they definitely need to win the Padres series to stay in it.

Hmmm... my premature dismissing of the Western U.S. teams catches up to me quickly -- the Ducks jump into the race with a vengeance! I'd sort of forgotten the Sharks as well, as they haven't been in the news. But they're a solid team as they stand. We might have to play the games before giving my Flames the Cup, after all...
