And to even the score, I'm going to refer to the Nats owner as a "Piece of Garbage" . . . AS SOON AS YOU HAVE ONE! ;D

Good thing the game is meaningless - some of us are busy not watching the game on principle because of the tie.

Actually it is meaningless unless the World Series goes 7 games, and game 7's in the World Series are rare. So you are right - I misspoke - the All-Star Game is not "meaningless" but rather "rarely meaningful".

And to even the score, I'm going to refer to the Nats owner as a "Piece of Garbage" . . . AS SOON AS YOU HAVE ONE! ;D Since MLB technically owns the Nats, and Bud Selig is in charge of MLB, you can say that Bud Selig is the owner of the Nats (or at least, that he runs the team). Let me be the first to say that Bud Selig is a PIECE OF GARBAGE.

Here here T-Bird - that man is a crook if you don't mind me saying so - he did everything he could to basically squeeze money out of the Brewers and was a pretty bad owner - now he's moved that same management style to baseball.

Having the first two games at home is a huge advantage...huge...do you think we could have beaten St. Louis with soooooo many defensive snafus if we hadn't been at home the first two games?

So apparently the Nats are leading for Preston Wilson right now. That would give them a pretty nice outfield of Guillen, Wilson and Wilkerson/Byrd platooning in left (although I would presume Brad would get the majority of run out there). I wish they'd just get their act together over at short and get a 1B they can depend on (Johnson is hurt WAY too often), then they'd be poised for a nasty run. Maybe Wilkerson at first, keep Byrd in left for now? Can Brad play first?

Wilky can play first. And you're forgetting about the Nats rookie of the year candidate--Ryan Church. He should be back in left in the next couple of days.
I think if they get Wilson, the outfield will go Church/Byrd in left, Wilson in CF, Guillen in RF, and Wilky at 1B until Johnson gets back. After that, I'm not sure what they'd do--they'd have some good players on the bench though.

There's no reason to acquire Preston Wilson except as injury insurance. Heck, I'm not even sure he's worth that - Marlon Byrd may be a better player right now. Ryan Church probably is, and Wilkerson and Johnson definitely are.

JohnJaquesLayup, the future owner of the Nationals isn't attempting to damage the Baltimore Orioles. There is a VERY good reason to refer to Peter Angelos as a PIECE OF GARBAGE. You guys did a good job when you referred to Bud Selig as a PIECE OF GARBAGE, we may also want to do the same for Comcast SportsNet.
That PIECE OF GARBAGE Bud Selig was interviewed on ComcastSportsNet, of course the guy interviewing him didn't ask him why he gave such a FOOLISH deal to Peter Angelos. We need someone from the local televison station(channel 4, 5, 7, or 9) or the Washington Times to interview Bud Selig. In my opinion, these are the ONLY two Washington D.C. media outlets who do not have some kind of relationship with the Orioles and will press Bud Selig about SCREWING THE NATIONALS FANS! We all know Sportstalk980, the Washington Post, and ComcastSportsNet won't do it.
As for home field advantage in the world series.........HOW ABOUT THE TEAM WITH THE BETTER RECORD GETS THE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE! Wow, what a concept. I do not think the Nationals really need to acquire Preston Wilson. The starting outfield of Ryan Church, Brad Wilkerson, and Jose Guillen is very good. In my opinion, all of these guys have earned the right to play every day and do not need to be platooned. Having Wil Cordero and Carlos Baerga play first base, while Nick Johnson has been injured hasn't been too bad for the Nationals. The return of Jose Vidro also eases the loss of R.Church and N.Johnson.

I actually used to tape the Esherick show on Comcast SportsNet(I believe it came on Thursday or Friday afternoons) and watch it later. I liked how they would interview a Georgetown player on the show. In terms of entities SCREWING THE NATIONALS FANS, I'd have to rank Comcast 5th on the list behind 1. THAT PIECE OF GARBAGE(I use garbage because this website won't allow me to use the 4-letter word that sounds like SPIT) PETER ANGELOS. 2. Major League Baseball 3. Sportstalk980 4. The Washington Post.
PRESTON WILSON HOMERS IN HIS FIRST AT BAT AS A NATIONAL!

Bought tickets to see the Nationals against the Dodgers on August 3rd - should be very interesting to watch - although it was hard to get descent tickets online even though I was purchasing them 3 weeks before the game ... has anyone else experienced this?

All the good seats went early in seasons tix and related packages. Trust me, I tried back in May for August games.

Maybe since you guys are not in this area, it is harder for you to get good seats. I believe a person can go to RFK stadium during the daytime and get ANY seat they want for future games.
Be careful about scalping your tickets or trying to buy tickets from a scalpor, I've seen the police arresting scalpors at recent games. Also, if any of you guys decide to buy tickets on game day and the good seats are sold out, get the $10.00 seats in Section 526 or 527. Those are the BEST cheap seats because you can see the ENTIRE outfield and the scoreboard will be right in front of you.
