I really hope that Otto doesn' get badly outplayed by a complete scrub in his final college game.

We are getting completely destroyed. I can't believe this is happening again.

How is Pitt an 8 if Marquette is a 3?

Is this happening from 10-11, or 10-12? It's on ESPNU from 10-11 and ESPN from 11-12, but I can't tell if the latter is going to be a repeat.
Two hour show, moves over to ESPN for the last hour.--Admin

Unless we are also paying exit fees.
I still don't quite see how the C7 would make a net of 10-15 million while the remaining pool for the football schools grows to 100 million.

I think the bump from $60M to $100M is accounted for by the addition of the B7 exit fees which we know would be about $40M. Just seems logical. If I'm right about that, the real pot as far as we are conerned is the $60M figure afterall. Would that mean that we are paying more than we are getting from the pot?

I'm sure there is some sort of policy for the entire Mens Basketball team. I doubt on the court injuries are dealt with through student insurance. Otto isn't coming back, enjoy what we have. It's not medical insurance. The NBA-bound player executes a contract with a financial firm for a relatively small amount upfront (depending on his injury-proneness and other actuarial variables) and if he's injured during the year in which he returns to school, he'll collect an amount specified in the insurance policy to offset the lost earnings that result from no longer being a first round or lottery pick. I think we talk about this scenario every March/April. My understanding was that these only apply to career-ending injuries rather than something temporary that costs you draft position.

From seeing Bolden in Kenner league, I suspect he would be equally as useless on offense and on the boards, but much worse on defense.
No idea really on Hayes, but in the few minutes he got this season he looked pretty confused and to have some major issues moving laterally.

If adams took a medical retirement now, smith could take the scholly until end of spring, right. If he shows the commitment. It will be a nice problem to have. If he doesn't, no crunch. Sorry - I meant next year, when we add Cameron as well.

Since we don't have two open scholarships even if Adams is on medical leave again, I guess we can assume that a player has already informed the staff he is either transferring or declaring for the draft.
If this news is accurate, of course.

Hoyaboy you are obsessed with this illusion that there is anything we can do to prevent a lot of people from seeing us as mid majorish. I think you need to start getting used to the fact a lot of people will attach the label to anyone who doesnt have a 50k person football stadium. It is a label that just doesnt mean much anymore. i think this "mid major" issue is becoming a bit of a white whale. We need to put together the best league possible so we are playing in the best league possible. Not because it will stop everyone or most people from reverting to the lazy and meaningless term. Remember most sports fans are morons. Butler has multiple final four wins recently as a mid major. I think a bigger concern is that high major providence lost to ivy walk over brown last night. I completely agree that a lot of people are going to consider the conference mid-major no matter what, but I disagree with the idea that it doesn't really matter, and I think that the teams we decide to add will impact how many people view us as mid-major. I also agree that many sports fans (as well as many media members and high school basketball players) are "morons" - but whether we like it or not, those are the people we need to support the conference. Perception matters. Maybe I'm delusional for thinking we might be able to recruit at close to the same level we are now if the conference plays its cards right. It's going to be a lot harder to compete for top recruits if they all associate us with mid-majors.

As a few people have said, one of the most important things this conference needs to do is establish itself as a high major right off the bat. If people start thinking of us as a mid-major, it's going to be hard to change their minds.
For my money, only three non-FBS teams help with that - Xavier, Butler, and Gonzaga. Any other team arguably hurts the conferences' rep in the short-term. If instead we go to 12 adding teams like Dayton, St. Louis, and even VCU or Creighton it could be a big mistake. Yes, those programs may have potential to become bigger deals in a higher-level conference - but by the time that happens, the new Big East may have already fallen into the mid-major pool in the eyes of the media, fans, and mot importantly, recruits.
I suppose I'm in the minority who would be happy coming to some sort of deal with Memphis, Temple, and possiby even UConn, although obviously there as risks there. I really want this conference to start off with the strongest grouping possible.

I'll gladly admit I had no idea about the home attendance. Still not sure they help the brand, TV exposure/money, or recruiting, which are my bigger concerns. But I suppose there are no better options that recruits are actually going to be excited to play against.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the Creighton addition? I really wanna avoid the idea that this is a scrappy mid-major conference.

Only way I'd go to 12 is if we needed St. Mary's to get Gonzaga. Otherwise I see very little value in adding teams like Creighton, Dayton, SLU, etc.

I am a little worried that the new conference is going to be left without enough elite teams or high-profile programs with large fan bases. It's great to have a lot of good teams, but if the conference is made up of small private schools that never crack the top 10 and can't fill MSG for a conference tournament, we may very well be considered a mid-major even if the overall league RPI is respectable.
And that won't help recruiting or attendance.

Anyone else know anything about tickets shipping? Emailed the ticket office and haven't heard back.
