I doubt Ewing was much better than 30% from 3 in Kenner. There was a two game stretch where he was about 1-14. He was still better than expected, I suppose, and that may have warped some memories.
He is not a "good shooter," especially if you consider him a SF. He is acceptable at best - and that might be generous since he has been in college for two years and has shown no ability to hit 3s. Sure, he was misused at Indiana, but "good" shooters show something over two years.
People are getting way ahead of themselves if they expect Ewing to even average 1 three a game and shoot over 30%. His real impact will be on D, rebounding, and finishing around the basket.

I think it is almost certain that we are a less efficient offensive team next year.
However, I still think we will be a better team overall, thanks to better defense and rebounding. But to be a top 10 caliber team, we will need 3 point shooting. Hopefully someone steps into that role (more than one "someone," preferably).

I agree with the obvious stuff already stated - we need three point threats to open up space inside.
We only have one guy we know will get playing time and be able to hit better than 33% for sure from deep - Wallace. We don't really have anyone who can make "tough threes" - shots that are deep, contested, or off screens.
Green will hit some threes too, but I can't really say I have confidence in anyone else (maybe Summers). Hopefully Sapp or Ewing improve a lot in that area. Otherwise JTIII might have to bite the bullet and give Thornton minutes, because we can't have Wallace and Green as the only guys taking more than 1 three a game.

Great half by Roy, decent by Wallace, but nobody else showed up.
Crawford and Sapp taking 3 threes in a half is a bad sign too.

Sapp

5/24 from 3 in Big East play, 7/39 overall.
Those are flat out terrible numbers. I'm sure he'll improve, but he needs to double his percentage or more unless he can find other ways to score, since he doesn't really set other people up - his assist to TO ratio is worse than Roy's.
I'll remain optmistic, but I don't see how anyone can say they haven't been underwhelmed by his offense this year. We basically play 4-5 when he's out there.

Sapp can't shoot, so for him to be a valuable player he will have to start driving. If he does, he will be a useful player.
If he doesn't he'll never get beyond the role he has now. I am very worried about him, to be honest. It isn't a good sign that we are writing him in as a starter for next year with no confidence at all in his offense.

Honestly, the_way, you can still surprise me.
You've said dozens of mind-numbling stupid things over the years, but "stall-ball didn't hurt us today" takes the cake.
I can't understand how you actually believe what you type.

This has been a season long problem. Everytime a game is close at the end we can't score, and just need to hope the other team misses enough that we hold on.
I'd blame the players, but they aren't the type to create shots. Yet the staff keeps putting them in positions where they have to since we are starting the offense so late into the shot clock.
This is a major problem going forward and I don't believe the team can get to the next level until JTIII changes his late game strategy. We will have the same offensive limitations next years and things will need to change.

get a video of the 2nd half and run it everysecond in practice I'd rather JTIII run it at home.

Heck, if this just led to taking poor shots it would be an improvement. Our delay offense doesn't even lead to a shot half the time.

Agree totally. As soon as we settle into the "we aren't allowed to shoot unless there is 5 seconds or less on the shotclock mode" it becomes obvious we won't get a good shot.
Since we are awful at creating and play a slow offense anyway, waiting 20 seconds to start the offense is NEVER a good strategy. NEVER.
It troubles me deeply that JTIII keeps going to it anyway. When the had the ball at the end I was screaming "do something," since there was no point in the delay.
Our end of game strategy is to hope the other team doesn't score, bevause we never do in the last minute.
Awful game, particularly by the staff.

I don't think many people actually realize how horribly inefficient a player "GMac" actually is.
Overrated is kind. I must say the unprovoked rant was great though.

Schofield and the system he operates in are both complete disgraces. My two favorite quotes:
"What? We didn't have anybody to teach all of that stuff," Mills said, when told of the list. "I don't believe this. We were trying to teach them elementary things, like reading, writing and math. They were having problems reading and writing; they couldn't speak Greek."
"Schofield told The Post that he had a degree from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, a two-year college in Lancaster, Pa. But an official at the school said this week that Schofield had never enrolled there."
The fact that he told his players that they didn't need to go to class was nice too.

I picked up some seats on ebay, didn't want to risk scalping since I'm not sure I'll be able to be in NYC before the first game of the session - good luck to everyone else.

So if I'm a student who wants a ticket, I should just show up at the Southgate early Thursday?

Well, to change the tone of the thread, I hope we don't go after anyone from these schools anymore.
I like Egerson a lot and am happy he is here, but if I knew then what I do now about Lutheran, I would have been against his recruitment. Hopefully the NCAA cracks down on these basketball/grade-inflation factories.

This sign (held by the FOTG) was such poetic genius that I felt it deserved its own thread.

Summers was behind the bench,
Coach Rodney of Kenner fame was there too.
