I saw Xavier a few times this year and think he is absolutely perfect for what the Hoyas need. A true leader and floor general. If he does officially decommit, Pat and the entire staff should be in his living room immediately.

Big time bummer, but no huge surprise. Holtmann is going to do great things at Ohio State. As a guy who always pounds the table for the DMV kids to "stay home", I think Gaffney made a great choice and will have a great career.
Good luck to Gaffney and it is time to move down our list.

Wow this is an absolute killer.
I will root for MD and hope for the best, but I really think one more year would have done wonders for him.
Really takes the wind out of the sails for next year.

Happy to see the Hoyas getting involved against three solid programs, UConn and Cuse. That said, when Golden initially decommitted I watched all the tape on him I could find and I didn't really see him as a fit based on the other bigs Pat has targeted to date. Seems to handle the ball well and attack the basket, but I didn't see any outside shooting or shot blocking. To be honest it was a small sample size and I love seeing the staff involved, but he didn't strike me as a top target.

Wow that is good news!! Everyone including myself has been saying if Akinjo comes for a visit, he is ours. Hopefully the weather is nice and we get him to sign on the dotted line come Sunday!

Mooney is an absolute player. Him and Cremo from Albany would immediately step in and be starters for us next year. Hopefully the staff has reached out to both.

Jim Boeheim being in my home for a visit is a recurring nightmare of mine. My thoughts go out to the entire Stewart family. I am disappointed that it does not seem like Stewart is high on the Hoyas, but PLEASE let this young man go ANYWHEEEERE else.

Trey Porter Position: Forward 6-10, 200lb (208cm, 90kg) Hometown: Woodbridge, VA High School: Potomac Cue the people saying "we need a point guard not another big!!" Porter would be a HUGE addition. To have a player like that in your front court coming off the bench.... Hoyas would have the best front court in the Big East.

Definitely disappointing that it won't be us. My hope is OSU, my guess (quite confident about this) is UVA, my nightmare is UMCP

It is interesting he said that, but he could be referring to Greg or Trey really...
Best case scenario he is referring to Akinjo, possible scenario - Verbeek. I want that kid.

Boy that is a bummer. VT and Ohio State I can understand, but please don't go to freaking UMCP, that place is a dump.
I hope saying those 4 are standing out isn't because the Hoyas aren't giving him the full court press, that would be a big mistake.

On cue.... UConn has three recruits signed for 2018 in guards James Akinjo and Emmitt Matthews Jr., along with big man Lukas Kisunas. Hoyas offered Mathews Jr before he committed to UCONN... Matthews seems like the type of player Pat and Co. are really pursuing. Long athlete who can hit it from the outside. Hopefully the staff gets involved again. Cue the board saying "what we really need is a point guard!!".. of course that is true, doesn't mean the staff shouldn't go after talented players like Matthews as well.

We need a PG for next year. Transfer having to sit out a year not really helpful. Yes it would not help us on the court next year to get Walker, but two years of him in 2019 and 2020 would be great. PG is a MAJOR need for us next year, it's hard to imagine it won't also be a major need for us in 2019. Getting Walker could change that.

Salivating at Newton and Stute 2020. Those two and Earl Timberlake are all big time athletes and fit what Pat is trying to build defensively.
There is always tons of talent in the DMV, but boy the 2019-2020 classes are just loaded.

Man I want that Anthony Harris in blue and grey... Couldn't agree more. Top 2019 G for me, hopefully for the staff too.

I am very intrigued by Verbeek. Skilled player who can handle it and shoot. Kind of a goofy shooting motion, but he gets it up quickly and confidently.
I love the idea of redshirting him, trap him in the weight room and he could be a huge addition to the 2019 class. If not, I think he would still add solid depth to the front court this year, I just don't think he would play a ton this year unless there are injuries.
I am impressed with Pat and the staff for being so active late in the 2018 cycle. It seems to me like the Hoyas are major players for Wendell Mitchell, Alanzo Frink and James Akinjo. Outside shot still with Montgomery. With the craziness of the coaching carousel and the plethora of grad transfers that will be available this year, I have no doubt Pat will add at least two more players to the class making it the best Hoya class in a few years.

The whole conversation about Akinjo's size is nonsensical. He is a well built legit 6 foot PG. No he is not a long, rangy athlete, but his build reminds me of Chris Wright when he first came in.
Akinjo is a day one starter who is exactly what we are looking for. I have no problem going after undersized Chris Lykes, DeQuan Bracey type PGs, but Akinjo is not one of those. His size does not appear prohibitive defensively or in his ability to get to the basket.

With Hurley going to UConn I have to assume Akinjo will be one of his first calls. This just became a tougher situation for Pat without question.

He either follows Hurley to UConn or stays at URI with Cox
