On the recruiting trail, Morsell is up to 19!offers from the likes of UVA, Georgetown, Florida, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Temple, St. Joe’s, Va Tech, Wake Forest and more. He said coaches from Virginia, Temple, Georgetown and Oklahoma State are in closest contact.
So far, Morsell has been able to visit UMD, UVA, Georgetown, Va Tech, Penn State and Temple. He wants to get back to Virginia later this winter for its game against UNC.
“I like Virginia a lot and I like the way they play. Their style fits mine and I feel like I’d be a good fit there. I could see myself there,” Morsell said. “Then Georgetown, that’s another school I like. I talk to them a lot and I like what Coach [Patrick] Ewing is doing there. There’s a few others I’m looking at too, but we’ll see what happens. I’m keeping an open mind.”

Morsell should be our #1 target after the NY bigs (Stewart, Igiehorn, Kofi). One of those and Morsell and I will be THRILLED with the class.

"I would say Georgetown, Virginia, Temple, DePaul, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, and Penn State are the schools standing out the most," he said. "I kind of have a good feel for all of those schools. I've taken a visit to most of them. I also have good relationships with all of those coaches at those schools. The relationships are really important to me.
"Sometime in the spring probably," he said when asked when he might trim things down. "Probably before AAU, I'll have a list together and I'll be able to go from there."
So what does he think will matter as he looks to make his college decision?
"Where I could see myself playing, that's where I want to be," Morsell said. "I want to find that place. Each of those schools I mentioned has a different style and that part doesn't matter as much as if I can see myself there. The process is all about learning that and learning about these coaches and building those relationships. The little things matter to me.

We missed Cowan, let's not miss this young man.

Even though it means nothing, I always like it when I see us mentioned first in a list. Hope!

Want Morsell bad. Need to get back in the WCAC, and he's a great 2 guard.
Too often we blame the coaches for not "putting up a fence" around the area talent. It's just not realistic, some kids just want to go to college away from home. That said, it is horrible that we have one WCAC player on our entire roster right now. Year after year there are 5-8 guys going big time D-1 from this conference. Have to get at least one a year.
How often do the coaches attend WCAC games? I see Pat and staff out seeing Leque, Montgomery and others, but was anyone at SJC vs Dematha last night? O'Connell vs Gonzaga? When we are in town and these teams are playing Pat and staff should be front and center as often as possible.

Patrick was at Gonzaga vs Dematha a week or so ago. I don't know that he has been to St. John's yet. This past summer Morsell was at many Kenner games in the stands (he was my son's SJC camp counselor / team coach this past summer for one of the weeks) and Patrick Jr. was sitting talking with him and his father for long sessions. He is on big Patrick's radar and the sites tracking things have Georgetown at or near the top of the list.
