If anything, I think people underestimate how big of a brand Georgetown basketball still is today.
Some worried if we were irrelevant. We were not, we just weren't winning. This program is a sleeping giant.
Not only is the fanbase happy, but Fox Sports and the Big East conference are happy too that Georgetown is winning again. There is a reason for it.

I like the Navy blue color road jerseys. The ones we wore against Kentucky in 1984. Those are my favorite. It is like the us against the world type of vibe when we where them.
I really liked the ones we wore against WVA this year:
The Kente cloth ones are cool too.

I gotta say that as someone in their 20s and a former student athlete not at the college level, I appreciate how hard Ewing rides the players to make them better. I know it can be a bit much and has caused it’s problems clashing with the inflated egos of players but it’s just absurd how bloated the heads are of most of these college kids when most will not be in the NBA. The overwhelming praise they get everyday before getting to college and sometimes through that is bad for people. I had to deal with the same on my team for someone who was going D2 in soccer but thought he deserved the world and special treatment but quit the team when we got a new coach who was more of a drill sergeant and that made us better overall. It is especially bad for basketball when it’s already one of the more egotistical sports. Also pat’s harsher style will hopefully ensure going forward that when he lands those groups of 4 and 5 stars they’ll be like Dante and Bile and those are the best kind (which I think riley and Mohammed are dawgs so awesome job there). I know this can have it’s critics but Ewing just proved that we should trust the process. Honestly, Ewing's style isn't really all that harsh. No different than any other coach. Dan Hurley, Coach K,etc. are just as demanding and vocal. Getting coachable kids. That is the key. Our current group of kids are coachable, humble, selfless. As talented as Ewing was as a player, those were the traits he exhibited. Both Blair and Pickett had the share of ups and downs, DNPs with Coach. But they were better players for it and so was the team. They stuck it out with Coach Ewing. How about Ewing (and staff) identifying 2 building block pieces of his first recruiting class in a short time period with Pickett and Blair. He was hired late in the recruiting process. Amazing. Getting kids who are willing to be

I'm not surprised MJ called after winning the championship, but he texted or called after every BET game? That's a good friend right there (mentioned around 11 minute mark) MJ was the first one to give Ewing a coaching job when MJ was the GM for the Wizards.

In case anyone (else) was wondering, Dante is the third freshman to be named MVP of the Big East Tournament (a surprisingly difficult thing to nail down). The first was none other than Victor Page in '96 -- notable because he was NOT on the winning team AND that legendary tournament featured three first team All-Americans, in Iverson, Kerry Kittles (MVP the year before), and Ray Allen (on the winning team). Victor was unstoppable the entire tournament. The next (and only other) frosh was Khalid El-Amin, UConn '98. Both Vic and Dante are SE DC guys too.

Our utility man. Another local guy on the team.
Props to Carey. His contributions are appreciated.

I like this kid. He plays his role and plays it well.
How you contribute, be it big or small, you contribute and help the team.
That is Hoya basketball. Props to Collin.

Where we are today as a team is probably a shock to a lot of us.
However, if we look back earlier in the season against the likes of Nova, WVA, we lead in those games if I'm not mistaken. In retrospect, that wasn't a fluke. We could play well in spurts against top competition, but couldn't close out and finish games.
Now that both Bile and Harris are flourishing and we finally are playing some D that we've longed for since the entire Ewing era, things have taken shape. Ewing had a vision for this team from start. Said he wasn't surprised that we finished as Big East tournament champions. He was right. He saw what few did in this team.
This is why you play to win and not for next year. Look at the results in terms of visibility for the program by winning. Ewing had a vision and he was right.

Is this sarcastic? Walton is absolutely terrible. Worse than Vitale. Just an absolute torrent of verbal diarrhea, and usually the poor guy he's paired with can barely get a word in. And this is coming from someone from Walton's hometown. I love Walton. I think I've mentioned here before -- if he's doing your game, you hate him b/c you don't want to hear all the nonsense he's blabbering about. You just want to concentrate on your team. But... if he's doing a game you don't care about, it's great. Because he understands that his job is 99% pointless - and it's entertaining as hell. And he's still got that trove of basketball knowledge where he can pull out 1 or 2 meaningful comments per game. I'd rather hear Walton talk about astrophysics, donkey farms, and the eloquence of "Bruce Hornsby's pianism" (an all-time great TV moment) than Dan Dakich or just about any other pretend expert color guy predict things ala Tony Romo and have exactly the opposite happen all night. The great thing about Walton is that he doesn't take himself too seriously. He is unintentionally funny.

The thing that bothers me is I heard Pat on one of many interviews say that he is will to go anywhere and listen. He was talking about the Knicks and MSG because he says he still has his house in New Jersey. So, he can't own property? lol

I still am confounded how we could play so many years one way under Pat and then post covid break another way. I think no matter how a coach coaches players have to buy in. I credit pat but also the players for making an adjustment. pat had some struggles to get a Blair to play the way he has last few games for several seasons, but I suppose their is something to be said about finding the right players and chemistry and growing together - I think Dante is emblematic of this. Not a better player on paper than the other guards that left, but did the little things and seemed to bring team together. It’s hard to pinpoint one thing but have to think Dante’s reflection ofEwing on floor is one of the biggest reasons for the turnaround (even if Ewing didn’t draw it up that way). Ewing has gotten a good grade in my book re bringing in talent overall. It’s up to him now to make sure he brings in his guys now and knowing what type of talent he wants. Yes, it is the type of players that we have: selfless. Ewing was selfless as a player and so were his teammates. Those guys sacrificed their games for the greater good. Good to great players are one thing, but selfless players are another thing. Last year with the 6-man rotation and now this year shows you what Ewing can do with selfless guys who think team-first. Add some talent in there, and you have got a competitive ball club. You got a chance.

Believing in yourself: Just look at this team and Coach and staff.
They believed.
They earned it and now they are Champions.
NCAA Tournament bound.
We are Georgetown.
Go Hoyas!

There are few players in the nearly 40 years of being a Hoya fan that I have rooted for harder than Pickett. It's not about potential or the measurables, but just about the fact that he chose to take a chance with a new and inexperienced head coach at a school where he had to know the spotlight would be intense. He weathered some "coach's decision" benchings, bouts of underconfidence, sharp criticisms from a fanbase that had expected development sooner than it came, and the frustration of having to become an afterthought in an offense dominated by two alpha guards who seemingly spent more time focused on their own shot than running an offense. Even this year with every TO, poor pass or ugly shot his contributions on defense and on the boards were often unrecognized by those whose patience had worn thin waiting for the production to match the potential. He's still here--not playing overseas or in Arizona, Louisiana or Texas. He's still playing long minutes, making mistakes, feeling the wrath of fanatic fans after a mistake and still flashing that potential. Congratulations young man. I wish there was a true senior night that I could have attended to vocally express my appreciation to you and your fellow 4 year survivor Blair. I hope tonight is not your last game in a Hoya uniform. What makes it even more special is that he is a local kid from DC too. That speaks volumes.

I respect Jay Wright as a premier college coach but I'm starting to really dislike him. He is constantly in the officials' ears and bitches and moans at everything. lol. He was extra whiny today, Ed. He could have won an academy award today with those crocodile tears of his.

Bile has had a couple of tough outings in the BET so far, but the Hoyas need him to bounce back if they are going keep progressing. Need to harness some of that energy and stay out of foul trouble in the next one. Keep rebounding and playing hard!!!! His tenacity and aggressiveness certainly does help even if he isn't lighting up the box score. It has carried over to his teammates. We no longer play tentative as a team. Intensity level is a lot more present and consistent. Always in the fight to the very end.
