im kind of torn on this. duke national visibility is already the highest of any other school. people watching the NBA playoffs and draft already know about duke. though, the commercials have him talking about tony parker and the detroit pistons whom he has no credentials to talk about. thats the part that annoys me the most. him talking about success in life and playing the right way and then citing these people as epitomizing this in the nba.

at the half Stern came on and said they did reach a 6 year agreement. obviously it cant affect this draft, but will it affect 2006 draft? will macklin have the choice to go pro after high school? i like how stern rationalized it: to keep nba scouts out of high school gyms.

Nova and UConn will be projected 1 and 2 in the big east next year and probably be ranked top 10 preseason and maybe even top 5. I say a realistic goal would be to finish 3rd in the big east next year, with anything higher being gravy.
St Johns is a BUY for the next 5-10 years, but i think they experience a sophmore slump and finish near the bottom again next year.

I think we are forgetting that we lost our last 5 regular season games... it isnt so off base to say we "flopped" at the end of the season. Though I agree that the season as a whole needs to be looked at as an extreme positive.

Everyone was to blame for the Bulls last night. Duhon clearly was scared in that situation as he turned his back on the ball when Hinrich was looking right at him ready to pass it. Hinrich should have dunked the blocked layup earlier. Pargo shouldnt have taken that turnaround off balance 3 pointer with like 15 seconds left. And the worst is Tyson Chandler shooting a 2 from above the foul line with 4 seconds left when they needed 3 to win. Thats what happens when you dont go to college.

the problem for me is that it seems every offseason, vitale finds a way to bring up duke into every story he is reporting on. i looked at this article and i thought it was written last year at this time. so i looked back and found his annual summer "why are people bashing duke?" article from last year: espn.go.com/dickvitale/vcolumn040609Duke.htmlalso same picture of Coach K used.. vitale must like that one

i dont mind taking a guy who is overweight and undersized, as long as he has a good attitude and will work hard. look at craig smith who was chubby in high school and wasnt even getting looked at by top programs in his backyard. now he's possibly the best player in the big east due to hard work. im sure jt3 and staff will only take a flyer on thomas if they see in him the commitment it will take to improve.
though i thought someone said we had moved on from thomas?

hopefully the Duke home game will be scheduled for some day after the students return to campus after the holidays. we didnt have much of a home court advantage vs. U-Con this past year because of that..

if PE2 came to visit gtown this weekend then he is definitely coming. this was possibly the best weekend of the year with the weather, springfest, bands, bbq today, and great parties all weekend.

Lundquist and Raftery were terrible during the UNC vs. Villanova game. They were outwardly pro-UNC.. you could tell they wanted a UNC vs. Illinois final. And their decision at the end that the travel was a good call was absurd. I dont know where they learned to count steps. Also "With a Kiss!" might be the most annoying signature phrase in sports.

these radio announcers are annoying.. id almost rather just watch gamecast.
24 vs. 12 fouls is what killed us 14-28 3PT is what kept us in

In retrospect, why did SC get this game at home and not us? They ended the year at 15-13 while we were 17-12. Coming into the game they were 17-13 while we were 19-12. Also they were 7-9 in conference and we were 8-8. We had a better RPI.
Any ideas?!

that ND vs. Pitt game is huge for us. if ND wins, then we are the 6 seed playing Cuse in the 2nd round. if Pitt wins, we are the 7 seed playing UConn in the 2nd round. i'd much rather play Cuse, as UConn is looking like a final 4 team right now.. also we need some help with the poll on www.bigeast.org/sports/mbball/champs/index.aspwho will win the big east championship? we are currently last...

i dont buy the whole "st johns is really tough at home" argument. theyve won 3 games so winning all their games at home isnt some unbelievable stat. they play at a major arena like we do where they probably get no practice time. they dont get big crowds, and are often outnumbered by other teams fans. the fact is, people who saw the game can attest that we played the flattest most unintense game of the season. thats why people are angry over this 4 game streak. not because we are losing, but how we are losing.

u know hoyasforlife.. i agree with you on some of your points. i feel like saying anything against JT3 will result in me being called a traitor, but maybe hes not the main reason why we have had a better than anticipated year. i think that getting rid of esherick and getting a new start helped us get out of that funk. also, jt3 and the new assistants are well liked by the kids, and it matters a great deal how much you like/respect your coach. maybe the image of JT3 has helped the program more than the man himself. also, at the beginning of the year, no one knew how good jeff green would really be. i dont even think he was considered as one of the best freshmen in the big east. our team with an anticipated big east rookie of the year would not have been predicted last.
yall say jt3 was the same coach as he was a month and a half ago, when times were good. but our team hasnt made the improvements that a team should by the end of the year, we have actually digressed both on offense and especially defense. turnovers have skyrocketed, and intensity has dropped.
crawford and hibbert seem to be the only kids really hustling on every play since the BC game, and yet crawford barely sees the floor. the kid should get 20 minutes a game, and if you think otherwise you are insane. ray reed gets tons of minutes against mediocre guards, and today barely plays in the first half against probably the quickest guard in the big east. i thought he was our defensive stopper? i dont mind dizdaravic playing.. he played smart today and had a few points.
bottom line is youre not going to win a game when bowman and cook score 4 points and shoot 1-11.
