The fan base wants a new coach, but will never reach consensus on the selection. I don’t think that’s surprising given the range of alternatives, but it appears that Gates is the leader in the clubhouse. Would he have to accept Ronny? Dealbreaker for a coach worth his salt.

If GU is NOT paying him then he definitely should not be here. To whom is he answering? We have seen no evidence that his services are a bargain at any (or no) price.

Amen. When and if the decision is made to hire a new coach there must be a completely fresh start and outlook. Precisely as you say, no coach worth having will want to or should have to deal with any holdovers in the program. Anything short of a total housecleaning can be expected to result in settling for a lesser candidate (read Amaker, e.g.) and thus overall mediocrity at absolute best.

At what point does benign neglect become negligence?

Ewing is a good coach. That’s from a CBS sports announcer. What you think Hoya gang members? Who said that? I must know.

Can’t coach a lick but wears the hell (or did) out of a turtleneck.

Let’s put Ronny aside for more than a moment.

Listening to ND announcers was annoying initially. It’s becoming more and more enjoyable. 10-2

Matt McMahon and Murray St. beat a good (24-6) Belmont team by 33 last night. Like us, they are perfect in their conference. Last time we thought outside the box was 50 years ago. It’s time to do it again. McMahon is my choice.

Down one 1:50 to go with possession. This is it. Chance to win a league game. What’s the play? Give the ball to Carey and let him create. Wonder how long it took to draw that one up.

I look forward to beating Notre Dame. I fear that the game will be played in that Quonset hut of theirs giving them, imo, an advantage. The forecast high for Saturday in lovely South Bend, Indiana is 35F.

The administration may wait until the end of the season before making an ultimate decision and going public with it. The legend must be respected. If he’s still under contract for the coming year would this administration feel any obligation to make a statement at all (assuming he’s being retained)?

Another big job that might be opening. I wouldn't be shocked if he was relieved of his position. File under "Should Happen But Won't".

Are people on this board really that offended by or worried about having a coach that cheats? Why. Cheaters win, plus, there's no real punishment meted out. I don't think anyone is offended or clutching their pearls - I think that we see it as completely unrealistic that Georgetown would hire a head coach that has a prior history of paying players or something like that. Something like the Tommy Amaker thing or a coach watching unofficial practices they might look the other way on, but they would never hire Kevin Ollie. Don’t think he needs the job.

No thank you. Leaned from Chocula; failed at Seton Hall; failed at Michigan; cheated at Harvard. If by some weird chance he was highly successful, he would bolt for Duke as soon as he got the chance. 1. Impossible premise. Mediocrity would be his ceiling. 2. Duke knows him. He wouldn’t get the chance.
