What a tragic blow for the Prosser family and the Wake family.

That would have made more sense in a pure value point of view, but to get quality pitching back, perhaps this was the best he could do.
It bothers me too that Kenny Dub moved Garcia ostensibly to make room for McCarthy (without getting very much in return) and then trades McCarthy. I guess Garcia being in his walk year forced his hand (along with the front office's apparent perceived lack of quality pitching prospects within the Sox farm system). Sleepy's right, tho - opportunities to challenge again with this edition of the White Sox are rapidly dwindling, and these moves are putting them further and further away from contending.

Bah - such pessimism should be reserved for our stuck in the offseason mud White Sox. I think the Bears have that lucky quality about them that is a necessary ingredient to prevail in the playoffs.
A reliable quarterback is also a necessary ingredient, but I'm optimistic that Grossman can keep it on a more even keel. My real concern at this point is the defense (and Tanks' firearms problems in particular).

This charge is total BS - JJ took 18 shots as reported, but he could only get 3 to go down.
I heard the magistrate had to set a pretty high bond because JJ's next important appearance is in March and the judge was afraid he might not show up.

I can't decide what I think about Ozzie's tantrum in the dugout yesterday when his pitcher failed to retaliate against Blalock after AJ got plunked twice by Vincente Padilla. On one hand, I like that Ozzie wanted protection for AJ, and it's an accepted part of the game (the chuckings that follow the warnings notwithstanding). Although personally, I always thought you should retaliate against the pitcher (which you obviously can't do in the AL). On the other hand, I don't like that Ozzie had his tantrum in public and thrust himself back into the spotlight. After leading the Sox to the championship last year, he can do no wrong in my book, but this is coming pretty close. sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2485365

Having called New Comiskey "the office" for a number of seasons in highschool and college, I'd like to be the first to acknowledge that it left a LOT to be desired (up to and including the return of Old Comiskey Park, indelible stench of stale beer + diarrhea and all). Having found subtantially more gainful employment elsewhere in the nation, I've yet to take in Comiskey 2.02 first-hand, but on TV it looks very much like it should have back when it first opened.

All is well. So long as we can play the hapless Royals all year long, I think they could win as many as 120.
The AL standings are a little odd. Seems like everyone's playing .500 or better, which doesn't make sense until you look at the Royals' record...

The new job is putting quite a crimp in my posting, but I'm glad C86 was there to pick up White Sox Nation for us.
Dropping the first series of the season to the Tribe doesn't make for an auspicious beginning, however. Hopefully the staff comes around to its '05 form in short order.

Weis on the other hand, has gotten everyone in the nation giddy about ND and their prospects for the rest of the year again. Mmmmmmm, that must be some tasty, tasty Kool-Aide.

It's still unconfirmed, although the AP has one of those squirrely anonymous sources from inside the Kremlin.

Well, as much as I dislike Bonds, words said to a SportsIllustrated reported and words printed in Kitty's book don't have equal credibility and gravitas. I'm offering that only as an explanation for why people aren't making a bigger deal out of the latter.

Is it well documented (honest question)? I thought it was just in Ron Kittle's book. Now, being a White Sox fan, I love Kitty as much as the next Sox fan, but I wouldn't necessarily describe him as following in the best traditions of journalism/investigative reporting. Heck, Kitty's been known to have a bit of an uncontrollable mouth. Here's what ESPN's reporting (link's on the homepage as of Friday a.m.): Click Here.

Apparently, Gaughan ended up hitting Petty after replacing Bliss, forcing Petty to leave the race. Afterwards, Petty blamed "that truck-driver" for his accident and opined that "he should have stayed in Texas." Maybe Brendan's rant about the NEXTEL Cup drivers did make it to pit row at Pocono...
