Chicago Tribune is reporting that the ink on the divorce papers is all but dry... www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-catholic-7-big-east-20130307,0,4402403.story A separation agreement was complete Thursday and merely awaited sign-offs from presidents and attorneys on the football side of things, two sources told the Tribune. Those didn't land in time for an official announcement, though a Big East source said Friday was "looking good" for the break-up to go public.
...
By now, all pronouncements of announcements should be considered tentative, given the complicated nature of the enterprise. But should it become official, the major items are well known by now.
DePaul, Marquette, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova will take the Big East name, their NCAA tournament units and the championship tournament at Madison Square Garden as they leave. Their new league will begin play in 2013-14.
Almost immediately, per one source with knowledge of the talks, Xavier and Butler will be added to bring the new league to nine members -- once those schools fork over $2 million each in exit fees to the Atlantic 10 for leaving with less than 12 months' notice.

The ACC isn't adding Georgetown as a complement to ND because ND isn't going to stay quasi-independent from the ACC in football much longer.
Eventually, ND will have to join up with a conference in order to maintain relevance, and the ACC is betting they will be the big winners by having hosted them through the transition.
At that point, the ACC can or will add a 16th full member to round out the conference. At best, Georgetown may have kept that seat warm for someone, and would certainly receive the Temple treatment when ND eventually gives up the last vestiges of its vaunted independence.

Great win for the team and the program!
Now I'm convinced - it's time to join the Big East in football (okay, it's hard not to want to get carried away).

Ooooff-aaaa, that was ugly. Seems like the Hoyas gave up some very long scoring plays.

We may not be North Dakota State, but we ARE Georgetown.

You think this little document is going to placate the rabid birther masses? Sure, it might peel off some of the periphery, but the true believers have become too invested over the past 3 years to give up now.
My prediction is that birther 2.0 will drop inside of 48 hours.

Congrats to the Hoyas, esp. the seniors. These wins have been a long time coming.

We'll see if Colgate takes two steps forward when the final score is posted. I'm not of the impression that another 61-7 drubbing at the hands of the Oranginas would not be a step forward for Colgate.

If we're going to suck, it's worth doing right; catching all the last place votes but your own has to be a good start.

Can't think of a more perfect ending for this season than tonight's performance. A nice little microcosm of how it all unfolded.

That's a very thoughtful post, FL, but I disagree to an extent. I don't see the decision to tech up a particular player (rather than the bench) as a 50/50 call, particularly if you don't see the player jawing at you. In a loud environment, with your back to the bench, there's just no basis to be assigning a foul to a particular individual. Donato was at least looking at the action when he made his judgment call, so he had all the relevant evidence in front of him. Cahill's technical just seemed like lashing out.

If you guys plan to stay in the DC area long term, take the Virginia bar exam. Having a Virginia license will make you infinitely more marketable in DC that a NY license. Plus, there's no heroism in sitting for the tougher bar if you're not planning to practice in that jurisdiction.
If you're feeling your future legal career will be more transient, consider which jurisdiction has the best reciprocity arrangements with the jurisdictions you might like to practice in one day. For example, if you think you might want to work in North Carolina one day, it's my understanding that the Virginia bar won't do you a lot of good.

I wonder what percentage of folks who just passed the bar exam yesterday ran out and promptly did something to disqualify themselves from admittance.

Santa Claus can promise all kinds of things, but we all know that it is the working moms and dads that really supply the presents. WHAT!?! ARE YOU SAYING SANTA ISN'T REAL!?! That there is a banning offense, to my tender sensibilities.
