My brother is among the tens of thousands still without power in Kentucky and elsewhere. He and others have had no power since Tuesday. What is FEMA doing? And, where is our President? Haven't seen any reports of him being in the area hit. For at least four years, the B&G board is going to be unreadable, isn't it? Hit the nail on the head with that one.

The implication clearly was that Obama was celebrated in the press and now don't expect Michael Steele to be celebrated in the same way.
The response was President > RNC chair
Many conservatives (making a general statement here Ed, not attacking you) are hypersensitive about (real or perceived) unfair press coverage. The post about the first black RNC chair had included a barb about the press.

I don't think any mention of officiating is lame.
I think it's actually a very good point. People were posting in other threads about this being a finesse team, which is a valid point I think. If we're getting pushed around and the refs are calling them fouls, we seem to be okay.
If it's a very physical game and the refs are letting it go (which isn't necessarily wrong, this is the big east after all), we don't seem to have an answer. We don't body up on defense, and instead of driving harder when they're using their bodies to stop us, we back off.
The problem isn't the refs calling a loose game, it's us not having the physical presence (physical toughness?) to hold our own, even within the system we run.
This lends itself to a host of other things, most importantly rebounds.

I like how following the law is 'giving up critical tools necessary to keep us safe.'

It just seems like the whole game the team wasn't given a fair chance. -Monroe gets a T from the bench -Greg Paulus steps into someone (wright, sapp? don't remember) like he wants to fight, no T
But unbelievably: Singler literally swings at Wattad and just gets an intentional foul. That should have been an ejection, I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more mention of it.

hoyafan ny sorry that is false false false. we've tried to take (at least that i've counted) 5 (5!) charges where there was serious contact and our player went down. and nothing. nothing.
i don't ever want to have to watch them play at this stadium again. they had their ups and downs. with monroe allowed to play working with dajuan, we win this game. our guards' play was suspect at times, but overall i like the way we look in this game. let this game happen in march. not in perplexiville. hoyasaxa

You said the player's actions and not the result of the play should determine the call? The defender's actions are exactly what determines the result of the play. Dajuan landed on the floor because on a play that was clearly going to finish in the air (dunk or not) he was hit hard hard from an arm across the body.
It wasn't insanely dirty or malicious, but it was more than just going for the ball and having contact. It was a hard foul to stop Summers from scoring and was called as such. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't strong enough.

Why does III only let five players play on the court at a time? This team has a lot of talent, just send them all out there and see who steps up!

i deleted an earlier post i wrote about this because i don't like to whine, but after that i'll say it. the refs are letting all contact go under georgetown's basket, ESPECIALLY not wanting to call a 5th foul on harangody
4 pt swing with 4 minutes in that game and harangody out. not the reason we're losing, but damn frustrating

Fluid at times, physical at times, gritty on D and never backed down on offense. Just beautiful. Poise poise poise, lead cut to 3 and they don't blink, just keep on playing like they know they can.

the notes would be entertaining if they weren't so sad.
"Can GU regulate students' cars/parking off campus?'
Problems on the 1789 block include people walking and being noisy. I hope the people complaining didn't miss the irony of referring to it as the 1789 block. I completely understand fighting vandalism (though I don't see it being a large issue) and things like that, but 'people' and 'noise?' Students have a 'clock' different than neighbors? Not to sound insensitive, but, well, duh. Did you move into your house in 1788?
Is it reasonable to move next to a major college campus with 6000 students and complain about students being there? Darnall is too close to the neighborhood?
Honestly, what does the neighborhood ultimately want?

But that claim is based on nothing more than what he suspects Rahm's role will be. It can just as easily be argued that he is going to be the junkyard dog to work for Obama against Republicans. To me, that is more the Weekly Standard projecting their hopes that Obama will not be left of center.
