Maybe the NJIT win at Michigan was a harbinger of things to come. Final score tonight in Ann Arbor: Eastern Michigan 45, Michigan 42. Eastern Michigan shot a whopping 33% from the field for the win. NJIT beat St. Francis-Brooklyn last night too. POWERHOUSE

From my watching of the games, it just seems like Otto's shooting has gone a little cold. Most of his shots come off of screens a little ways back from the elbow, and kick outs for 3. And he just hasn't been making them. So Whitman, sensing that he needs to get some scorers back on the floor, gets Beal or Pierce back in the game.
I still think Otto is doing a great job defending, rebounding, and getting people looks. But he needs to start hitting some shots, or he's going to be seeing less and less of the floor once Webster comes back and Butler continues shooting so well. I don't know Butler that well, but I almost feel like he's having a Jeremy Lin type moment that's going to be tough to sustain.

Random place to ask this question, but hopefully someone will answer. And apologies if this has been discussed before. What's the philosophy behind ALWAYS playing zone when the ball is in-bounded beyond half court? My guess is it's to cut down on cuts to the basket, but it always seems odd to me that JTIII sticks to it so religiously, especially when zone hasn't been working at all during a game.

We have a huge game against Kansas this week. What do you think is more important, getting Hayes minutes or getting our better players more experience playing together?

It's too bad coach couldn't figure out a way to play Green, Monroe, and Hibbert together, but I guess spacing would have been challenging. Also, eligibility. Look, if a basketball team is willing to play Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond together, JT3 should have been able to figure out how to play Hibbert, Green and Monroe together, spacing and eligibility be damned. Of course, JT3 is way too stubborn and wouldn't adjust his Princetown offense to figure out how to solve the spacing/eligibility issues and capitalize on his talent. Plus, we all know JTIII never plays freshman, so Hibbert would've never seen the floor.

Never before in a season of Georgetown basketball have there been so many references to women's shoes.

Kind of contradicts himself in the article though. Says that they can't be that good because they don't have any shooters, can't play in the half court, etc. but then goes on to acknowledge that they have a lot more talent coming in. So tough to say that they've peaked.

Zagoria is such a clown. Tweeting a recruit about how he should feel about a school. No wonder no one takes him seriously.

Is the "glue guy" the same guy who's a gym rat, that gets his hard hat and lunch pail and goes to work? Probably also a coach's son.

Yeah, too bad we don't have a low post scoring threat on this year's team. Except for maybe that guy who might be one of the best low post scorers in the country.

This year will be JTIII's biggest coaching challenge, and I mean that in a good way. I'd have to say last year was JTIII's biggest coaching challenge. He lost 2 starters (Smith and Whittington), and a third (Jabril) for a significant period of time. There were 2 players on the team that could score, and all the opponents knew it. Add that to a relatively weak roster, now that's a challenge. Reggie Cameron was starting games last season. So far this season he's playing 7.5 minutes a game. I think any coach would welcome the "challenge" of having a versatile talented roster.

Really wish our student section was better than the ol' "white walk-on name" chant at the end of blowout games. It's lame, lazy, and disrespectful to other walk ons and players who don't see the floor.

Interestingly, according to KenPom, his %Poss in this game was 31.1% which has him classified as a "Go To Guy" (>28%) - by far the highest on the team. It seems when he was on the court, he was finding great situations for himself as he was 4 of 5 from the floor. 4 of 5? I remember 2 misses. One from 3, and also a block on a layup/scoop.

JT3 said during the practice that there would be two more signings - since there's no one ranked that is left unsigned, these signings more than likely are going to be the next Vee Sanford or Jerelle Benimon more than the next Otto Porter or Greg Whittington. The fact is though we need depth - and even Jerelle and Vee played their freshman years in important situations. Gonna say it again - this recruiting period has been an absolute disaster after Noah. I don't know what needs to change but the program has to be able to seal the deal in the summer or fall. Have you even watched the kid play TC? What recruit did you think we should have landed and did not? Personally I think the disaster comment is absurd. A disaster is St Johns situation, 5 seniors and 0 players signed for next season. Having 2 top 100 kids signed is not a disaster and I know you keep saying “after Noah” but still it’s a silly comment. We’ve landed 6 top 100 kids in the last year or so, perspective. I think what needs to change is fans need to understand recruiting isn’t easy... And let's face it, landing a highly touted guard not from the DMV would've been HUGE. DSR is the biggest to date, right? Until we get a guard to the league, hope for the best, expect the worst. Which reminds me, we should all definitely be calling LJ Peak a guard, for when he goes to the NBA. Say it with me "LJ Peak is a guard, not a SF/wing"

It's not a coincidence, especially since JTIII never says stuff like this. Why else would he choose to do so at this time? I remember JTIII saying similar things about DSR before his freshman season during a radio interview. Suggested that DSR might break the starting rotation.

I really hate this let's bash our players so they stay mentality, "like you want them to be great college players but not great pros so they stay one more year". You saw this when Monroe left and with Hollis where people were critical of them leaving and saying they needed to stay one more year. In Hollis' case it was the right decision. He earned an extra year of salary and now is entrenched as a starter with the 76ers. It's really stretching it to say he made a bad decision. Especially since he came in a semester early, I'm sure with the intention of trying to leave early to join the league.

Averaging 12.5 9 boards 4 blks a game… Don’t know what people expect, but he’s not a superstar player. He’s a good defensive center and those are solid numbers I'm not saying he isn't, I was just wondering about the lack of posting up. Granted I tuned in at the end of the 1st quarter, but I didn't see him post up once.

For people that follow the Pacers more, how come they don't post Roy up that much? Is that by design, or is that Roy not being assertive?
