The "Glue Guy" position and moniker was held by Nate Lubick aka Coaches Son, who also would be subjected to the board's wrath thus becoming the proverbial whipping boy.
Staying with the subject of the new "Glue Guy" for this years squad.... The player on the team who does all the dirty work and makes the hustle plays. Who inherits that title now?

Based upon how his ass is stuck to the bench, I will say Hayes

Everyone is being asked to take that role. Hopkins, Bowen, and Josh are taking most of his responsibility of dirty work and put backs.

I'm thinking Bowen and Hopkins at this point. Still really early. I like the role that Bowen is fulfilling. Hope he continues to play well as the competition ratchets up a few notches.

Based upon how his ass is stuck to the bench, I will say Hayes In his post game quotes JT3 indicated that Hayes had been injured which is likely part of it too. The more we get out of Smith though the less we will see Hayes.

That's true to an extent, but Josh's 26 minutes last night is probably the most we'll see from him in a game this season, so there should be center minutes to go around.

Bowen is a classic glue guy. Sparkplug. As for Glue Guy, its going to be Paul White. But as for now, God help us, it might be Hopkins.

I don't think so--I think it's the guy that does all the little things (rebounding, directing defense, getting loose balls, makes the pass that sets up the pass that sets up the bucket, etc) to ensure the team wins. Otto was a glue guy.

lol. Nate wasn't close to a glue guy. People wanted to make him out to be that, but nah, he wasn't a glue guy. Let's just leave it at that.
Here are some past great Hoya glue guys.
Jonathan Wallace
Darrel Owens
Boubacar Aw
Jessie Sapp (When he wasn't fighting Chris Wright for control of the team)
Pat Ewing Jr.
Glue guys are great leaders who hold it together on and off the floor. They are the guys who make winning plays in dire need. Heck, I'd even say Jeff Green and Otto Porter were glue guys, even with their star power.
The closest thing we have to a glue guy on this team is Jabril. I saw Aaron Bowen's name mentioned, and he's not close to a guy guy. He's a role player. He's an energy guy off the bench, no more no less. Jabril does everything, scores, rebounds, defends, passes the ball. Only question with him is can he remain poised enough on the floor to bring calm to tense situations when we need it.

Glue guy holds down the team and does whatever is needed to make the team better. Neither Bowen nor Hopkins is doing that if things go bad. So far it has been Brilly but I could see both PW and LJ growing into that role.....to be fair Hop has been a glue guy on the D side.....

The ultimate "glue guy" was Eric Smith who could do anything and everything needed to make his team better.

Put me down for Jabril as well. I always felt the term was incorrectly applied to Lubick, probably because there really wasn't much good to say about his game, save for his passing and work ethic I guess. He was more of a lunch pail guy than a glue guy.

Is the "glue guy" the same guy who's a gym rat, that gets his hard hat and lunch pail and goes to work? Probably also a coach's son.
