So that those who can't make it can get the details, please post here any recaps and thoughts from any who go to the Hoya open practice on Saturday. I'm excited to get further anecdotes and thoughts on the freshman as well as returnees. Thanks in advance!

Q&A just finished. In McDonough now. No decision yet on starters beyond DSR. Coach said D'Vauntes will show more of his skills distributing the ball this season but assured us he will still score and won't be pass first. JTIII likes how versatile this team is on both sides of the ball. Compared it to the team two years ago where multiple players could defend multiple positions. Attachments:

Huddle up. Just ran the three man weave as requested during the Q&A. Hopkins looks ripped. NBA body on him this season. Josh is thinner and mobile. Not svelte by any means but better. Reggie is hitting his threes running sets. Both Treys need to add some muscle. Attachments:

JT3 on who will start: "D'Vauntes and four other guys." Also said playing pre-conference tournaments is important in part because we can't get on espn for our conference games due to the Fox contract.

Not exactly promoting the Fox brand - although I realize that recruits know ESPN far more than Fox for college bball.

Don't forget the voters for the polls may not watch fox as much as espn. All the more reason our conference needs to do well in non-conference, so we have a few ranked teams that can't be ignored during conference play.

Coach spoke for some time on the schedule, especially on playing the tournaments, Bahamas this year, Duke and Wisconsin next year and the Nike thing 2 years from now. He also looked forward to the Italy trip next summer, saying we were all invited along. He noted that next year's frosh will get to go on the trip, something he's clearly using as an incentive in recruiting. He also mentioned renewing the rivalries with SU and UConn. Late in the session he was asked what he looks for in a recruit. He said "versatility, being able to play and guard multiple positions."
Talking to the team during the autograph section, they're looking forward to the Bahamas trip, especially getting to play some tough competition. They said they've been working hard and seem to want to get on the court against another team as soon as possible.
At the practice, they team was working on the half court offense. Coach would stop frequently for corrections/refinements. Jabril was directing traffic and pointing guys where they should be. DSR and Cameron were making most of their shots. Hopkins, Jabril and Josh have all been doing serious gym time. The new guys looked pretty good for this early on. Copeland was active on the boards and running the court. Peak was good on both ends and looks to have improved his shot from the summer. Trey Mourning is a high energy guy who doesn't quite have the bulk to play against Smith and Hopkins inside. I liked seeing Josh run the floor and the pick and roll. As during his better moments last season, when he got the ball in the post, he was unstoppable. Hayes was wearing a heavy boot and tape and was restricted to shooting free throws. Finally, a shout out to Tyler Adams. He's like another coach out there. He did some warm ups but didn't play. He stayed involved in the practice, giving advice from the sidelines, and talking with the big guys during breaks.

I wonder if coaching might indeed be Tyler's postgrad future. I'd add that I thought DSR looked very smooth running the point. Bowen had a sick reverse layup. Nifty passing by most everyone.

Coach was asked about the status of next year's recruiting class. He said we have 2 commits, and we'd be adding 2 more - and "possibly" a third.
Then he backtracked a little bit and said "if you put a gun to my head, I'd say we'll add 2 more."

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the days leading up to it.

This was my first full OP. Took the 3 year old and 4 and half year old. Can't say enough about what a great group of gentlemen we have representing us.
