I don't mind our bigs shooting an occasional wide-open 3. It's a gamble, but they will hit those sometimes. IIRC a guy named Hibbert won a game for us that way.

Can't say I'd mind if Coleman has to sit the rest of the game

Every borderline call is going their way right now. True that. But we got more calls 1st half, I thought. Meanwhile, our #15 is pretty good.

I don't know what the rebounding numbers are thus far, but it seems as though they are killing us on the glass. They must be getting at least a third of their points that way.

Could have been, since there was a bit of showboating involved.
At the risk of stating the obvious, Chris Wright has matured into an incredible college player. He's so much better than as an underclassman. Austin has been good all along, but Chris has learned to play within himself and within the system and it's producing some beautiful basketball.
I'm not as down on Julian as some, but I am way impressed with Henry and Nate so far. Nate seems to be getting better game by game. Telling stats: Nate & Henry had five assists each.

Very feel-good ending to a blowout game that for me was 2/3 spectacular, 1/3 sloppy. Particularly in the first half, there were some drives taken that weren't quite there in the finishing, and some attempted thread-the-needle bounce passes that went into too much congestion. App St also managed to grab a few too many offensive boards in both halves that we were tipping. Austin finished with decent numbers but didn't look that great at times. Three of his short-range conversions were especially good, but he missed on a couple where he didn't have good position and missed his 3s.
But otherwise outstanding, especially on defense (14 steals, 4 blocks, D Sims held way below his average) and of course the passes that did connect, especially from Chris, included some beauties. Even Nate and Henry got into it.
Best game from Hollis in some time, and best game yet from Nate.

my main issue is that Julian can't keep having these 3 of 9 shooting games I don't thimk that's fair. In evaluating Julian's offense, you have to consider all the times he got to the line (4?) and scored. A more accurate, adjusted line would be 7 of 13.

No reason to jump off the ledge. We lost to a good basketball team on their floor. Don't forget, we were very fortunate to beat them at home last year. I know looking at the schedule at the beginning of the season, I would have been very satisfied with the start to the season. Exactly. It took last minute heroics by Greg Monroe, an all-BE player and lottery pick who is no longer on the team, to beat Temple last year. On paper, last year's team was better than this year's. And Temple's defense was the best I have seen in a very long time. There's no way we were going undefeated. Yeah, a bit more control from Chris and Hollis in key situations, a lockdown defense on Moore, etc., could have won the game. But we're not going to play our flat-out best every game. Sometimes we're going to make mistakes and run into a team that has a hot night. We're good but we're not going to be great every night. It's not that bad a loss. Rushing the court? That was really lame of them.

Interestingly enough I havent read anything about charles smith. Would he be in the 7-12 range all time?? I think so. He was a heady guard who carried the team on more than the odd occasion, winning BE POY, BE tourney MOP, and IIRC second-team AA. Excellent shooter, passer, & defender who improved every year he was here. One of our very best guards IMHO.

1. Yes, the pass back to Chris was a great move. 2. Henry getting out of the way of that throw-off move was AWESOME. A lot of bigs would have gotten hit in the shin, let the ball trickle out of bounds, and the game is over. Henry MOVED. 3. Jason attempted to foul on Missouri's inbounds play. It was arguably the stupidest thing I've ever seen on a basketball court. With regard to 3, Chris Weber has that beaten by a mile. So does Fred Brown . . .

Shooter didn't go down on the play I'm thinking of. Jason got his arm.
