Chris has looked a little tired the last 3 minutes or so - but we're fine & overall he's played quite well.

Chris Wright was a wrecking ball in the second half. Driving to the hoop, creating contact, and getting to the line. Henry looked extremely solid against a small Wofford frontcourt. Austin scores a quiet 14, and the Hoyas pull away because...well...we were just a better team. True that, and I would add Julian to the list of players who should be called out for very good play.

@ Map, Chris has been playing extremely well this season, IMO....He had 13 assists last night, and is absolutely an NBA point guard I wasn't ragging on Chris, just lamenting that we don't run the break very well - it might be a spacing problem, not all CW's fault. I agree he's playing fantastic right now. I don't particularly care about the NBA, but that's a different issue.

Reggie was a scorer who could shoot, Jason at this point more a shooter who can defend. Loving what I'm seeing from Jason this year, but Reggie was the best player in the BE during his time and one of the best in the country. Not a great comparison except that both are skinny guys who can light it up.
JWall was a great shooter, but I will always remember him best as a great leader, one of the best Hoyas ever at running a team in several senses of the word. And I agree with Ed that "and" sits better than "versus" in linking these two Hoyas.
All that said, JC's first three games this year have been magnificent. Our most effective and consistent player so far on a team loaded with backcourt talent.

Nate was a decent shooter in HS _ I predict it will come for us too in time: "He shot the ball consistently in pick-and-pop action (off both down screens and ball screens), scored with a variety of fundamentally sound post moves (drop steps and up and unders), and even faced up to score off the bounce (in isolations from the short corner or coming off the ball screen at the elbow)." "He can bully people in the paint, stretch defenses to the three-point line, and drill mid-range jumpers." espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/46143/nate-lubick

My player of the game is Jason, who seemed to do just about everything, boards, steals, points, deflections, assists. No one can score like Austin, but I'm going with #21 for his all-around game tonight.
I thought we were extremely impressive building the big lead, and somewhat mixed after that - occasional big plays interspersed with mistakes and some terrific shooting by Richard from Tulane. We might have been in some trouble without Julian if Tulane had much inside strength/game. Henry, Nate and Hollis all played well, but none has the combination of strength and experience that JV has and it shows.
Our guards were all pretty fantastic, except maybe for Bowen who isn't anywhere near ready for prime time. It's still good that he got some minutes. I was surprised not to see a little of Markel, but it might have been the right move for Vee to get the PT.
Nice to have an early-season game at Verizon with the students there. That's been missing in recent years due to scheduling.
A bit worried about Julian. I'm fine with not speculating but any actual information will be welcome when someone has some to share.

Count me among those very impressed with Nate after two games. He seems quite comfortable out there, and I can't remember the last time we had a bigger guy hustle that much - he is always moving, always quick. I'm impressed with him *for a freshman*, you know? A lot of poise for his first game at Verizon. Agree it will be even better if/when the offense comes.

>Chris's catch-3pter in the corner was the dealbreaker for the game.
No kidding. Second was the outlet to someone (Jason to Chris? Chris to Jason?) streaking down the court ahead of the ODU defense.
I haven't looked at the box yet but we must have had very few assists, and ODU must have had a ton of blocks.
I loved what I saw from Nate. If he were an inch or two taller he would be dominant defensively. He has very good instincts and is more athletic than most expect from a big white guy (I know, I know). Julian has proven himself to be a very good complementary player but it may be asking more than he can give for him to be THE big man. Scares me a bit for the BE season. Not that we have an alternative.
Austin was just terrible in the first half, very good in the last 10 minutes; but our best player has to make those clutch free throws. Jason and Nate were our most consistent players.
ODU didn't play very well offensively, which helped us a lot.
I was surprised not to see Vee.
I wouldn't be critical of the fans who thought the game was lost. The team gave them every reason to think that and very little reason to think otherwise until the last several minutes.
