(Hampton is in the playin game which is good luck) Absolutely, the fact that Hampton and their band are making an appearance in Dayton three days before us and on the eve of Nat Burton Day can only be a good omen. Plus, at least on my CBS bracket, our first round game/path through the tourney is in the EXACT SAME SPOT as it was in 2001--7-10 game in the bottom right. They dont have any blue turf in Dayton do they?

It seems to me that UNI lives and dies by the 3 pt shot. We have not been strong in defending them this year, but we should dominate the boards if there are any.
Any thoughts on the matchup 2-3 we have shown? We could extend the zone and just let Hibbert and Green police whatever garbage gets through.

Well, that week in 2001 it sure was. I never thought I'd get so drunk in Idaho.

Boise was a lot of fun. Although no potatoes. We kept asking all the local people where to get a good baked Potato and they kept saying Wendy's or Chili's. I mean they don't even have a place the Great American Potato Company in Annapolis. In addition to crabs and football I'm adding potatoes for Maryland.

Almost every team that hasn't played aganist our type of offence struggles the first time. These teams aren't used to the different style that we play and that is good for us and they don't have much time to review the tapes before the games. That is what helped out WVU last year. Those teams hadn't seen a 1-3-1 or spread offence during the year, and WVU almost got to the final four. We don't play a 1-3-1, but we do play a unique spread offence, and some tough man D and matchup zone.

Northern Iowa Stats.
Pomeroy: 24. Pomeroy Pythagorean: 47.
Offensive Adj Efficiency: 71st at 107.2 Defensive Adj Efficiency: 34th at 91.2
I'm guessing from their stats (low % of 3's given up, low amount of assists) they play mostly man to man.
Their defense has a good eFG% of 45.9%, but the strength is a lack of giving up offensive boards (only 26.4%) and the fact that they don't foul anyone (FT rate of 23.0)
We've been on a good O rebounding run, but aren't a strong team overall. And we all know we don't go to the line much. I don't expect us to see the line at all unless Roy or Jeff becomes too much.
They defend the 2 better than the 3. They don't force a lot of turnovers, so we have a shot to have one of those sub 10 turnover days.
On offense, they don't do much well except make their 2s and avoid getting blocked. They shoot more threes than we do. But they don't shoot them that well.
Whether or not its because he's facing a lot of attention, Jacobsen actually isn't that efficient. Think Brandon's level of efficiency if not his game. Coleman and Grant Stout are more efficient, but I hope our size can help shut down Coleman (short strong guy, though) and maybe Stout.
Brooks McKowen has a nice assist rate, but he can turn the ball over a bit.
Their strength is D, and with the slow pace we both play, I can see this ugly and slow, keeping UNI in it. I'm betting that's how they won most of their games.

This play against the university of the North of iowa leopards is not a simple play. The leopards will begin the strong play very much, because they would like to examine to the passionate observers of the sport that they belong in the selection of the NCAA. The crews the Missouri conference of lowering would like to justify themselves that they earned 4 crews in the tournament, because this quantity of crews came under sharp objection. The opportunity for this selection best be present more than one of the 8 crews from the Large East.
The Georgetown University of Hoyas must overcome the pain of their difficult loss to try to the orange of Syracuse. If they are in that to play the basketball which they played in late January and in early February, they won.
The keys to this play are, if our Hoyas can use the advantage of tallness. Their players are much higher. Mr. Hibbert and Mr. Green and Mr. Bowman must increase and collect the missed shots. The Hoyas must also in the situation its to defend the three shooting point of the leopard because many of their shots are away from far. I am convinced that John Thompson of the Third its crew within these ranges of the play prepared to let our Hoyas be successful.

The Pine Club in Dayton is the spot to hit for steaks. Just a suggestion as I was born near there.

From their board - "Worthless? What do you know about him? I'd say that's a pretty uneducated opinion. He's 7 foot 2 and weighs 285 lbs. You can't teach that kind of advantage." 7'2 you can't teach that.

More "love" for Roy: "In watching Hibbert play a couple time this year I haven't been at all impressed. He is huge, and is a beast on the boards, but offensively he looks extremely confused whenever he touches the ball. I know I haven't seen him play that much, but I was really hoping to see him match up with Erek Hanson, so the two most clueless 7 footers in college basketball could square off. In the games I saw him play, all his points came on put backs, which to me is where UNI wins or loses, The glass, if Coleman decides to be agressive and a beast himself, then we will be fine. I am just very suprised to hear so much praise for Hibbert. Maybe I caught him on off days. The Big East is not the most phyiscal of conferences on the inside, and he definately takes care of himself, but I don't think he is a dominant force. He will be no where near as good as O'Bryant on the offensive side. I think we can drag him out of the post on defense with screens and action in the high post that should take away his decent skills at blocking and changing shots." www.panthernation.com/showthread.php?t=3907&page=2

Sometime during the practice week, III should take an hour off, lock the doors (if they're not already locked), turn down the lights and turn things over to Pops fo a short seminar on the "effective" use of our 6 allowed personal fouls, how to put a foot on someone's throat and not take it off and in general, how to effectively "terminate" an opponent. We need a little toughness to go along with our finesse game. Big Roy should have to run laps (kind of like Willy Mays Hays doing push-ups) during the game for every time he doesn't jam an offensive rebound right off the top of somebody's head.

Agreed Boz - Any place that claims the band Slipknot as their most prestigious export of the past decade isn't working with much!
