I know they are the only MVC team with wins versus power conferences...and that's about all I know.

They've lost 5 out of their last 7 games. Got to beat them.

I've watched them and they're good. But they got screwed playing the Hoyas. Their tallest guy is about 6'8 and they have zero depth. Plus they're not particularly good with the ball or shooters.
What they are is efficient when they're in rhythm and play good team defense. But man against Princeton, that's going to be tough for them to defend for 30 seconds and then have to stare down Roy or Jeff.

By the numbers:
UNI Record: 21-9 (11-7, 5th place MVC) RPI: 25 SOS: 60 vs. RPI Top 50: 8-7 vs. RPI Top 100: 8-8 Quality wins: Iowa, LSU (neutral), at Wichita St., Southern Illinois, Wichita St., Bucknell Bad losses: at Indiana State (162) Last 10: 4-6
Players: I believe Ben Jacobsen is a good 3 point shooter (by rep only), but they shoot 34% as a team from 3. 3 guys average in double figures, and 6 guys average 30 minutes per game (similar to ourselves).

If that's the case about their smallish stature, I wanna see Jeff get the first triple-double in Hoya history.
Or Roy go off for 20-12.

They've lost 5 out of their last 7 games. Got to beat them. And USF lost seventeen straight.... I expect us to win, but we play to the level of our competition so often, I can believe we'll have a struggle on our hands. Who'll show up: the Hoyas of the first half vs. 'Cuse or the tight and tiring crew of the vesper half? I'll be under the knife on Friday, so I'll miss the game. Here's hoping St. Patty's Day is kind to both the team and me.

The first game is always tough except for a one or a two seed. We can win this game, but we have to be ready.
GO HOYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SKIN the Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the last time the Hoyas played UNI was out in Las Vegas about 10 years ago. Picked up a win, I believe.

So excited ... despite the disrespect of a 7 seed (and a potential away game on Sunday) ... can anyone tell me when the times of the games will be posted?

Digger and Bilas have us in the Elite 8. (Bilas likes how we defend - I don't think he means the 3). But we MUST NOT discuss anything other than N. Iowa.
We need to come out and show how we can play (i.e. vs. Duke, first half of 'Cuse game). N. Iowa has one guy who's 6'10, another that's 6'8. Everyone else is small. Our frontcourt should exploit that. Jeff and Roy need to step up and work on their FT shooting b/c they're definitely gonna head to the line. Yes, N. Iowa hasn't played well of late, but neither was USF. Let's play at OUR level of competition, not theirs.
It's time to ball.

ok so i have done a little research on this NIU squad. They basically play a 3 G, 2F starting lineup with the tallest cat at 6'8 (Stout - better of the two) and the other forward at 6'6...the other 3 are smallish guards with the guy Jacobson being their scorer.
Their 6'10 guy is from Brazil - he has played less than 5 minutes in every game i checked, including the games against LSU and Iowa...they have a VERY shallow bench with only the 6th man averaging more than 6 or 7 minutes - and when they went 9 deep in one particular game, all the subs were guards other than the Brazilian 6'10 cat.
As someone mentioned, they don't stroke the three at a ridiculously high percentage - low 30%...and they did not outrebound most of the teams they played - just kind of hung with them and in both the IOWA and LSU games came back from a halftime deficit.
So, we should be able to dominate them in the paint - if we could get Stout in foul trouble early, they have FEW alternatives in the frontcourt...shut down Jacobson, get Stout in foul trouble, and we cruise.

William,
The correct acronym is UNI.
NIU is Northern Illinois.
