Yesterday’s select stats:
Dante Harris - 18 pts on 6-11 shooting. 5-5 from the line. 0 turnovers. 5 assists. (Against a better team)
Mac McClung - 7 pts on 3-8 shooting. 1-3 from the line. 4 turnovers. 0 assists.
Life is good.

Rewatching from 10 minute mark through the end. Comments: - we handled the jump-stop in the lane so much better today. - defensive intensity was really there - Lead was 11 with 9 left - Carey with the 3 - Jamorko with a big rebound and was fouled & converts 2 - Bile fouled out when we were down by 6 - Holloway entered with 7 minutes left when we were down 7 - wahab draws a foul under the offensive backboard and makes 2 ft - Collin’s defensive pressure helps cause a travel under the hoop by JRE - next possession, Collin doing a great job defending larger JRE - Harris with a 3 from wing - Blair with a deep 3 / Hoyas lead by 1 - Difference in the game was made and missed FT - Offensive movement was really good the final 10 minutes - Ball was really moving too - Down 5 with 70 seconds left - Dante drives and gets a foul and converts - Pickett again plays great defense on a jump-stop - Blair finds Q under the basket for a dunk and foul Giving us that extra point on the Q and-one was a huge mistake by Nova and a gift for us.

Nova fans are so lacking in self-awareness. A key component of their offense for the last decade has been guards throwing themselves into people for bailout calls. Choke on it Jay. ________________________ Can't figure out many Georgetown fans here. It's a great win, enjoy it. Trashing Jay Wright and Villanova fans is kind of funny, but sad. Guys who impressive college careers who then developed into solid professionals in the NBA (Hart/Bridges/Pascall/DiVincenzo/Brunson/etc.) coupled with a great Head Coach and coaching staff focused on building a terrific culture resulting in 2 of the last 4 National Championship were all the 'key component' over the last decade. As a Nova/Gtown Alum, I have come on this board over the season and seen posters who were talking down their players after a loss and being ready to get rid of Patrick because he wasn't able to get the team moving forward. Building an elite program takes time, skill, focus, commitment and a bit of luck. Jay's done it, everybody knows it - just look at Patrick's comments yesterday. I wish the same for Gtown ( just not when they're playing Nova). You ca nrespect their program and be thoroughly disgusted with Wright’s continual badgering of the refs-warranted or not. Totally agree. Jay didn’t used to be such a baby. He literally whines more than any coach in the country - it’s a bad look. I used to really like him as a guy and a coach. Now I respect his excellence and resume, but completely detest his comportment. He’s honestly a disgrace to sportsmanship.

Did anyone else hear as the clock was winding down Coach yelled to Dante “Drive him”! I’m like sssssshhhhhhh! Yep. For a split second, I thought they were going to use the switch to get the ball to Jamorko (vs Arch). But he didn't even really look for it. It was Harris' game to win or lose at that point. Kid's not afraid.

One more game point I'll note. The press didn't really work in that it didn't cause turnovers. But it did work in that it forced Nova a legit 10-15 seconds to get into their offense. That makes it much easier for us to play good defense and only have to defend one action. And we didn't give up dunks on the back end. The downside is you're not going to get to set your matchups perfectly so it takes some real dedication and mid-possession switching or really flexible defenders. There was one possession where there was confusion on who to guard and I think Moore got a wide open 3 but that was it. But I wouldn't mind seeing more of that in the future. Usually I like it for just those reasons. I thought it forced us to scramble just a bit more than I would like though. Some open secondary break type looks. I thought Dante applying intense pressure to Archie Jr served the same purpose without the risk.

Between the missed free throws and that foul, JRE’s mistakes were all over that loss. Yup, JRE (6'9") had 26 points and 6 rebounds against a 6'11" and & a 7 footer (neither who had more than 6 rebounds themselves) - such a poor performance. Not sure what game you were watching, but even with his miscues he schooled your bigs. As for the criticism of Jay, watch Willard and Hurley tonight, see how quiet they are.

There’s no doubt that Wright is the BE’s version of Coach K when it comes to working the refs.

You can have a good game and still be a key part of a loss. Do you think Nova looses if JRE makes his FTs? Your wildcat is showing these last 24 hours, might help to remember which school's forum you're on.

Yeah we had little answer for JRE or for Samuels. Just glad we were able to limit the others enough to squeak out the win. I was frustrated watching JRE operate - until I reminded myself that gee, I guess there is a reason he was co-player of the year. As for Coach Wright - it is probably just that his pleading and disbelief looks are more expressive than Willard and Hurley - one of the reasons they keep a camera on him pretty much constantly. Hope Moore heals up enough by next weekend for you guys to represent the Big East well.

JRE is a very fundamentally sound player who is tough to stop. He is usually going to get his points against most teams. All college coaches work the refs, some are just more visible than others. Some are more effective at doing it than others also. Wright has been successful for long enough now that the refs give him a lot of slack.

To be fair 6-9 JRE has a massive behind and knows how to use it as a weapon, which pretty much allows him to play bigger than he is. He basically schooled everyone (Q, Big Tim off the dribble/outside and just dominated JaMorko down low) and that reverse lay up is just unstoppable at 6-9. Bile and Holloway were the only guys who could somewhat contain him. Holloway was the difference. If we don't insert him in this game (with our foul situation and JRE domination) we lose this game easily.

JRE had a great game. AND his hands were all over that loss. Nova missed 8 free throws - 6 of them were by JRE. He makes 1 or 2 of those, and Nova likely wins. And did he miss the front end of one 1 and 1 or two? Meanwhile, he gave up the decisive foul that led to the winning free throws. I'm sorry the truth hurts.

Chris Webber dominated the national championship game, then he called time out.

This game was all Dante. Dante was our best player and man was he great.
Q also played a very good game offensively. Defensively they attacked him a lot, but he more than made up for it on offense. Pretty solid performance from him.
And our defense looked so much better. If Q and Tim didn't bite on every single pump fake, we might have won this game by 15. There's always room to improve, but this W was absolutely massive. When we can win a game with Bile and Pickett playing bad games, we should take that every time. Let's hope those two step it up today.
