But seriously that first Dante free throw at the end... the basketball gods toyed with us! The resemblance of that free throw to JWall's 2nd in the dying seconds vs. Duke were uncanny... until it fell in. That was my immediate thought in that split-second. Glad this one worked out the way it did.

I’d rather face Seton Hall. Think St John’s is better and they’ve had our number in this event the last 4 years. Yeah, me too.

You're sure you want us to face Seton Hall? Their team and those big guys are dangerous!! Our guys have not shown that they can handle those guys, but there is a time for everything. That would be a heck if a mountain range to climb. I'd like to see the Wizards get Mahamullashevelli. They would have to sew two jerseys together to put his name on the back, or shorten it to Mamu!

One more game point I'll note. The press didn't really work in that it didn't cause turnovers. But it did work in that it forced Nova a legit 10-15 seconds to get into their offense. That makes it much easier for us to play good defense and only have to defend one action. And we didn't give up dunks on the back end.
The downside is you're not going to get to set your matchups perfectly so it takes some real dedication and mid-possession switching or really flexible defenders. There was one possession where there was confusion on who to guard and I think Moore got a wide open 3 but that was it. But I wouldn't mind seeing more of that in the future.

FANTASTIC and gutsy win by the Hoyas!!! What tremendous improvement in recent weeks. 23-23 from the line! - even the great Georgetown teams never did that. Jay Wright is a great coach but whined the entire game...really got old. In fact...he got outcoached! Great job by Dante Harris and he was money from the line. Just made their season!

I, for one, hope Jermaine Samuels decides to move on and not take a covid 2nd senior year. He's the type of big we have problems with -- solid outside shooting "center." Our centers just aren't well equipped to defend that. I think Q & Tim have improved a lot on defense and match up well with other normal bigs who don't shoot 3s. Their presence down low deters drives, but they have to permit outside shots from their guys to do so. Most won't make us pay, but in the games we've played Nova, Samuels has. Thankfully, Q made him pay on the other side and that was big.
I think Q & Tim can handle Seton Hall's bigs like they did last time, and I think we are a better team, especially defensively, than the last time we played St. Johns. Gonna need Bile to have a bounce back game though. We got a real chance to make the finals. Let's go!

Well it looks like the Hall is gonna pull it out. The Hall doesn't scare me but the way StJs played today I wouldn't be afraid of them either. Also the game went to OT so hopefully the extra game we played won't be as much of a fatigue difference. Plus we matchup better with SH because Q can guard Odibago or Samuels.

ProfessorHoya: Wanted to thank you for posting the movie clip (p. 37 of this thread), which is VERY apt and brought an added smile to today's events! For anyone who doesn't know the clip is of Coach Sam Mussabini from the movie Chariots of Fire, right after Harold Abrahms wins the 100 meters ('24 Paris Olympics). A coincidental fact for all, which I bet ProfessorHoya knows, is that shortly after the UNC/Hoya NCAA final in '82, Chariots very unexpectedly won the Best Picture Oscar (Oscars used to be held on Mondays).

I respect Jay Wright as a premier college coach but I'm starting to really dislike him. He is constantly in the officials' ears and bitches and moans at everything. lol. He was extra whiny today, Ed. He could have won an academy award today with those crocodile tears of his. I believe that award is known as the Boeheim Award, after the former top whiner in the BE.
