You notice 9797 never comes on here when we win??? What do you want me to say? They won a game that I said they were very likely to win. But they beat a terrible team and, from reading this thread so far, we continued to be as bad as usual. And, it looks like Ewing continued his masterclass in horrible coaching and roster management. Nothing has changed - he’s the worst, this team is awful, and as long as he’s in charge, this is what it will be.

I think everyone realizes his positives, but you need to realize his negatives. His offensive usage is WAY too high for a guy who shoots as marginally as he does. He should be 4th option, but he often doesn’t play like he understands this. And as well as he sometimes rebounds and runs the floor, he also often gets completely lost on his off-ball defense, always bites on the pump fake and overestimates his dribbling ability and overall skills. Hes a net-plus, but he was absolutely not the best player on the floor today. Today was a VERY weird game. Take Blair. He commits 9!!!, 9!!!! TOs. That’s an inexcusable number. A run-until-you-vomit number. A buy-a-tennis-racquet number. But he also threw no less than 5 scintillating 50-foot diagonal passes that either directly led to buckets or were hockey assists. His passing was at times absolutely magnificent. While he was at other times a human TO. Really hard to reconcile the two, because most of his TOs weren’t committed in the act of making near-remarkable plays but were of the utterly brain dead variety. It was that kind of game...for literally every major contributor (Blair, Bile, Q, Harris) on the team other than Pickett. Morko was once again very solid. Harris plays super hard, but still can’t finish when he dives into the lane, never gets to the line, struggles to find bigs after initial penetration and gets iso inside picked on by other team’s guards 2/3 poss/game (mouse in house). Q has the hands of a fish. Squeeze it and slam it big fella. Don’t bring it down and don’t get stripped by mice. Offensively, warts were everywhere. Defensively, the guys played what I felt was their best game of the season. I hear all of your bellyaching and you got the stats to prove your arguments and all but there is one stat that you keep ignoring. That stat is 4-2 since Bile has been inserted into the starting lineup. Furthermore look at the "Bile effect" and that is the affect that he has on the rest of his teammates. Wthh Bile on the floor, He makes his teammates so much better, especially Pickett. You used to talk bad about Pickett and now you don't talk bad about Pickett anymore. You know why you don't? It is because now the opponent has to be concerned about Bile now that it takes the stress off of Pickett! Effectively Bile gives us a big 4. He's a threat both on d and offense. The team just started learning how to play together and now they are winning games and you guys want to complain and you cant even see that we are twending upwards now. It is amazing!! There is give and take for all players. Bile brings a level of maturity, skill and confidence that has helped the team...he might be called a "glue-guy." Every team needs one and we have had them in the past, thankfully. If our big guys could take a miraculous step forward things would come together quickly. "I used to wonder how, when everything seemed profound, I've been around just chasing it straight. .no chaser!!" Don't forget Blair had six assists today...(you didn't miss them)so he wasn't all bad by far..it's a game of give and take...and we won!!

And must feel terruble (not just terrible)! But it will be all right. This year and every year, it is what it is. I have my frustration, but I think we are moving in the right direction and must endure the growing pains. Players make a coach look good! We have the best we could get. I dont knock them or the coach. I am happy he has the opportunity to be the head coach and see that he is growing and so is the program. Cheer up, things are getting better all the time."

I just caught that "hands of a fish comment" unbelievable..ha ha!.but I get what you mean, and it's not untrue. He needs some of those gloves football receivers and cornerbacks use with stickum (just kidding). He needs to get better catching and caring for the ball...gripping it tighter.. whatever it takes°

I had better things to do than watch two horrible teams in a pillow fight. Maybe it was a masterful performance by players and coaches alike but neither the box score nor the comments here showed that.

You guys keep knocking Bile but you all don't realize that Bile was the best player on the court today. Bile is the reason why the season is turning around. Bile has effectively given us a big 4. He has madw everyone in the starting lineup jobs easier. Bile was the best player in two of our three wins. He was not today. He got lost tons defensively and it felt like he had more than 2 TO's (then again, it felt like everyone had more than their total). They just didn't make us pay. Bile left David multiple times for his nine points, he would get lost defensively and cause a ton of panic rotations and he got lucky a couple times in the lane. He was good, but far from our best. I thought it's pretty clearly either Jamorko or Dante today. Both were solid defensively, both took shots within the rhythm of the offense and played every solid on both ends. Dante limited TO's today, effectively ran our offense and aside from one play (the drive against Hodges), I thought he played a very good game. For Jamorko, he was solid on both sides of the ball, shot it well and played his role. He didn't force and looked inside and out today. He had a tough matchup on the other end and he played pretty well. Jamorko was really solid defensively. He rotated inside but not too far and forced Butler to beat us from the outside, but also making them have to make quick decisions. Bile would rotate too far down and give them more than enough time to get set and hit shots. And Dante against Thompson, their most important player, prevented him from getting anything too easy and made him be a facilitator and not a scorer. I think these were why we won this game. These two, not Bile. Bile was good, but far from our best player, imo. I think Dante has also been a key reason for our success recently. Good defense from the perimeter, running the offense really well and being a complete defensive pest. He's letting guys get into their spots, making the simple play and not doing too much. I think he's been excellent in our recent surge.

If not for that, I may not have said anything. But, regardless, I’ll say what I want, where I want. I have been exceedingly critical of Pat. I think he's still got tons to learn and doesn't exactly seem flexible. That said, I think he's doing the best he can. And I think you forfeit the right to bitch when you don't even watch. I get that you were called out. But then you went to riff venom when you didn't even watch the game. Sorry, but that's low rent. I get, and often share, your frustration. But come on man. If you choose not to watch, do you really think you have the right to whine? The guys really have played drastically better ball in four of the last five games. Even if you inhabit the most extreme tier of angst, you would have to concede that they have improved...if you had watched.

I'm a day late posting. A little surprised at all the negativity surrounding a Big East win that was never in doubt from start to finish. - The turnovers were unacceptable, but when I see Blair was 9 of them, I kinda shrug. It seemed like a very isolated personal issue for him. I think he knew the 1k point threshold was attainable today and was gunning from jump. 9 turnovers was generous considering some of the 3s he took were the equivalent of turnovers. He's been reasonably solid with the ball all year so not going to overthink it too much
- My only real gripe with the tight rotation at this point is that it doesn't remotely mesh with the style he wants to play. If you really want to push the ball, the rotation should be bigger so you can play at a faster place. A 7-8 man rotation is fine if you're playing at the right pace, but we're kinda stuck between the style and the size of the rotation. We make so many mistakes in transition that I wonder if the team would do better at slower pace.
- But I will say this, if you're argument is that Ewing had no time to fill the end of the roster scholarships and you have zero expectation that Berger, Clark, Holloway etc are ever going to play minutes, then you should've used those scholarships on sit out transfers who would be with the squad next season. I'm most bullish on Berger as he undoubtedly has a BE level skill that is in demand (shooting) but I still see that as a huge missed opportunity for the future then. Roster management matters
- This game might serve as a nice reminder that not every team can expose Q's weaknesses like Nova and Creighton did. Golden and Nze missed a lot of bunnies and had shots blocked because of his presence. Two finishes going to his right shoulder (the dunk and left handed hook). Nice bounce back. Tim, on the other hand, was a trainwreck but I'll stop there
- I thought our defense was solid with the exception of Bile. Everyone else pretty much controlled their man and we made a bad offensive team look bad. That's what you're supposed to do.
- Two great plays from Dante: 1) Dante and Q execute drop coverage well, Dante recovers over the top and picks Thompson's pocket, then drives down court and drops it to Blair for a wide open 3. 2) Dante hitting Q for a dunk in 2nd half on a play we've seen people do to us for years where you expose the hard hedge. Dante faked like he was kicking out for the 3, help defender tried to recover and Dante hit Q for the pass. It was fun to be on the other end of that one
- Two great defensive plays from Sibley: 1) blocking Hodges 3 point attempt at end of shot clock that led to runout. 2) when he switched onto Thompson, he had the scouting report and played off and there was no room for Thompson to drive. Ends on Bile block / shot clock violation
- Loved the play in the 2nd half with 3 extra passes for a wide open Bile 3. He's showing when he takes quality shots he has a chance, just has to continue to cut down on the forces.
- Carey and Blair hitting 3s before the end of the half were huge. It was a 10 pt game w 2 min left, going in up 16 vs. maybe something like 6-8 was such a different feel.
- I try to follow all the BE teams, but I didn't realize Butler benched Harris to play Hodges? We joke about playing the freshmen but I cannot imagine their fanbase is pleased. They're in a similar rebuild type season.
- Unrelated but I wonder how much differently we'd view this season if we beat Navy? We're not that far from finishing 8th or 9th in BE which would seem like a victory given preseason expectations. Not that we should be celebrating 8th / 9th but it'd be a sign that Ewing got this team to overachieve based on the roster as evaluated by other BE coaches
If our next game is really next Saturday then that's probably a sign some of these missed games are not going to get made up. Congrats to Jahvon and Pickett on their milestones.

"97...wake up!!" Why so pessimistic always? “They”? Who is “they” Or is somebody’s slip showing? "They" in this context is the Georgetown Men's basketball team. Just so I have this straight, the Pat-can-do-no-wrong brigade complains that 9797 wasn't posting after a win, trolls him into posting, he shows up and answers, and the goalposts move to "why are you posting" and "you're a racist because you used a pronoun". Great contributions to the board.
