A very important game. If we can't bounce back with at least a smarter game and better effort, this could downspiral quickly.

Quick hooks when guys don’t move the ball to the open man, jack up contested shots anywhere without looking for their open teammate, or don’t talk on defense mandatory.
If Q doesn’t look like he is mentally in the game early, Tim then Wilson need to rotate in right away. No waiting for him to “establish” himself. Make him earn it.

A very important game. If we can't bounce back with at least a smarter game and better effort, this could downspiral quickly. Given our recent history to end seasons on long losing streaks, it certainly is possible again as this remains probably one of the maybe two games we’ll be favored in from here on out.

If we play like we did the 3 previous games we can compete in all 6 remaining games. If we play like we did last night, we may have a hard time competing in any, even DePaul.

A very winnable game against a Butler team that, like the Hoyas, struggles to score. Take care of the ball and take good shots and this is a home game that Georgetown should win, but if you come out with the same level energy that they had last night it will be another disappointing loss

Since the last time we played Butler, they added transfer Bo Hodges - who has been perhaps their best player over the past few weeks. So they'll be putting more talent on the floor than they were the first time we played them.

Tim is less ready for prime time than Wahab. I would consider a lineup with Sibley, Pickett and Bile or, if he decides to go solo again, Carey and go real small. Sibley is not ready but he is energetic and engaged and would rather see his effort mistakes than mistakes from a lack of effort.

Frankly we should sweep Butler every season. They should be a bottom tier BE team that overachieves every five to seven years. We've got to get to the point where Butler, Marquette, Depaul, Providence are guaranteed sweeps.

We are the team that opponents chalk up as a guaranteed sweep every season. And check the resume of us against Butler for the past, oh, 20 years. Butler has been the far superior program for a very long time. Marquette and Providence have been better than us for better part of a decade. Since the formation of the new Big East, it’s us and DePaul at the bottom. Period. Any path back has to begin by realizing just where we are.

I bet they pencil us in as the BET First Round opponent they want to play. Xavier salivates at our softness.

The tape is out now on how to attack us defensively: go small, match a mobile player against Q, and find ways to exploit him every time he's out of position. Expecting Butler to do the same with Nze, who will play the Samuels/Bishop role, especially if Golden is out of the game. Will Q show signs of improving defensively and some general awareness after a rough stretch? Hard to believe he's become the defensive liability as of late, but need to see some progress made here.
How do we counter? Again, another team we should have a significant size advantage over across the board. If we are not killing them on the boards and winning second chance points by a substantial margin, then there's a big problem. It's going to come down to effort and intensity to win this aspect of the game; you can use a quick turnaround as an excuse in some instances, but not after a 4 day layoff.
Turnovers. We lost 15-6 the last time we played them. Anything even close to even and we probably win that game. You get careless with the ball and make unforced errors, you sit. Especially after Tuesday's disaster, that message needs to be made loud and clear.
To me, this is a pride game. Creighton came, challenged our manhood, and won decisively. How much does this team want to fight? We know Butler will. I expect some punches (figuratively) being thrown back this weekend vs. Tuesday.

I said we "should", not that we are. We have more resources than all of those schools, a higher academic profile, a richer tradition, a marquee recruiting locale, etc.

We're basically done with the teams that always play smallball (maybe Xavier at this point fits that bill but not the same as St Johns, Nova, Creighton). I imagine our centers will be relieved - But to that end, will a team that normally plays w 2 bigs (Golden / Nze) intentionally size down to cause mismatch problems for the centers? And when only one of them is on the court, will Ewing match and go small or continue to throw size at the problem?
- I'm a supporter of advanced stats. That being said, publicly available advanced stats do a good job of explaining the "what" but probably not as good of a job explaining the "why". Does anyone think our defense on Creighton was the best performance of the season? I know Ewing said our defense was fine but even that felt wrong. I hate that every time we have anything resembling a good performance the simple explanation might just be a team missed open shots, but it definitely felt like that on Tuesday.
- Jair Bolden has AJ Reeves potential if we do not find him on the perimeter
- Excited to see if Dante can fare better in the Harris' matchup this time around
Winnable game, don't play down to level of competition, play up like we did against Nova and 1st Creighton game and we should win this game.
